Not any more cheap. 60 k ventilee. I have an Aircon in my room in Zoom. It would cost 45 k. But I never use A/C. For me fan is enough. For 30k. I am vazaha lany mofo. It takes at least 3 weeks for your body to adjust to tropical heat. When I arrived here I sweated like a pig. After a week it's much better already. I have a ceiling fan running at full speed. I lie naked and my malgache princess was freezing wrapped in a blanket. LOL.

PS. Near the ocean wooden bungalows are also cool in the night. Like Cheval de mer. But also 60k. For a month 50k. Too much. I paid 400k a MONTH in 2015 in Mangily.

I am trying to decide whether to make my first trip to Mada next year. I have mongered extensively but mostly in Asia, Latin America and Europe. Looking to try something new. I would have only around 1 week available so was thinking perhaps to spend around 5 or 6 days in Nosy Be and a night on each end for connecting flights in Tana. I know the time is short, but it's all I have to work with.

I have seen on a lot of reports people mentioning that Badoo is a good way to get an idea of what's available. I can't though see on that site how to get it to show me only available girls in Nosy Be. Is this possible? Or need to wait until you get on the ground and then let the app have your location? Mostly all the girls show as in the big cities.

Also with one week only. Is it worth going to Nosy Be? Or am I better to spend all this time in Tana? I see many mixed reports. Because my trip is so short I have no budget issues so pricing of girls / accommodations etc in either place is not a factor. Just looking for the cutest girls and the best trip. I should add I speak no French beyond being able to read the odd menu etc, so that will be a factor I know.

Only 2 choices. Either fly direct with Ethiopian to Nosy Be. Spend a week there. Or a week in Tana. For a week the choice is crystal clear. Nosy Be. Forget connecting flights. They might be cancelled. And a week is IMHO almost not feasible.

About health. I'm not the over-insured anxious type but I know I'm not covered by my health insurance in Madagascar. In The Gambia I nearly got run over by a taxi driver who'the completely lost controle of his vehicle. Do any of you guys take a separate health / repatriation insurance?

Anyway, I booked a 2 week return flight Tana-Nosy towards the end of my holiday for 215 with a 3 day cushion in Tana just in case the flight gets cancelled. That means I have about 3 weeks left.

There is a cheap flight for 80 from Tulear to Tana a couple of days before my flight leaves to Nosy. I was thinking about following the RN7 from Tana on a slow pace southwards making stopovers in Antsirabe and Fianara. There take the train to Manakara. If it runs, haha. Then stay a couple of nights in Manakara, return by train to Fianar and then go to Tulear. Now If I do that I'll have to cancel Tamatave. I don't like being in a rush. So it's going to be one or the other, Tamatave or Tulear.

I read a strange remark on tripadvisor. Someone claimed the best exchange in Madagascar is at the airport at a company called socimad. That does surprise me. I've never heard of an airport exchange giving a good rate let alone being the best in the country.

Get a good death and disability insurance. Thats what I have. Road Accidents will be your biggest risk. I have a good travel insurance package comes with my Visa card to cover hospital and emergency evacuation. See your dentist before you go.
IMHO go to Nosy Be. Tulear stifling hot now.
Change at the airport. Yes. Bad Rates. But bring cash Euros. If the ATMs on the airport are out of cash frequently you need ariary to pay for taxi to town.

I've figured it out. None of the girls looks at you. Hmmm. How to approach them. After nightfall there is girls strolling around a bord de mer. I like your perspective in life for the older men in Africa. You have some optimism and adventurous spirit. I never heard of Henri de Monfreid and I'm glad you mentioned him. He was an adventurer. I can relate to him. "he feared to be obliged to accept the slavery of some dreary job and become a domestic animal. The only adventurer a Hungarian or rather East European learn about in schools with ties to Madagascar is Maurice Benyovszky. He was a Polish-Hungarian who created the first trade / colonial post in Madagascar on behalf of France. He died in Madagascar at the hand of the French military after he returned to the island but this time working for the Austrian-Hungarian empire. There is a popular TV series about his life including his Madagascar Adventures seen by millions in Eastern Europe. There is a street named after him in Antananarivo. He also mongered extensively in Madagascar so he is also an inspiration.

If you download a location changer app onto your phone (I have one called Fake GPS) you can set your location as anywhere on the globe. Once it is running, if you open badoo and and tantan you can chat to girls in the fake location. For some reason it doesn't work with tinder (I guess they have better location detector, to persuade you to buy the paid version of tinder to change your location). Also the website tagged.com lets you change location to anywhere you want.

I've been to Morondova twice, and couldn't last a week there either time. .

After 5 days you will take the first Taxi bruss out of this shit hole. Yes the beach area look cute but this is super boring place with no shade to hide from the sun. Mada is a terrible place to retire unless you wait to your die but casual trips in and out seems as a good option.

Thing is most places in Mada are gone and very little places left to encourage you to come back. 15 years ago any place you went was pure paradise.
