There difference between visiting a place and living there is huge. I've just finished 2 years in Jordan. Looking at the specific issue of internet access, all I can say is that it varies. In my apartment I had wifi supplied by Orange and there were no access restrictions: dating sites, porn, gambling or whatever. Hotels may well have surfing restrictions but it should still be possible for visitors to access DIA etc in places like Starbucks – I did. UAE and Kuwait certainly do have widespread surfing restrictions, but the situation in Jordan is not as bleak as has been reported here.

Mongering in Jordan is limited, Amman and Aqaba do however have some opportunities. The numerous 'Russian Bars' defy belief. They are ridiculously expensive to frequent and at best might result in a telephone number for a later private meeting. But to my mind they are designed to separate locals from their money over the bar and really are not worth a visit, so avoid at all costs. A friend of mine wore down a stunning Jordanian woman – divorced, late 30s – working in a clothing store in Baraqa Mall (Swafieh) and sees her every Thursday night when she tells her family that she's out with girlfriends. I guess all 2 or 3 star hotels will ask questions about you extra guest and your relation to her! And they would not allow it as such is being banned by the government as they would not want to go into trouble with these different governmental entities. However, such hotels may at some times take the risk for that and would ask you to pay extra money. Such depends on your relation with that hotel or with the employee on duty. That's I do not recommend. Maybe you should at this point take a furnished apartment rather than a hotel. And that is an apartment that you could have the guest you want at, and at your own risk. Now on the contrary, in 5 star hotels none would ask you and any girl could visit you at your room at anytime, here the budget of course is much higher as 5 star hotels cost per stay is much higher than 3 or 2.

Was in Amman last month. I have to accept I'm a noob and didn't know about this forum earlier otherwise things might have turned out differently.

Want to share what happened with me while I was there for three days.

Got out of my hotel at 10pm to search for a place with action. Found a taxi driver who took me to a bar in Imperial Hotel.

First of all, I had no idea these places offer insanely over priced drinks. The server explained how and what will I be charged for. I was so desperate to pickup a girl that althought I found it to be very pricey but I decided to stay. Ordered a table (extra charges for that) and asked for an Arab girl (you pay 15JD for every drink she orders. And all girls there order drinks like there's no tomorrow. Yes, it's a ripoff ). 2. Cocktail bars. Well, the biggest ripoff I ever seen. There are 2 kinds. Arabic cocktail bars and CIS cocktail bars. The first ones are quite boring with lots of smoke, arab dancing and fat girls. But sometimes pearls can be found from Tunisia or Morocco. I know one guy who got lucky and took a number of one Tunisian girl and later met her on his ground. The problem is the language. You have to speak some arabic, cause the girls don't speak arabic there. The CIS bars (mostly found in some hotels like Imperial Hotel, or in Sweifieh and Shmisani areas). Be ready to pay around 15JD for a drink for the lady and yours is not really less expensive. I left there around 200JD first time I went there and won't be coming back unless invited. Managed to get couple of number of Ukranian / Belorussian girls. But it doesn't guarantee you fast track to score. First you'll have to take them for a dinner, then maybe Dead Sea or even Aqaba and only then you'll get your reward, maybe. And it may be free, so your dinner and resort bill will not go higher. But I heard there are ones who go for it right away for like 150 JD.

3. Bars in some hotels where WG hang out. I had an experience with an Iraqi girl I met in Buddha Bar in Royal Hotel. But wuite expensive. I paid the drinks and gave her 210 JD.

The performance was not worth that money, no DATY, no BJ.

4. Filipinos. Quite lots of them in Amman. But hard to find hot ones like the ones you can see in Dubai. Look for them on tagged, DIA, facebook. They hang out in Holiday Inn disco French quarter. The problem with Aqaba is where to walk in and find the girls. There is a Filipino restaurant down a side street roughly between the Double Tree Hotel and the Aqaba Post Office. Expat Filipinas can earn ladies drinks here and will come back to your hotel, but don't assume all will just because they are there. In both Amman and Aqaba expect to pay at least 50JD for a Filipina to stay the night but don't expect expert 'service' as most are looking to supplement their meagre income. Also be aware that many are 'runaways' without papers and will be wary of police and any requirement to show I'd to get into your hotel.

Initially I found Jordan a real challenge, but by using Facebook, DIA, persistence and advertising for cleaners as ways of introduction, I had a great 2 years there.
