Reached tamatave 2. 5 hours later because of broken cottise van they manage to send new one from antananarivo. 21.30 check in at flamboyants hotel this place is not change from my last visit few years ago still have same reception guy and room looks same no renovation done.

Arrived from Kenya taxi to sole hotel 50 k.

First stop was la glacier on Saturday it was packed with live band plenty of girls to choose. Local beers price 4 k for small and 5 k for big bottle. Take 2 cousins for treesome 40 k each they was great make me cum 2 times allowed many pic.

But the nightlife scene in Ambataloak is much smaller than I expected.

Actually only 2 bars are busy: Taxi be and LE billiard next doors.

And during the weekend one disco is open a bit further down the road.

I will go to TulAR and Ifaty next April.

Thanks to all. I have of course already read the old entries about NB in this forum. My intention was to collect more impressions / opinions because of the ambivalent statements and the older ones are eventually not really up to date. But I think I will give NB a try!

Some words about the listed cities. It's just my opinion and I'm a bit strange. My french language skill is max A1. But doesn't matter. First of all: Mada is not save, especially at night in dark surroundings. So always be careful and everywhere you go you should wear your passport. I don't want to explain exactly but sadly I have made my experiences. Accept of hotel and transportation everything is very cheap. But transportation is really complicated.

Tana: It's more interesting as I have expected. You can find good food, sweet girls are everywhere and when you was not successful over the day go in one of the clubs at night. My favorite is Indra. Buy a beer at the entry and breath the crazy hot atmosphere..

Madagascar selectively criminalised consensual adult-to-adult prostitution but applied the new law to foreign tourists only. It was underlined by a French TF1-channel documentary in 2008 (links below, in French) during which several male tourists were arrested in Nosy Be. First of all. The age of consent in Madagascar used to be 14 years before. As it is until this very day in several European countries. The main reason many african countries raised age of consent also Kenya BTW was to stop [CodeWord902] girls being married off against their will and consent to wealthier older locals. There is a law! And in case you have bad luck, you will be as foreigner a target of a heavy punishment:

Malagasy penal code:

"The facts of helping, assisting, protecting, sharing the proceeds of the prostitution of others, of maintaining even with his consent a person for the purpose of prostitution, of acting as an intermediary between persons engaging in prostitution or debauchery are punishable:

- 5 to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of 4,000,000 to 20,000,000 Ariary.

And in addition, to understand why most hotels are very strict in demanding IDs of the girls. To register them as guests:

ART 334,334 bis and 335 of the Malagasy Penal Code.

Any manager, manager, hotel clerk or other establishment accepting or tolerating the presence of any person engaged in prostitution shall be punished with the penalty of:

- 5 to 10 imprisonment and a fine of 4,000,000 to 40,000,000 Ariary.

In reality, its tolerated. But you shall watch your back.

You forgot an important point. Under 18 years. Otherwise you could shut down ALL hotels. And the prisons would be full of gasy men. As long as she has ID stating she is 18 years and above everything is cool. If the ID has been bought or the Village elder certified another age... thats a different story... And what happens deep in La Brousse another story again.....

Go to Madagascar, but stay in Tana as long as necessary. Spend the rest of your time anywhere else. I cannot recommend Tana for vacation. There are recommendations for many different places on this board. Without speaking French it's difficult or complicated, but not impossible. I was at Nosy Be, better than Tana. I can recommend this place, especially for a first trip. If you write more detailed what do you expect from a Madagascar or Tana trip, others could recommend some nice other places.

There is no law in Madagascar or should I say the only law is money. If you are that scared don't go.

Mada isn't for everybody. If you go check the girls yourself and make your own opinion. Speaking French is a must.
