The point I am trying to make here is that it's probably not wise to send a tourist into Hillbrow at night. We do have alot of German, Dutch, and American tourists in ZA I dont need to hear it on the news. And as much as others think Hillbrow is safe for a white guy to be in that's not correct.

There's definitely two schools of thought going on here. But let's put it into perspective. It is definitely not safe to walk in Hillbrow, day or night, and particularly at night. The Summit Club in Hillbrow is worth a visit. It used to be the only place of it's kind. It's safe to go there if you go by car and park in the car park run by the club directly over the road. A guard will usually escort you the few metres from the car park to the club and, to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever been mugged crossing the road from the car park to the club. If the car park is full and you have to park even one block away, don't go! IMHO it's not safe to walk even that one block.

However, there's now a few clubs around that offer equivalent entertainment. For example, there's a place called Club Malasia in Randburg (Bram Fisher Drive near the Randburg CBD) which is basically a strip club with girls available for take out. Another similar place in Randburg, but more upmarket, is the Lollipop Lounge. This place is a strip club where the girls dance for everyone and then wander around doing private lap dances. No sex available but some of the girs are available for take out. A number of other clubs as well.

I wouldn't recommend Hillbrow to the tourists or would I go near that place at night. A white okie has no buisness in that area at night and you are most likely asking for trouble if you are there.

I try to offer the perspective of someone who lived there and suggest they be cautious. The fact that people are going to Hillbrow at night concerns me.
