Remove the spaces in the last word of the link, as this site does not allow for hyperlinking using this word. Maybe it thinks its an email address. I don't know-hope I am not breaking any rules.

Thanks for the heads-up.
I don't mind paying a little more for a higher quality, is the quality that much better at 100?
I was also wondering about the massages. I read a few reports on here about FS massages. Is it fair to say that any massage place in town, FS can be bought?
Thanks for your help guys!
I really appreciate it.

Posts: 9Staying In Yangon in 2 weeks
I am staying at the Parkroyal in 2 weeks and wanted to know how good the club in the hotel is. Some sites say that the club is full of women. Is there a better place?
Is it really $50 for the night? Any limitations with available acronyms?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Posts: 161 week to Burma next week
Hey all,
Taking a trip to Burma next week and I was hoping for some advice. Basically I imagine the cities are transforming by the day as the country is opening up and I've read the forum but was wondering if it is basically updated or obsolete? Are the prices still around the same at places like Emperor Club in Yangon? Are there any new places?
Anywhere to get action in Mandalay? Bagan? Would really appreciate people's input. Thanks!

Posts: 765Myanmar probes suspected bomb blast at Traders hotel
October 14th 2013:
Myanmar was investigating Tuesday a suspected bomb blast at a luxury Yangon hotel that wounded a US woman, the latest in a series of explosions in the former military-ruled nation.
Authorities said the recent incidents could be aimed at derailing the country's pro-democratic reforms as it prepares to host a major regional sporting event and take the chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The injured American was taken to hospital with wounds to her thigh and her hand after the blast ripped through a guest room at the Traders Hotel in central Yangon late on Monday, police said.
"We assume that it was a bomb blast but we are still trying to find out more information," a police official at the scene who did not want to be named told AFP.
Military officials and soldiers with sniffer dogs were seen at the hotel while shattered glass covered the road outside.
The hotel, part of the Shangri-La group, is located in the heart of Myanmar's commercial hub. It is popular with foreign tourists and visiting business people.
The incident followed a series of earlier bomb blasts but it is not clear who is behind them.
A man and a woman were killed and another person injured in an explosion Friday at a guesthouse in the town of Taunggu, about 65 kilometers (40 miles) from the capital Naypyidaw, police said.
Two other devices exploded in Yangon on Sunday. One at a bus stop and another under a truck, which wounded two teenagers, according to authorities.
Two more makeshift devices were found in the cities of Yangon and Mandalay on Monday.
"We cannot say who is responsible for these acts," said Police Lieutenant General Min Aung of the Myanmar Police Force's intelligence and security department.
"We're still investigating. The system they used is the same in all the cases. We think an organization or a person planted them all," he told AFP by telephone from Naypyidaw on Monday, speaking before the blast at the Traders Hotel.
Bomb blasts were relatively common under the former junta, which usually blamed the explosions on armed exile groups or ethnic rebels.
Three bombs rocked a park in Yangon in April 2010 as thousands of revelers celebrated an annual water festival, leaving 10 people dead and dozens wounded.
But such explosions had become rare under a new quasi-civilian government which took power in 2011 promising political reforms and efforts to end long-running ethnic insurgencies.
Presidential spokesman Ye Htut said the recent bombs were intended to spread fear.
"I think that someone or some organization asked some people to explode the bombs," he told Radio Free Asia's Myanmar Service, saying they had done it "with the intention of making people worried and scared".
"I think that the explosions may have been timed to coincide with Myanmar becoming the chair of ASEAN and getting ready to host the Southeast Asian Games, to make the international community misunderstand the situation of stability and peace in Myanmar," said Ye Htut.
Myanmar last week officially assumed the chairmanship of the ASEAN regional bloc for 2014. In December it will welcome athletes and sports fans to Naypyidaw for the Southeast Asian Games.
In a message posted on its official Facebook page, the Yangon police appealed to people to be vigilant for any suspicious objects at railway stations, bus stops and other public places.
"We also urge people to cooperate to find those causing unrest and casualties with explosions," it said.
President Thein Sein's reformist government has reached tentative peace deals with the major ethnic minority rebel groups in the country, which has been wracked by civil wars since independence from Britain in 1948.
But the nation has been hit by several outbreaks of Buddhist-Muslim religious violence since June 2012 that have left about 250 people dead and more than 140, 000 homeless, mostly Muslims.

had been to yangon last week.
here are few updates:
atm is available at the airport and at selected shopping malls.
high speed internet now available in most of the hotels and coffee shops.
sim card / cell phone is still a big problem for the tourists. they charge usd 10 as rent per day for the use of sim card. you need to top it up with extra credit to make calls. surprisingly international roaming on my phone was working.
some good quality taxis now available at the airport and also in the city.
there is a taxi counter just after the duty free shop. checked the price. its 5000 khats for the downtown (traders, park royal, etc)
currently 1 usd = 970 khats.
lots of positive changes since my last visit. sounds really good.
best part is that the duty free shop at yangon airport is after the custom clearance. you can buy as many bottles as you want. they just have alcohol and cigs.
cheers!

Posts: 12Question re: ATMs, credit cards
What is the latest on getting cash once one is already in the country of Burma? I plan to bring plenty of 100s, but need a back-up plan. I've read elsewhere that is is now possible to get cash advances on one's VISA credit card. Debit card service anywhere? I don't care if there are fees, in this case. Any news?
Thanks

Pre drinks in Koscan 19th Street. Cheap 800 cocktails, not potent but ok and the BBQ stalls outside are good and cheap. At about 8. 30 to Zero zone opposite Emperor. Rooftop bar with fashion show. Met some of the models in the lift. 2 nice one very arrogant. Fashion show just that. Weird. You buy a girl a garland for 5k and then she sits with you for 5 minutes. No chance of take away and then they leave for the next venue. Why waste money on the flowers? Maybe for locals it's an (expensive) investment. At about 10 Emperors, girls.
Still good looking but no connection. About to leave when I saw the arrogant model from before working the tables. Confirmed with the waiter that she was available for standard 50k. Didn't take up the offer but exchanged a knowing glance with her. She embarrassed, me trying not to smirk. On to Lucky again. Straight to fashion show. Got talking to two girls and was weighing these up when I kept getting hit gently on the back of the head with paper balls. Looked back and got a wave from a beautiful Burmese Indian girl. Excused myself and went to say Hi. She was on a table with a Korean guy and 3 other girls. Asked the Korean guy if I could join them. Long story short had a great time.
The Korean guy was really nice guy and restored my faith in Koreans as the others I met in Angeles Phil were frankly Assholes. Rude, arrogant dicks. Lots of drinks, chatting and dancing after the fashion show. The girl was beautiful and made all the right signs, so after saying my farewells to the Korean and his coterie, headed back to the hotel. Great gf sex at night and in the morning and then at about 10, she went on her way for 40k. Maybe not beautiful but a really fun night with a happy ending.
