Well, there are a lot of posts asking what to do, where to go, who to meet. I don't think my few days in Amman have provided all the answers, but here is a brief overview of the results.

General: people are very friendly and local girls will certainly enjoy chatting you up. Girls will easily give you a phone number, and engage in long discussions to the early hours of the morning, but I had no luck getting much beyond a kiss from the local stock. Amman is still at heart a very conservative town, and the girls are simple and have romantic ideals that contrast to my lusty desires. I am sure there are free roaming bunnies out there, but I did not meet them.

Jordanian girls seem to come in at least two distinct styles. Heavy and intent on getting heavier, and lithe minxes. I am drawn to the lithe minx type, and these girls in Amman can rate world class in looks.

There are also a lot, and I mean many, Russian girls here. As was mentioned in earlier reports, they are not all pros, but they are not shy about sexual forays. Many work in bars as hostesses, where you can chat them up and catch a feel if you buy them drinks for 10 to 12 JD (about $15). You can get their number on occasion, and try to meet them on your terms.

I met a lass at a bar, bought her a drink and she agreed to meet up with me to go sightseeing the next day. Actually, she came to my hotel room at about 4 AM when she got off work so we could get a quick start on the day (the five star hotels don't give a second glance at people coming in and out). We did the nasty deed and spent a day seeing some sights. I paid her way around, but gave her no tribute for the act. Very cute, Russian—she said she was here for several years 'studying' or doing whatever she does. She also claimed the girls in the bar were not pros, but as she was quick to strip off her knickers, I suspect others have similar moral standards.

General ideas.

Rainbow street: A good place to stroll and meet people. Local girls (not pros) wander the road for fun and will talk with you. I met a girl who gave me her number and we had some phone calls, but it went nowhere and I lost sleep listening to her prattle on into the wee hours. Some bars and sheesha places to hang out and watch the time pass though, and perhaps get the phone number of some girl who will do more than keep you up on the phone.

Bars: There are a number of places where the locals who dwell in a certain reality bubble hang out. I cannot name them all, but Amigos, Murphy's and some of the hotel bars will work. I met some locals in these places who seemed fun, and if I had more time I am sure things could work out in my favour. There are plenty of bars with Russian girls, like Biblyos and West End Pub, some some terrible rip off joints like the New York Night Club ($50 upon entry for a beer).

Tarts: At the end of it all, I found no professionals. Granted, I had fun anyhow so did not give it 100, and I am sure they exist in the right place and time.

Conclusion: Amman is a pretty town, locals are friendly and you can have cold beer without looking too hard. It is expensive, and girls can be very pretty, but it is by no means a place to come for mongering purposes. However, if you find yourself here, you can likely get some fun out of life.

I am now on a semi-long-term consulting assignment in Amman and in Saudi Arabia. Very good money but very bad places for hobbying. Having to depart the lusty pleasures of Kiev (from time to time) means that I am out of my comfort zone and need to re-sharpen old skills.

I have been here in Amman for two weeks, with another week to go before returning. I am staying at a company apartment so going down to the hotel lobby to check out the possible local talent is a bit difficult and who knows where the butterflies may visit from night to night. I have also read all of the Jordan forum and the bars such as Hangover are a definite financial turn-off. So for two weeks, I have been mostly working but also curious as to how I can score some fun.

Last Thursday I went to one of the hotels for dinner. Afterwards, one of the taxi drivers tried to take me home for far more than the standard fare, also a normal occurrence but I just decline. Having lived in Kiev all these years, sticking you hand out at any location is useful here as well to pick up the very many cabs not part of the hotel scam.

This fellow was most insistent and his luck and subsequently mine held when I accepted his offer to pay one JD more than normal, all of $1. 40. However, this extra 1 JD paid off handsomely.

He spoke good English and then offered to take me to one of the clubs. I declined, saying that these were mostly rip-off joints and he in the end agreed. Then he said he knew of Russian girl who would be willing to meet me directly. The deal was that he would call her, if she was free he would take me to meet her at her home and if I wanted her, he would take us to my place, then come back later to pick her up. I agreed since I was very curious what would develop plus I needed to have some fun.

On my way to and from Kiev on the flights I have taken to Jordan, I noticed that at least 1/3 of the plane (to and from) was filled with great looking babes, flying alone. I assume these were the rip-off club girls where you pay enormously for drinks for yourself and the girl and then you may or may not take her home for JD 200. If you did get her to play, your entire bill, with drinks, could go northward of $500 or more.

