Women plead not guilty to prostitution charges

DUBAI — Chinese nationals L.L., 39, L.Z., 33, and H.W., 45, all visitors, pleaded not guilty to charges of prostitution before the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance yesterday.


Another Chinese defendant, H.K., 31, too pleaded not guilty to the charge of running a brothel.

Emirati police officer A.S. testified that the CID had assigned him to raid an apartment in Rafaa area which was used as a den for prostitution.

“We were tipped off that there were Chinese women offering massage services in the apartment. Our sources told us that the massage services were being used as a camouflage for prostitution.

“During the raid on the apartment around 11 pm on December 1, 2007, we found the women defendants almost naked. We foiled their attempt to escape. Boxes of condoms, mini-digital cameras and account books were seized from the apartment,” the officer said.

One wonders about the purpose of the "mini-digital cameras".

I confirmed with staff at the Music Room that the bars will be closed for the Holiday from around 6PM on Wednesday 19th March untill around 6PM on Thursday 20th.

This probably means the bars will be shut from sunset on Wednesday to Sunset on Thursday. I would be worth phoning you favorite watering hole to see if they are open befor venturing out on either Wednesday or Thursday.

Here is a report from todays Gulf news that mentions yesterday's case and more. This seems to be fall out from the MP and appartment raids at the end of last year.

Dubai: A court has given 14 Asian girls and two pimps [in two separate cases] varying jail terms after they were found guilty of working in what law enforcement officers described as 'sex-houses'.

Law enforcement officers have recently beefed up their campaign against sex workers and prostitution dens as Dubai police arrested about 170 girls, from different nationalities, and referred them to courts.

On Monday, the Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced two Chinese male pimps to six months in jail each for running a brothel of seven Chinese women who were each given six months in jail.

On Sunday, the court sentenced seven women, including six Indians and an Indonesian, aged between 24 and 38, to one year for working in the sex industry.

Among the seven are 23-year-old Indonesian, A.A., and six Indian women identified as J.J., 37, S.S., 27, J.K., 31, C.K., 34, B.N., 30, M.A., 28.

According to court records, the women were arrested in a raid in November last year in the Naif area.

In his testimony, police officer R.M. stated, “On November 29, 2007, we received reliable information that many apartments located in the Naif area were being used as dens of prostitution. We kept a close eye on an apartment believed to be used by some Asian nationals for that purpose. When we raided the apartment around 9.30pm on December 1, 2007, we found the seven women. There were also four Indian men.

“The women admitted that they were indulging in prostitution. The men, however, said that they met someone outside the building and he offered them women for money. During the raid, condoms and contraceptive pills were also found in the apartment.”

I am more interested to see how they will cope the onslaught of drunken Brits who think that they can behave as in Southern Spain... that will probably have a bigger impact as it happens on the streets.

Yep, you should be fine.
Myself? I would expect LE to score on some (foreigners of course) Mustapha's Adventures fans at some point in time (yes, i think people is dumb enough, and evidence supports me). They may also hit on some (foreigner of course, and probably South Asian or Filipino) heavy user of p2p services just to tick the "intellectual property champions box" and look good regarding the WTO.
And again, I do not think they would prosecute anybody for accessing or posting (unless you are extremely critical of the Government/ruling family) on a punters' website. That simply would make no good in terms of the UAE's approach to freedom of expression.

If there is enough interest, yes. In practical terms you would need to be singled out for deeper digging. Still, I would refrain from downloading stuff that would be illegal in my home country (like child porn).

This is only a personal observation.

BC and Zing explain the situation well.

In my experience, exactly four times in the last ten years have I "given a number" of a specific lady to another monger. The following "test" was applied:

1. Was the lady amenable to having her number given out.
2. Was this someone I had personally met (a superficial way to weed out psychos.)

In two of the cases, I had no doubt, under ANY circumstances, that both the provider and monger would be happy. In the other two, I knew it would depend upon the tastes of the monger in question. There was never any doubt as to the safety of the provider in question.

Bottom line: You can almost never predict how two humans will interact. what I CAN do is ensure that anyone "suggested" by me is safe, that applies to both sides of the equation.

As for "covering photos" that is up to the individual punter, but I agree with the premise of a gentleman´s agreement. I personally have given up on posting pics (though mine were the very first on the photo thread!) since it seems to appeal to the "one-handed poster" crowd rather than gentlemen hobbyists.

One exception I have made (and thankfully have never had to regret, yet) was passing (with permission) the number of a "house" to certain people I had not met, but who, through their forum persona demonstrated to me that they were "normal" kinds of guys who would enjoy the services offered.

This is personal judgment, but certainly fallible. Up to now, I have been lucky.

The senior monger, as pointed out by others, would almost never ask for a contact, they already have them. Having said that, if certain senior members (who I have not met) were to ask me for a contact, they would get it, and I suggest they would do the same for me.

As an anecdote, I had a provider, not long ago, begging my forgiveness(!).
She had taken a customer who is a friend of mine, but at the time, she was not aware that he was a friend of mine.

Question: If someone asks me (in a PM) to share the number of a WG, what is the norm? Should I share the number directly? Should I first make the effort of checking with the girl whether I can share her number? How do I know how genuine the requester is? Is it the number of posts? If so, what number of posts constitutes "genuineness"?

I would agree with Zing that the experienced monger will hardly ever ask for a number, it is, after all so easy to collect your own. In fact the biggest problem seems to be collecting too many. I would always exchange numbers with the girl, so If I call her it's a recognised number. I number of girls I know were not at all happy when they received calls from unsolicited numbers.

In answer to the question should you pass on numbers? There are risks, as Zing points out. I must admit I always wonder WHY the guy needs a number when pulling is so easy here.

Unless you do it anonymously, if you pass on the number it comes with some sort of recommendation from you, and the girl may assume that you are vouching for the guy. There is also a risk to your reputation, you put a girl in contact with a lowlife and the word will get around very quickley.

If you ask the girl for permission my guess is she will want to know something about the person you intend giving it too. (what’s your name, where you from, the usual stuff)
