Has anyone been to Diego Suarez (Antsiranana) in the far north recently?

Last October and would repeat. Transit from Nosy Be not so bad, if you start early and once you get over the island on the boat. Look for guys with SUV's can charter for the drive. Only about 100 EU, private ride, excellent, pick up girls along the route if you see any you like. Antsiranana goes to sleep during the day, comes alive after dark. Arrange your arrival for Thursday, in advance of weekend. Some good hotels, new right downtown. Go for it, fun to be had, just don't go looking for and expecting 'cheaper'.

Advantages: Cheaper than Nosy Be as not aimed at Euro package tourists. Has an eclectic mix of taller black, arab and western ethnicities, plus money-seekers from the Vanilla Coast. Central area walkable. Amber mountain national park a day's outing. Interesting coastline and islands. A day's journey from Nosy Be by taxi brousse.

Disadvantages: Not much to do in town. Beaches are hours away on poor roads. Flight €419 return from Tana (daily); €138 one-way from Nosy Be (2-3 days a week). Hot and dusty in the European winter; currently a milder 20-29ºC.

Yes you'are right. 90% girls are looking for money to help living, this is normal everywere, but I mean not a hard pro who is just jumping one to the other whithin a few ours, you can find them as non regular pro. Thenks for the advice on hotel, I will look on internet about it.

What is "non-pro"? Do you mean you not want pay? Filles want vahazas to pay. Even "your girl". Many girls at the beach or in the discos of NosyBe only work little time and then go back home. Not same as the putains in Paris. This girls are enchante to become your girl for long time. Is it what you like? Just go and look.

Hell-Villa Ambatoloaka is a small place. Parade with your first girl, then other girls at plage will memory you. Better stay with your 1st girl not at Ambatoloaka but at resort north of Isle NB, alone, romantique.

Hi friends, after long absence from ille rouge I'm taking some holiday in June in nosy be.

But part of the time ill be with my girl from Tana, and unfortunately she is not into 3some.

When she will live for Tana I'll take some time to enjoy locals. If somebody have good contact of a non pro in hell ville.

M'sieur Brasil: do not call the people here that they don't know. You want to do local style? Then learn Malagasy or good French. Find an etudiante and lodge at Area 65HA in Tana Malagasy neighbourhood.

If you not like the explanations, expedite Mada and tell us please so that we can learn.

In actuality, I don't doubt that 20,000 ariary places exist in Tulear. Past near to where the ferryboats disembark, but for vazaha to want to stay there doesn't make sense, and much less make a girl stay there with him is not the right move. Not the 'I treat them like a gentleman' move anyway.

In the provinces I did stay with local families. It was of my work with an NGO. And the families are good people and bring another girl from a disco for sex only is very faty. But if the people like you, they perhaps bring you a single lady to be with as "affaire-temporaire"

The M'sier Trefor informations are as you can read in guide books. I think he never try to find "postal-bus". And never ride a moto as long distance transport: moto is nice but very expensive and only for strong cavaliers.

What about if I don't want western-style accommodation?

If you want western-style accommodation in Africa, including Madagascar, it is expensive (even though the people are poor). It is non-standard for the Africans and tourists are relatively few. Thus it is charged-for accordingly. If you want great-value rooms, cheap flights and jaded women go to Thailand.

Madagascar's air links are few and therefore expensive; prices are getting worse as demand increases but supply remains flat. Avoid the European summer holiday season July-August when fares rise by 50. Now that Kenya Airways and Air Madagascar have gotten greedy, the cheapest way in from Europe is Air France. With Air Austral it's possible to fly straight to Toamasina, Mahajanga or Nosy Be (as well as captal Antananarivo) via Réunion but the cost is more than Air France + Air Madagascar domestic.

Then 5 options :

1) Remain in the capital.

2) Travel light by taxi-brousse or postal bus.

3) Rent a self-drive motorbike.

4) Fly Air Madagascar from Antananarivo to the coastal honeypots of choice (by decreasing number of prospects) : Nosy Be, Toliara, Diego Suarez (Antsiranana) , Toamasina, Mahajanga, Morondava.

5) Hire a car-and-driver by the day. Driver's return costs must be paid if dropping-off.

We all have different experiences!

We need to realize that there is no "One size fits all" experience when it comes to Madagascar or any other sex destination.

This forum exists for people to share their experiences. We are not in a competition to see who outspends who. And not all of us have a 6-7 figure salary. And no one person can sit here and tell me or any other person: No you can't or no that is impossible.

My concern was lodging costs and options.

It seems that there is limited experiences and not limited options.

And I don't take "no" for an answer. I will take "I don't know" however.

The question for those who know: What and where are the more economic lodging options in the island?
