Actually I found out Damascus is one of the hottest scenes in the Middle East!

First let me thank for your previous postings. Finally I made my own experiences in Damascus and they were mixed.

I stayed in the Sheraton and went to the Disco right at my first night: I can confirm that this is not really a disco, but rather a mee (a)t-market. Full of chicas, not a single one is not a professional. Every girl is available, dancing or not. I spotted a nice one (or better she spotted me) and she sat next to me. She did not ask for a drink or anything like this- but came straight to the point: "you want sex? ". Looks like the Iraqi refugees in Syria have expanded the options for P4P in Damascus consideribly. One never knows about the validity of a NY Times story on prostitution, since the NY Times considers prostitution a crime against humanity, but many aspects of the story sound true.

Too bad we don't have better relations with Syria. Our boys in uniform could use a little R and R; the few scraps on the Iraqi board suggest that this is the worst war in history when it comes to pussy (my brother in law still talks wistfully about 'Nam- cheap chicks and cheap drugs. He actually signed up for a second tour of duty rather than return to civilian life since non combat time in Saigon was so much fun. Unfortunately for him, the Tet ofensive began the first day of his second tour...)

Having lived in Damascus for 3 years, without a doubt the most likely place for wg is the Meridien Hotel disco in the basement. As soon as it opens at around midnight the girls start filling the place up. Usually Moroccan, Tunisian, Syrian (of course) and Eastern European (Polish, Russian, etc.)

Have had 5 girls out of there, usually the going rate is 150 Dollars or Euros (hard currencies only gents). Experiences awere usially good apart from a Syrian girl who was terrible. Like a sack of spuds and on the hurry up from the moment the first button is undone. Was so p1ssed of with her I lifted 100 Euro of my money back out of her jeans as she was in the other room telling her friend to hurry up with my mate.

The best were the europeans, I think they prefer the treatment western men give them as in 'treat a lady like a *****, and a ***** like a lady'.

There are other bars around but the system is typically manged and designed to get you spending your money on drink and not girls.

Places like 'the Cave to Roi' opposite the Taj Mahal (only indian restautant in Damascus close to the Cham Palace Hotel), the 'Caravan' jsut down from the steam train station along from the main entrance to the Hamidyyia Souk in the Old City, and the place on the way to the airport alled the GArden soemthing or other, are there to get you to sit and pay loads of money to drink overprices alchohol and talk to girls for something like $15 for 25 minutes each.

If you do find one you like, the deal is you have to visit them at their crummy hotel the following day betewen set times, typically 2pm to 6pm, but the negotiations are up to them. Typically about $100 for the 4 hours, and you takes your chances. If you are not happy the only place to go is home and froget about getting yor money back. Best is to only pay 1/2 up front if you can get away with it.

Most hotels will not allow working girls, apart from the Sheraton. The Disco there is also a place to find arab girls, the available ones are on teh dance floor, but my two times in there were like ME benig in the cattle market. Disinterested and mechanical conversation, so I did not bother as I was sure it was a taste of things to come.

Elsewhere there are $10 syrian girls to be had, but only if you are a Gulf Arab up for the summer break. And I would not want to follow some of those animals anyway. I hada great Syrian friend who used to drive a taxi and knew the scene. The girsl were treated worse than dogs by these men. The hypocracy is stunning.

Otherwise try the Bar 'The Back Door'. Be careful as many of the girls have an 'uncle' in tow, but the available ones will give you the eye, but let them make the suggestion unless you want to end up having your visa cancelled.