So we drove off to her home and she came out to the car. Mid-thirties, face 6, body 8. Price of 200 JD for 3 three hours. I agreed. She went back to the house to get her stuff. I paid the driver a tip of 20 JD. She came out and we went back to my apartment and promptly enjoyed ourselves for what turned out to be a price of $90 per hour for the girl alone. A great evening since the sex turned out to be really good.

The best part is that now I do not even need to contact the taxi driver. I can contact her directly (which I did again yesterday) and she has friends she can introduce to me in that particular Russian girl ex-pat party girl community and all without the benefit of the rip-off clubs.

The next time I am in Amman after the New Year, I will meet up with my current contact and see just what tasty treats await. In the meantime it is back to Kiev and hobby heaven. No, not Rio but my own personal way of doing things there.

Oh, yes, as for Saudi, that black hole of hobbying, I am fortunate that I will be in Dammam and will make that trip to Bahrain each and every weekend. Reports to also follow.

To sum up, in Amman cabbies are very useful fellows but only the ones hanging about the hotels. Chat them up and see what they know and then ask directly for any possible contact outside the club channel. You never know as I did where that can lead.

By the way, sorry but I won't provide contact details for this lady since she is not a full-time pro and I want to not scare her off at this time when I will probe for additional ladies for my Amman collection.

In short Amman is not a good place to hobby. It is expensive and difficult for non Arab speakers.

1.) There are a few clubs in Amman, but the problem is that you have to buy expensive drinks and in most clubs the women will not leave after just one drink. However I can only recall two clubs 1) Hangover and 2) the Blue Rose Hotel. There are other clubs, and taxi drivers will know most of them, but none are cheap.

Hangover: This bar only has European women. A beer for a guy is about 10 buck and a drink for a girl is $15. The woman are the most expensive in the city, but they cater to gentleman looking for European women. I believe the price was 300 dollars.

The other bar Blue Rose Hotel in Shmisani is only Arabic women. Drinks for a lady are $20 dollars, but the women will not leave after one drink. They will ask you to stay and have another drink. If you ask them to leave, they will tell you they can leave after the bar closes at 3 am. Can't recall the price.

2) JJ's: JJ's is only good on Thursday and Friday night. If you go any other night the place will usually be empty.

3) Jabal Alhussein: The problem with this place is usually never see more than 1 woman there at a time, and the hours are very limited. Furthermore they will not talk to you if you are not in a car. They will actually run if you try to approach them on the street. When the women are approached by a man on foot the immediately turn away. Therefore a car is a must and there is usually never more than one girl at a time.

4) Massage parlous offer extras. Usually $100.

5) Taxi drivers may be a source of information. One offered a girl for a massage for $100.

All in all the place is not good for the sport

An outline of my experiences in Amman over the past 2 months.

Firstly, be very aware of the challenges if you don't speak Arabic. Most girls only speak a little English, so it may be worth getting a local companion to go long with you, maybe a taxi driver or friend.

Secondly, its difficult to actually shag the women here. There are escorts around, but in the clubs themselves the women will play games with you. They will give you their phone number, but: it may be a wrong number, they ask you to call them but then don't answer, they ask you to call back etc etc.

And it's expensive. Most clubs charge at least 10 JOD (14 USD) for a beer for you, and at least 15 JOD (21 USD) for a lady to drink with you, then add tax / service charge as well and you are looking at 17 USD and 25 USD respectively. And DO NOT FALL for getting a table as this will cost maybe 25 JOD. Then they will trot out some sad looking nibblies (chips, cucumber, tomato, olives, fruit etc with dip) automatically without asking and afterwards charge you 25 JOD for it. I guess my main warning is ASK PRICES INCLUDING TAX / SERVICE FEES BEFORE you order that drink, accept those nibblies, sit at that table. Personally, I would say that Arabic hospitality is a myth; there are definitely strings attached.

Clubs I would recommend:

- San Rock Hotel, near the Twin Towers at 6th Circle. Mainly eastern European women that usually speak passable English, and a few Arabic women.

- Blue Rose Hotel in Schmeisani. Mainly Arabic women.

- Sky High in Swefieh. Mainly Arabic women.

- Absent, near 7th Circle.

- Eve, Swefieh. Mainly Arabic women.

Most taxi drivers know where these places are. If they don't they will find out, or if they don't know catch another taxi that does.
