My time here is drawing to an end for this year, I want to share this astonishing experience.

Each may and August there is held a music festival in the sports grounds at Hellville, apparently the May event is larger, I attended the August Samaroh Festival held from Thursday through to Sunday of the fourth week of August. The Thursday kicked off with a carnival through the town from mid day, nothing like a South American effort but plenty of girl touche shakers shipped from all over the province to represent their locality at touche shaking. Another incident in 2013 involved a french guy being roasted on the beach, again a one off incident and from my conversations with Malagasy locals he got what he deserved.

This is 2015 and the playing field is wide open for Vazaha (white men) to enjoy the Malagasy culture of a matriarchal society.

Which does not condemn or inhibit single girls from enjoying relationships before marriage.

You certainly got the best of both worlds with a yacht. I do that in Asia, although my "junk" of 30 foot is not solid enough to sail down there. May I ask if you have a Cat?. The only feasible vessel in my opinion for that region.

Insecurity during anchoring is a problem all over. Anything not fixed will be "taken" once you not on board.

On the main topic. Madagaskar girls. I agree. But I hope the bad infrastructure and high air fares will keep the typical Angeles / Pattaya / Sosua crowd away for coming years. I know this comment may not go down well with many on the public board here. Many of our little paradises like for example Cuba or Cambodia got the axe once the English speaking masses arrived and published it elsewhere.

Mine is a 17 meter cat and yes I already lost my 15 hp outboard! It is necessary to employ a guard when away from the yacht, I have both a marine guard and a 'femme de menage' (housekeeper) the salary here for suchlike is 150,000 to 200,000 ariari per month (euros 43-50) so well manageable.

I take your point on accessibility to the masses but presently I do miss having a conversation which contains more than expressing basic needs so just a handful of like minded English speaking mongrels to share a sundowner with would be great.

I have sailed this yacht entirely around Africa during the last 18 months, its possible via the Suez canal, had some great experiences and some awful ones such as Egypt.

Highlights were the tiny Island of St Helena in the south Atlantic- the 3,500 inhabitants of fruit salad characters are like a cast from Pirates of the Caribbean complete with bandanas, they sure knew how to party. Another exceptional pull over was Cape Agde in France from July to October last year, I would anchor my yacht just off The Pig Pen (swingers beach) and made many good friends with other French yacht swingers.

I have been searching the Madagascar board as I will be in Tana in a few weeks staying in the Hotel Tamboho located in an area called the Tana Water front Ambodivona. It seems that this place is out town a bit. I would be grateful if anyone can advise what the scene is like in that part of town. I am also interested massage but have not seen too many posts on this board regarding the massage extras at hotels. Any guidance appreciated. Well I have had no contact with the police other than to buy one ticket for the upcoming policeman's Ball (a classic that eh?) for 15,000 AriAri about 6 euros.

I do observe daily the French guys, who are by far the majority of expats here, cruising the strip between Ambatoloaka and Dar e Salam with pretty young things.

And certainly the hotels and restaurants are frequented by mixed race couples of a great age difference!

I did have a great success at the Madirokely Beach party this Sunday (Madriokely is right next to Ambatoloaka they share the same sandy bay).

Secondly personal security in NosyBe is enhanced compared the desperate poorness of the inhabitants of Mahajunga, Nosybe is a relatively wealthy area directly due to tourism and thus the safety of us visitors is high in the mind of both the local people and the authorities. Thirdly I reckon that the girls are more prevalent and trying to hook up, yes there are many more professionals but do not discount the hundreds of girls working in the hotels and restaurants who also want to hook up and give a whole lot more of enthusiasm in the doing!
