I am, like the rest of you eagerly awaiting news of a return to flights in and out. If it is not too difficult (see Cambodia!) and travel onward from NB to other places then I am in. With so much of the world in disarray and new cases popping up in VN and Cambodia (my usual stomping grounds) trying to plan anything is almost impossible. I am seriously considering heading to Mexico for a couple of months in September and seeing if any progress is made as I wait it out. Only problem is self isolating for another 2 weeks when I get back!

Of course Emirates is only one idea to bring more tourists, until now airports are closed and there is no exactly date for opening, but I have an eye on it. It sounds like a plan. That small island can be easier controlled than the big island. In case of you become sick, I didn't see the hospital, but a Western guy told me he had an accident there and an operation. The doctor at home said good job well done. So it depends on what do you need, stay there or fly out. I guess that hospital in Nosy Be runs by Italians and I could imagine that the Italians could bring there some equipment. A lot of Italians joining their vacation at Nosy Be. We will see what happen. If they open I would expect that they have a concept otherwise they would loose a lot of tourists or nobody will come.

I think its a misunderstanding. In another article of L'express its said that the airport may open for all airlines, but only NosyBe airport. And the Emirates-topic is just an add on to bring in more passengers.

Just keep your feet still and wait what will happen.

I would (currently if I cannot get to Asia) be coming from western Canada which I can tell you is a long fucking haul in one go, via Dubai or not. Trying to get a reasonable cost / connection is probably going to be very difficult and expensive.

Remember, in reality you will fly out of from Nosy if you have COVID.

Why? No hospital in Nosy only one doctor which he is busy busy. I saw a few beds but even the rats will refuse to lie down there.

They are offering a travel insurance in case of Covid for everybody who flys with Emirates when they start again. Why not Nosy Be, Dubai is well connected. We'll see what happen or not and when.

I was a bit puzzled by this as well. Why would they single out Dubai as a gateway into Nosy Be? Surely Paris would make more sense. Not mentioned is whether or not you can jump on a plane and get the fuck out of Hellville after arrival. I am not a big fan of Nosy Be, far prefer Tamatave and Tulear. I do not think I would bother with the costs and hassle of the trip if one was only allowed to go to NB but nowhere else.

Emirates does not means Arabs, most are connecting flights from all over the world. Good idea "rapid testing on arrival".

This kinda stuff is above my stress threshold. I thought Mada was a bit less violent than the mainland. After reading this and what Neddy wrote, I think it's wise to follow his day only strategy and at night, stick to a small well defined area where you should also sleep.

It happened in town center. But in Mada it happens rarely. Kenians and other mainland countries bixxx's are much more agressive.

If you want to avoid it, stay back home. Simple.
