Some background, I'm an experienced travelling third world scavenger and believe I can handle basic security challenges, so no need for "friendly advice to stay away" but thanks anyway. I have some free time before upcoming Asia trips and thought I'd check out Madagascar as airfares to Mada seem reasonable. I'm looking at touching down in either Tana or Nossy Be. My French is probably passable, we will see.

I have been checking out Badoo and constantly get most hits from Tana, in fact Nossy Be girls are rare. I guess many of the Tana girls are freelancers, but I haven't really cracked the code how to tell FLs from more regular girls. Does anyone have experience of pulling girls from Badoo and the pro ratio?

I've seen reports that it may be difficult to exchange even crisp Benjamins (really? Any tips how to get good rates for USD (in Tana / Nossy-Be)?

Many hotels look pretty mediocre, unless you want to go with the international brand names. I prefer 3-4 stars, clean with working AC, refrigerator and not too many dodgy guests (except me) max rate around 50-60 USD / night. Happy to accept lower if comfortable and clean. Checking online I see a myriad of rather dysfunctional hotels. Any suggestions? If you read back on my posts you can see I'm not a lemour tourist who will overpay girls, I will stick to the going rates indicated here.

A. Forget Badoo and any kind of social Networks. The girls are almost never online. Only the super rich own a smart phone.

Be. Forget your freshly printed US Dollars. Utterly useless on this island. Bring 100€ cash or use the good ol ATM.

See. Forget the western conception of free lancer. Pro or whatever you call it.

The. What you want a 4* hotel for? You want to waste money? Get a clean vezo hut for 10 $ a month.

E. your French will be almost useless. Most girls speak about 20 words. Fair l amour? Combien? All you need. They know how to count in french. Be aware there's 2 currencies. FMG and MGA.

F. Stay away and book to Thailand. There you'll find your 4* aircon hotels.

G. You're not suited füare Madagascar.

Therefore. Stay Away.

Thanks for the info guys. I may pop by after I arrive and see if the construction is ongoing or over. I was also thinking that the proximity to Glacier was very good, one of the closest hotels.

Did the construction now reached the hotel? Or did they just not put their rooms for 2023 into the system? There is no room available for any date in 2023 .

On the other had from the pages I've read Tana, Antananarivo has street walkers but also a few freelancer bars which is more my style. Some of the names include Mojo Bar Manson and du Glacier are there others.

Also is there a good hotel that has a good gym I'm not a budget travel so any price range is fine thank you all for your help.

Save your money. For a week nobody flies to Madagascar. Plan a month. Minimum. Fly to Ibiza. Ethiopia or Madagascar is for the advanced Africa monger. Take out your training wheels and book to Mombasa. When you've been ripped off a couple of times you're cleared to Uganda and Rwanda. After that you're cleared for Tanzania, Ethiopia and Madagascar.

I'd pass in Ethiopia right now. There in the middle of a war. Not the safest place to go until that is over.

Yes Comoros is possible. But be forewarned that alcohol is very expensive there. All are imported and big tax! And not just alcohol many things are so f. Expensive! I was there for around 10 days and I didn't score, not worth in my opinion! But it is an interesting island though!

Forget all the outlying islands for our hobby.

Reunion. Territoire the outre mer. If you like to shell out 100 to shag the same Malgache hookers. Hahaha. I meet Reunnionais here in Madagascar they fly to Madagascar to hobby.

Mauritius. Prostitution is illegal. There's regular raids on illegal brothels. Malgache hookers get deported.

Isle Comores. Flights very expensive. 95% Muslims. You can score there for sure. Up to you to shell out a fortune in air fare. Check Ewa Air.

Mayotte. Again French territory. You might score there with refugees from the Comoros there.

Don't think if you're young and good looking. Doesn't make any difference at all. Irrelevant in subsaharan Africa. I am 59 and shag nothing older than 23 years. And that's OLD.

