Nope, nothing nice to share...

I'm in Madagaskar now for about 3 weeks.

In Tana I had a very nice Hotel: 'La Ribaudiere' -about 35 Euro / Day. They gave me a very nice Appartement, with Fridge / Aircon. Very large. Then I went to Nosy Be. Everything expensiv, not really working, hard living. There are Girls on the Beach, but it looks like Kuta in Bali and really not my Style.

Let's see, maybe later I get better news. For me, it's a bad investment.

If you want to go to Diego. Many problems with Transport. Fly from Air Mada canceled etc. -it's not easy here. Maybe good for Longtime Residents with Villa etc.

How is situation in Bao bar and how is at the moment the pick up in Morondava?

Nope, nothing nice to share. Bao Bar opened weekends only and everybody in town will be there (its like the disco in Tamatave only not as flashy). A negative about this town is it is full of regular tourists stopping for one or two nights whilst they visit some national park and see Baobobs. Some girls stroll the streets (at center near Hotel Vezo) giving out cards to Vazaha offering massages (FS obviously). On the beach, of course girls can be be picked up and there are bungalows direct access to beach. But the beach is polluted and little to do, which is fine to relax, except hotels full of tourist and not the crowd to which we relate. Going from here to Tulear sounded brutal, so we flew. But flight once a week only and this is not a place you want to get stuck in for too long.

After a bad health experience, you'll think differently. Last month, September -- Morondava, walking on the beach we quickly noticed that the entire beach was being used as a human toilet. The stench, and sh*t visible everywhere, above the waterline all the way to the street. A toilet. We got the hell off there and didn't go back. Meanwhile, people swimming. A shame as many beach bungalow set-ups. Otherwise, nothing to do. There's a disco -- Bao Bar -- gets going after midnight. Its about 10 minutes from center of town by poussepousse down a potholed dirt road.

I had that but it only started causing symptoms months or even years after I must have caught it (in Benin). I could have died, the abscess was 5 cm across. They had to drain it by putting a tube through my belly under ultrasound but without anaesthetics (so that they could tell if the tube punctured the wrong organ like the lungs!) Worst time in my whole life. The hospital in Germany said they only had two cases per year of amaebic abscess. The alternative to an amaebic abcess given my symtoms was fox tapeworm, which is deadly, so in a sense I was glad it was only amoebas.

From then on whenever I visit Africa I take a course of Metronidazole (Flagyl etc.) upon my return. As I understand you can catch ameobas by licking a girl's ass.

Africa is the continent of dangerous parasites. I also buy Zentel (Albendazole) which takes care of some other possible parasites. I haven't been able to find out if Bilharziose (Schistosomiasis) is something you can get through DATY. Humans contaminate water with their u*r*i*n*e so it would be logical for it to be transmissible through sex but that may not be the case (hopefully).

In my case they did do the operation inserting the needle in the MRI tube, highly advanced. Doubt on Reunion you can get that specialized treatment. The initial volume was more then 500 ML, unable for antibiotics to clear. But YES, its rare. I am not sure if any medication can be used as prevention.

On the vegetables: the bacteria are inside contaminated by s. H. I. T. , not on the surface. If not properly cooked above 60 degr, you can catch them.

On pics: my SD-card got apparently mechanically damaged. Looking for professional help to get back excellent memories of lovely girls. More hard to say Au revoir to one then to get them in the sack.

But no adequate hospital wanted to treat me. Back home I got admitted to a special tropical hospital. They saved my life by sucking off 600 ML bacteria from my liver in a technical challenging operation in the MRI.

Of all places -- Sambava, where there's nothing and sometimes hard to get a flight out. Another option (that I did) when needing proper medical care and fast -- Reunion, where it is French standard and insurance. Hope this didn't keep you from going back to Mada again.

Thanks for the alert so I will issue the best medical insurance prior to my next trip including flight coverage.

Never heard about this disease. What if you wash the vegetable / fruits?

As posted originally by JP and others the vanila coast was a monger dream. However Sambava has nothing to offer about girls unless you look hard. Anthala has girls that are ready to jump to any bed although the numbers and quality is nothing special this days.

If you have some examples please share. Im glad you got out of it safely.

You can catch this bacteria among others through vegetables which were contaminated by human "leftovers". I my case I got high ever and shivering, tried to find a doc or clinic anywhere. But no adequate hospital wanted to treat me. I was lucky to get a flight back to Europe on Air Seychelles (Air France in Tana was very blunt in my request to change my ticket but wanted to sell a one way for 1100. -EU. F# at k them! Just come back from Mada and ifaty where I stayed 2 days.

You can find nice girls on the beach. They proposed you a massage.

At night there is the discotheque Sebastien but before to come there many people in the bar on the left.

Most of the hotel closed, empty or nearly empty. Discotheque near the main road nearly the same (when they finish gasoline they use to make electric, the game is over). However, like everywhere in Madagascar you can still find something to do.

Find something to do. My suggest is to go 2-3 days and then go back to Tulear.
