Very problematic airline. Just got a mail and phone call from Tana saying my returned flight has been cancel and I can choose any other available date. This makes my ticket an open ticket.

Another issue is that many routes has been cancelled. The most important for me is Maroantsetra to sambava. So now, from Maroantsetra I need to fly back to tana / tamatave and another flight to sambava. Not reasonable anymore.

The format of the online booking has been revised and show you only the available routes. So as illustrate in the photo, when you select Maroantsetra as the source, only Tana/Tamatave can be selected as a destination. Sambava can not be selected!

Next week I will need to make some new decisions when facing the office in tana airport.(The reason why not to book on-line in advanced is the 50% discounts available only when purchased in Madagascar office)

Many tourist got armed robed by a well organised gangs.

One thing that bothers me, Sandflies are there anyone of you that have any experience beeing on the beaches on Nosy Be. Sandflies on every beach? All year round? Do I need protection, repellents?.

At this part of the beach at Ambatoloaka / Nosy-Be, where two expats were burnt alive by a crazy mob a year ago, you may watch out for those flies.

I am planning my third trip to Madagascar. After I have been in the south and in Tamatave and Il Sante Marie it feels like it is time for Nosy Be. One thing that bothers me, Sandflies are there anyone of you that have any experience beeing on the beaches on Nosy Be. Sandflies on every beach? All year round? Do I need protection, repellents? If it is bad I will return to Tamatave again. Spent 3 weeks there in April last year. Had a wonderful time with lots of girls. Driving MC around Tamatave, Picked up girls all over town.

This thread is very interesting for me, I agree!

According to my experience, "brousse girl" is definitely the best way to discover real sex in Madagascar, a sex as natural as I've ever seen.

I think the best way to discover those "natural girls" is to rent a car (4 X4 as possible) with a local driver (from a serious rent car service! And spending enough time (not less than 2 days) beyond 20-30 kms from big town like Majunga, Tamatave, HellVille, Tulear, etc.

Most of time, malagasy car drivers are familiar with this "need" of tourists or other vazaha and knows the best area where girls are the best. And you can trust them, they are good guys!

Those "natural" girl, despite their need of "money", will never show you they do sex with you for money! They will cherish you more than their own boyfriend and will reserve you all their time for your stay!

Don't matter about hotel where to go or anything like that, those girls will find for you the best corner where you can spend good times!

Maybe I have been lucky but in the last two years, my two dolls Elinah and Mina were just arrived from "la brousse " a short time ago (and unable to talk English or French) and I found them in week end-night club PANDORA, just after my arrivals (I try to arrive on Thursday depending upon flights, to be relaxed as from Friday for night club).

After one year Mina became a pro; accordingly I disqualified her after one night.

Elinah became a mother (from a Malagasy boyfriend) but kept her freshness for her beloved Vazaha of 2012. She did not became a pro.

Not exactly: Every year that pass, those "la brousse" girls become spoiled as more foreigners are coming. Morondava was "la brousse" 9 years ago and I scored more girls as I could handle. But 3 years ago in my last trip I was very disappointed. The charm and purity was gone.

The new discovery Sambava still has many pure attitude but with poor and below average look. Then, I was moving to Anthalaha and its seems like another tribe, taller, better looking and more eager to jump into bed. However nothing is perfect as many of them are semi-pro already and they know the Vahaza. How did I have solved the problem? I was hunted the Young girls, avoiding the 22 years old semi pro with motorbikes. Does my strategy will hold for my next trip next month? The answer is no! I will need to look for new grounds as things will always get worst and commercial as time pass.

Solution? New towns needed to be discovered so I will add Mananara and Maroantsetra. Mada still has the potential but its like a jungle when the trees has been constantly cut so we need to move on to the next fresh place. Let me report next month I will be smarter.

My friend, Its goes like this: As more you look Young and cute, lower the price you pay even free. (in every country).

In Mada small towns there is no "List-Price", so "Semi-Pro" pricing is based on many factors such as age, appearance, charm and lf you are looking for serious relationship or not.