Ah. And Madagascar is not a sex tourist destination. For that avail yourself to Pattaya with 27.000 30+ years old hookers to choose from. Madagascar is for the discerning Africa adventurer who avails himself to the local pleasures.

I'm actually visiting Mada for business (I know: weird, right?) That business will stretch out over at least a month, but will be taking up remarkably little of my time. So, I want to take advantage of an opportunity, and maximize the amount and variety of sex I have while I'm there.

That being said: there'd be no point in getting excited about experiences I could just as well have elsewhere. I've got plenty of "30+ years old hookers" right next door at home, so I've never seen the point in visiting places like Thailand; and if that's all Mada had to offer, I wouldn't be planning my trip the way I am. It is indeed all about those "local pleasures" that one cannot find elsewhere.

Oh, don't I know it! I've dealt with all of that plenty. It's my first time to Madagascar, but not my first trip to Africa. I think I'm pretty used to it all now. (Which is the other reason I'm not overly excited about the regular tourist schtick. I've seen the jungles, the beaches, the beautiful waterfalls, the rolling pastures, the tribal people, the cities crammed with fire-code-violating stick-built three-story buildings, etc.).

I agree with that, mostly; from what I was able to dredge up online, most of these islands don't seem too promising. I just wanted to see if anyone on the ground knew something I didn't about them.

The one interesting exception seems to be Mayotte. It has extreme levels of poverty (no local industry, and it's a dependency clinging to France that France itself doesn't want, and so does nothing to aid); and so the girls there may actually be cheaper and more eager than anywhere in Mada. It also helps that, AFAICT, there's basically no reason for rich tourists to ever visit the country (no resort hotels, no real hospitality industry; I think the only reason foreigners ever visit at all is to see some special species of lemur? And so the "foreigner tax" will likely be minimal.

In other words, Mayotte seems to have the relative cost-of-living and quality-of-life of a "conflict region" like South Sudan or the DRC or (most of) Angola. But without "wandering the slums" implying you might get shot at. (At least, you're no more likely to get shot than you would wandering a slum in the US, haha.).

I would think that, if one is interested specifically in making poor civilian girls "too much money to say no to" offers, without breaking the bank for themselves, Mayotte might be interesting, even moreso than Mada.

(Also, for someone already in Mada, the round-trip flight to Mayotte is apparently only $300-$500 -- not too bad.).

If anyone knows better and can tell me that that's all hogwash, though, I'd like to hear it before I potentially waste a week of my trip checking it out.

But I do almost find it reassuring that even the Mada locals don't know much about Mayotte; it means that it might be not-talked-about because it's an obscure subject, rather than being not-talked-about because it's worthless to consider.

If you are a newbie go to Nosy Be for the number of hookers available. If you want to try your luck with "civilians', Tana or Tamatave are your best choices. If you are here for less than a month, definitely limit the number of places you plan to go, especially if overland.

Thanks for the recommendations! My schedule isn't set in stone yet —*if I wanted to look into all three areas, what would you say would be the minimum amount of time I should spend visiting to get a real impression? A full 90 days of a tourist visa?

Hi, my experience in Tulear is limited but I liked LE Dromadaire. A lot of French expats and a few WGs not bad looking. Also, the food is half decent. Opposite there is I a disco but I never went. You might also want to check out the local university. Lots of pretty girls. Buy you need good French to communicate and it is far away.

Here a some pictures of the disco street in Tulear. Made in "LE rose Noir" at night. The one picture inside was from a empty day and very early in robyv.

There is a new disco with the name "Safari". Not so high distance from LE bouef and in the same street of the restaurant.

So I think places to find girls in tulear:

- Robyv - more professional girls, more space for everyone.

- LE rose Noir - More people, more normal kind of disco, cheaper.

- Safari - Smaller place, more normal girls, but easy to find someone.

- Streets at 7 pm to midnight, Boulevard Lyautey.

- On the entrance bench by the LE recife from 7 pm till 10 pm. Sometimes 3-6 girls for massage.
