I lived in Qatar for a long while bur relocated to UAE 2 years ago. I am now travelling quite a lot to Doha for business. Typically stays one or two night. I was over there recently and went to Qube as I read in here that there would be some action. This was a Monday night, though, and there was little to report about.

Took a cab to Sheraton. There were a few PRCs in Waterhole. I came too late and it was closing time. A few older PRCs tried to cling on to me. But standard was too low, so I returned to hotel empty handed.

I used to have a few good contacts in Qatar, but lost the numbers when I left. I would appreciate if anyone can point me in the rigth direction as I do not have time to look around too much when in Doha. I normally stay at Ramada or Cigale when in Doha.

An update for mongers on Qatar:.

Oasis Beach Hotel. It's currently a half demolished pile of rubble so don't even bother going!

Marriott Hotel. Pearl Lounge

Totally dead except for a pair of stunning Chinese/Taiwanese girls, definately not WG material as they were drinking wine by the bottle. Other than that, not a mongering hang out.

Grand Mercure/Sofitel

12th floor bar is a gem if you like faux English pubs but very limited WG action. Total quantity of three Chinese WG who appeared to be the bar "bikes" as all the regulars knew them well

2nd floor bar is to be avoided. Witnessed a fight between the PI singer and a member of the audience involving a sheet music stand. Full of arab and indian punters. 2 Chinese WG present but seemed to be floating around the same guy (pimp? ).

I had the pleasure of staying in the Sheraton for one night this week. The pleasure being that the Waterhole is in the same building. A total quanitiy of three slightly worn Chinese girls was the nights selection, not fantastic.

The more critical fact is that when I started haggling with the last remaining girl, she said if she stays with a punter in the Sheraton she will be banned from the hotel. I waited until closing time and she left alone, it obviously is not worth the risk.

Was quizzing a taxi driver the other day as to where the girls hang out. He replied with the usual Sheraton, Qube, etc, then he said something interesting.
