Yangon was my nice little discovery until my latest visit. The Emperor used to be great for young, pretty, natural girls, but now it's totally changed. If you are not Asian the prettiest things won't even look at you, you'll have to pick from the third drawer. Music Club is crap, overpriced, overrun with asian guys and fat ugly women who you assume must be Mamasans, but they are not. All prices seem to have shot up. It was $10 taxi from airport (formerly $7) , the Panorama was $44 per night (same room, same agency, formerly $32) , $5 in to the Emperor (formerly $3) , $8 in to the Music Club (formerly $5). Add to that the low exchange rate to the $, and Yangon is now off my map.

Anyone know if the fairly new East Hotel on Sule Pagoda Road is GF and if so to what degree (types of I'd, etc)?

Or for that matter any other new hotels in the centre, pretty sure I spotted a big new one about to open when I was there in Febraury.

Never mind, just noticed the toilet arrangement in the rooms. Bizarre!

What gives you that idea? I usually pay girls at the higher end of any going rate. I would happily pay $50 for one of the pretty girls at Emperor, but it does not seem to be a matter of cash. When girls get into a culture of only going with asian guys (as in many places in the PI these days) money does not seem to be the issue. Asians, especially Koreans and Japanese, are often more insular (in our PC culture we would call it 'racist', but of course it is not PC to call non-Caucasians 'racist') than westerners. They think we are in some way 'dirty', that we all have AIDS and other diseases, and so asian guys often don't want to go with girls who also go with westerners. Hence you end up with groups of young pretty girls who simply won't go with westerners at all, because it might spoil their chances with asian customers.

It's up to the japanese or Koreans if they want to go with girls who only go with them.

I'm very new to this site. I'm making a trip to Yangon from Sep 22-Sep 25. It has been a while I was at Yangon. Last time was 2007. Just wanted to know any changes from the usual places? Have they opened any new joints?

Hello, Fellow Mongers.

I am visiting Yangon for 3 days in this week.

Have been to Bangkok, PP and other destinations in Asia. Going by the reports posted here, Yangon mongering is very different as compared to other Asian cities.

Any guidance from the veterans will help me utilize my time in a better way and also post a report on the forum.

If any one is around in Yangon (6th. 8th July 2011) , please do let me know as we can meet and explore together.

Latest visit to Emperor gave mixed results: arriving around 9 pm on Wednesday, the club had a good ratio of at least 5 girls to 1, and a decent choice of attractive girls. Found a nice number with a lovely body. 18 yo and very little english. She joined me for 30, 000 Kyat short time to my hotel. From there it went downhill: shy girl, absolutely passive in bed, no DFK, short BJ. Well, one can't be lucky evry time and the lottery is part of the fun. Maybe one advise: be careful in the selection and don't choose the very young ones.

Yes, the low-end yiddo type guys are now priced out of Yangon. But, for anyone looking for high-end experience in Burma, it just isn't there either. A worst-worst scenario.