For me, in my last trip I got them for free in Morondava, Sambava and Anthalaha. I do remember one exception: The girl in Antahala that I posted her photos earlier. She asked me some money in the morning and I gave her 10,000 Ariary for the night. She called me latter a few time asking me to come again. I even got the owner of the hotel Vitasia for free, yes she was horny as hell.

For your specific case and age its better to ask my friend that lives in hotel vitasoa Antahala. He is 63 and like to talk so much and provides valuable insights. Get away from your comfort zone Tamatave, its the least attractive places in Madagascar. More remote you go more rewarding you will get.

In fact I may have been influenced by the following story:

In 2002 at my first visit in MADA (Diego and Nosy Be) the following story was told to me by a French resident:

A young Italian (maybe younger than you) spent two weeks with a girl and at the end she asked for her "cadeau". The guy was surprised and refused. He thought to have spent time with a girlfriend as in Europe. But the girl went to the police. The police told the guy he had to pay the standard rate of that time. A NGO lady even increased the fee for the poor guy.

In line with this story, in that time, I had spent two weeks with a girl (not pro) found in Diego, with whom I toured in Nosy Be.

She had asked for nothing; just a shampoo for her hair in 15 days. But at the end I put an enveloppe under her pillow. She said thank you, but even did not count anything. Maybe I could have paid nothing, especially as I had been very clear from the beginning offering her travelling holidays and good time she enjoyed a lot.

Accordingly I kept in mind that "cadeau" was the rule.

Some years later in Morondava, I get a 18 years old girl who was very much addicted to me. Voluntarily, I did not put anything in her handbag during the first three days. Very shy, she asked me if I could give her some money the fourth day.

Since then, I never talk money with my girls (I consider it might be humiliating as they do not feel and they are not pros) but put money in handbag (that I know standard rate) when the girl is under the shower in the morning. (usually 30 000 Ar) but it is true that even during my last stay in Tamatave, I might have give nothing to certain girl very hot (Fabia in my posts).

And they are so nice, that I would feel guilty just to enjoy -even if they also enjoy much- as I know they are so poor as my sweet Elinah, with whom I confess an affective feeling.

When girls are students (as Natasha in my last posts) , it is clear that they are semi-pro with me and expect standard rate.

But it is true, even at my age, I might save money towards those coming from "la brousse". But I want to give her a good image of "vazaha". Maybe I am a little romantic. But as you rightly say: when you look after perfect ass, tall shape. Go to Kenya; if you want flesh. Go to Pattaya; if you look after some romance go to MADA.

And in ANTALAHA or MARANTSOTRA it is only "la brousse" girls.

BUT. Where should the Chinese you mention do come from? There is no industry nearby, only Vanilla trade. And illegal Rosewood trade managed by the Chinese mafia is in Tamatave.

Antalaha is the epicenter of the illegal rosewood trade coming out of NE "protected" forests. And the Chinese are passing out ariary like candy; new "rosewood" scooters and 4 x4's are everywhere in Antalaha these days. The Chinese now have their own boats to ferry the logs out to Chinese container ships waiting offshore. The Malagasy govt is still taking its share of these illegal profits.

There's a lot of bad talk about Kenya these days. All I can say is that I just returned from 6 weeks in Mtwapa / Mombasa and felt just as safe as I always do and had a great time.

So, it's up to you...- one day it will happen to you too!

There are three discos that comprise Maroantsetra nightlife: Eden Club, Miami, and Vatsy, all of which attract a crowd that dances into the Wee hours. Miami edges out the rest as the renowned location of the annual Miss Maroantsetra beauty contest, a September tradition. Hope I will get there on time LOL

Chinese workers? Yes, Full of them, This why I do not recommend both Maroanstera and Antalaha for any Pattaya / Angeles style mongers. Stay away from those small towns. Tamatave, Majunga and Diego has far better and bigger clubs with full of working girls around the clock 24/7.

This Maroantsetra never came into my focus. Interesting to point on it, W, thanks. And I am looking forward to your trip notes. I may include that corner in my next trip March next year.

And I would like to differ on the discos in bigger towns: they are neither 24 hours in action but only a few hours around midnight and also not really "full of working girls": the hard core matured one you see every day in the clubs. The fine maidens go to the discos on weekends. But better find them anywhere else as you also experienced.
