Near Tamatve you can find clean and well furnished seaview rooms for a little more. (Pic1).
And near Tulear you get for that rate a beach bungalow in much better condition (Pic2).
If you are ok to spend about 80.000 MGA you can everywhere get a very nice room to stay.

I had a clean, big room with comfort in Jakarta which cost 15 USD per day for my first Indonesia trip, many restaurants around and not far to go everywhere.

Who here is in TOLIARA or MANGILY right now? Can you give us an idea how life is for you as a monger? Maybe some expatriates living there can explain better!

Posts: 121The people can still go outside until maybe 12:00 o'clock. Don't know exactly. In the Morning the market is open, so they can buy food. Then they have to go home. I just saw some pics on other boards. I looks like less people are on the streets. Maybe only one people of each family allowed?

On the 19th, getting the last flights out at the airport Tana, it was a strange scene, so many different types we never ordinarily encounter: the peace corps contingent, Mormons. And French, many nearly gone native, pieds-noirs-looking with children. Surreal really.

Yes Mada has a low population density. It also has virtually no health care and one BIG city, Tana, that is pretty packed. If the virus gets a foothold there it could be a massive problem. Let's wish them luck, as it is all most of them have.

I think this may help explain why the virus has had little traction in the States outside of NYC. By contrast in New York State it's 421, and in NYC it's 26,400.
Madagascar's Population Density is only 118.84 people per square mile. It seems Madagascar will not have a serious problem.

Posts: 499Not really a small thing. All Europe is now suffering a lot, more than 3000 deaths in Italy, 450 in France and still increasing strongly. If it start in Madagascar. Could be strong impact also.
