Yesterday I said this place was rubbish for having fun. Last night I went to have a look at these supposed bars. They are all in 24th street. Easy to find. I stayed at the Chit Sayar Hotel: 646 Mahabandoola Road, BTW 21st / 22nd, Chinatown. www.chitsayarhotel.com. I booked on Agoda. Com for $165 for 3 nights. This hotel is only 3 blocks from Emperor. It is very clean, comfortable and GF (girl friendly). The front desk will take the girl's I'd card like in Bangkok. I found that Agoda. Com had the best deals in all three cities I visited.

I have read about someone doing it by train, but officially foreigners are banned from taking trains to and from there. To Mandalay from Yangon is ok. I think you would struggle just buying tickets as it is likely no-one will speak English there.

Thanks Kerrstar for the info. I heard that traveling up to the north from the south border with Thailand was forbidden before and recently should be possible. However if there is no action I hesitating if this worth to do it. During my trips I try to combine sightseeing with mongering.

Yes, it's quite accurate, maybe a little towards the north, but correct side of the street.
