Seeing Vahaza Be post reminded me of a story that I told him in a PM, but never posted although I meant to. This happened several years ago in Tana and thought all might enjoy it.

It is hard to miss the SWs in Tana. I have had some great experiences in an alley behind the Radama. LOL. I saw two rooms at Les Artistes, at the first floor, behind the restaurant. They are dark, not much daylight. But they should be very quite when the restaurant is closed. Traffic noise shouldn't be a problem and it's close to Glacier. I didn't checked in there, just had a lunch and the rooms were open. No guests inside. 75 k is fair rate. Does anybody know is it guest friendly? I would book there if yes.

Still quite cold here in tana, but I got some infos about the artistes.

I took breakfast this morning and ask to see a room, very nice room, lot of wood, very clean, bathroom with shower and hot water. Only issue could be that many rooms have entrance and window on the side of restaurant, but others upstairs should be more quiet.

I ask if it's an issue if we bring girl friend, she said no, so I guess it's OK. But you need to cross the whole restaurant to get to your room, not sure if there is another entry.

And also, all employees are very cute petite girls, nice to see and chat with, the boss should have very strict hiring rules 😁.

And last but not least, cooking is very good and not so expensive, main course 18k, breakfast 10 or 13k, bar with all kind of alcohol and whiskies...

Any thoughts or opinions from those living in Mada with some experience regarding the upcoming elections. I know there was issues in Tana early in the year (when I was there in fact), and that was quite well ahead of the election and a bit unusual to see so early. How are things now and what is the expectation for election day? News is not good, but generally the press blows the threats out of proportion.

Very quiet up here in the north (Diana District). Business as usual, if a bit slow due to limited tourism. Security OK. Vahinee is full of options tonight. Taxi Be will be even better later tonight.

I agree, more quiet than newselect, and the restaurant seems very appreciated, totally full now, difficult to find one seat to eat, mainly vazas but also some locals men's and girls, if I can get infos I will post again.

Hotel is correct, it's a set of apartments in several buildings, with saloon, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom. Not so bad. But totally isolated, not easy to get out, area looks not very friendly, no restaurant, only pizza to order.

So I paid 50%, and moved to New select close to LE glacier.

Taxi 50 k, 1 hour+ of car jams.

New select is ok but a bit old and "rustic", but ok for 1 night. In comparison sole hotel is luxury. But we are close to LE glacier which is good.

I discovered also les artistes, looks good restaurant, just behind new select, and also hotel with good rooms at 75 k. I couldn't visit as it is full now.

All other hotels named here in the range 75 to 95 k per night.

I agree with you that these bandits, so called dahalo, are not only protected by grigri. I know many afrtican countries and I know that if they continue to attack its also because of corruption. But if I speak about grigri its also because here quite all people believe in them very strongly.

But I wouldn't say that this country is the worst in the world regarding security. This French guy story is not the right example for me as his job close to the president makes his story very specific and far away from what a tourist can experience here.

Being jailed can happen in many countries, in Africa or in Asia, for many reasons, not sure we should say that Madagascar is worst than some other countries. There is another story of 2 French pilots jailed in Dominic rep I guess, and who escape to France, for an unclear story of passengers carrying drugs in their luggage, here too it was bad story to be enjailed there.

What I can see also is that tourists are not really targeted, except two stories, one is the tsibihirina attack, the other an hotel attack in fiana area.

So, I would say, yes, mada has security issues, but may be not more than many countries.

Look at USA, massive murders by guns in school, in France with terrorists or some areas in Paris or around where we can't walk safely, even police cañnot. ,. Etc.

But they are not protected by voodoo what you called GRIS GRIS but by the numerous corrupted officers of the country involving government members, police force, high ranked military and even the actual presidency of the country ruled by a criminal!

That country sucks! It is probably one of the most wicked and corrupted countries in the this World! Be careful with your safety. Especially when approaching women you can become a victim of extortion or fraud!

True. While mostly cattle owners are targeted and people impoverished as the dahalo steal whole herds of cattle and export them for slaughter. Madagascar can be very dangerous if you fall out. Recently a french national escaped from Tsiafahy high security prison. No fun. And it cost you a lot of money to get out. He bribed the prosecutor and Minister of Justice. A Canadian I heard of had to shell out 5000 Euros in Tulear to get off the hook shagging m. Rs. Allegedly of course. The money is shared between the Judge Prosecutor Police and Family of the girl. Hi all, now I am in mangily 50 km west of tulear.

I follow advices from Amadeus and Brasilsoccer and others.

What a wonderful place!

I am at Bella Donna with a restaurant with a French chief who was cook on luxury yachts, Bill gates for ex, doing cooking like in 3 stars Michelin restaurants!!

First was at bungalow 7, beautiful inside, brand new, wide bathroom, 80 k night. But not very privacy due to the restaurant and reception very close.

So I moved to number 2, facing the beach, Pieds dans l'eau, balcony on the beach, 90 k, a bit more ancient but very good for me.

There I see all girls walking on the beach.

One masseuse was sitting just in front, nirina, 34 years old 2 child's but still nice body and tits.

I waved her, agreed for 10 k 1 HR, she asked 15 k, and she came inside. Started shower, then she kept underwear and started massage, and surprise as the massage was good one with naked masseuse and the noise of waves behind us. Hmmm nice.

Small story from Ranohira, isalo Park, where I spent two nights and a beautiful trek in the area for 13 kms with a guide. I stay "chez alice", nice hotel with small bungalows facing isalo mounts. Hot water ones are at 43 k and good restaurant for 25 k full menu three dishes.

The village itself is really not for mongering, one bar at the center, red walls with THB written, everything seems to happen there. But girls are very shy, difficult to get numbers apparently. So my guide offer to negotiate for me and did it with a nice chick, ok for 7 pm at my room. I wait there but the guide was obliged to come with her due to long sand road in the dark. Then she showered, very very shy, smiling, and we had a very good sex session even a bit fast. Then she dressed and I gave 15 k. She refuse it. I ask what is the pb, and after some time she said 100! I say no but 20, she say ok, I gave but she was not happy and left.

For those who like treks, this a good place for trek for some hours or even up to 3 days, everything organized by the guide, no need for special equipment. My 13 km small trek costs about 200 k including meal cooked in the park and surrounded by lemurs.

Security: now 40 km before Ranohira, fiana side, and 40 km after, tulear side, have to be avoided after 5 pm due to bandits attacks, everybody take care of that here, even police who has fear of bandits protected by "grigri" they say.

But by respecting these timings there is no problem.

And if some of you like to watch the sky u should know that there is the most clear and wonderful sky I have ever seen.
