I decided to take a stroll based on rumors I've heard of some bars being open. The only open bar in Juffair appears to be Cosmos on the second floor of Ramee International. Not sure if I would classify it as a bar though. The music and TV screens were all secured. The bar was completely stripped down. However, there were about two dozen working girls inside. LE in Bahrain have teams of people whose sole occupation is to read every single post on this ISG (and similar sites) referring to Bahrain. Of particular fascination to those teams of cops and intelligence officers is the structural and financial relationship between narcotics, organised crime and terrorism; and nobody but nobody wants to get on the wrong end of that combination.

Whilst Bahrain may have a relatively relaxed and liberal view of low intensity prostitution while it remains contained in manageable areas the country Bahrain definitely does not have a relaxed or liberal view about the possession and use of illegal narcotics.

I think there are users of this site who need to grow up and develop a realistic appreciation of what is really going on. Just got back to the island and immediately called my regular for some post-travel stress relief. Knowing that Ramadan is in full swing. I'm afraid that this seems to be the case. First evening before Ramadan at 10 pm all the bars closed. And everything else as well.

How long it will last, I really don't know.

If overstay is for a few days they don't mark it in the system, what you do is pay another 25 BD (equivalent of two weeks extension)) even if overstay is much less. Having said that, I have seen the system is a bit temperamental there is no fixed procedure sometimes I feel. My girl keep making visits to Bahrain, so, I suggest instead of paying at airport, pay the fine at passport directorate near Gosi on exhibition road, a day or two before departure. They may make serious faces about it, but let's you pay fine and stamp passport with extended date. And you are good as new and would have a clean exit and entry at airport. Have a good reason ready for overstay.
