Posts: 6305I ended up staying elsewhere but I did speak with the front desk at both Sun and Moon and De Art and they both confirm they are girl friendly. You may want to call again to confirm before booking. I understand De Art can be a bit noisy from early in the morning being right beside the bus station.

Some random news about PP, I think Massa is closed. On street 252, in the location where I think it was supposed to be the 2nd floor was under construction, the guys downstairs said "Massa closed" and pointed to the 2nd floor under construction. They had some kind of seedy operation on the first floor that perhaps is taking advantage of the location which they offered as an alternative, I declined to enter. It may be possible that I have a poor sense of direction and was just in the wrong place. Someone who knows what they are doing may confirm. However 252 street is pretty small. I'm not sure where else it could have been hiding.
At Nagaworld things seem to be out of control. Girls were asking for $50 as a fee just to sit and drink with you for a while. Personally I do not want to pay for such a service, or perhaps buy a couple of lady drinks at the most. I was interested in going there and chit chatting with some ladies but I don't think it's a service I want to pay $50 per girl for. One can talk to girls in bars elsewhere for free or at most a couple of lady drinks. Maybe avoid Naga altogether unless you can afford to waste money and are in the mood to do so.

I have a (long lost) friend who passed away. I only found out because I was thinking about SEA retirement options and I knew he had retired to Cambodia. My first net search turned up nothing. A year later I found the obituary.
He was a hard drinking man and he may have died from, you guessed it, liver failure. If any of you gents have met him, I'd be very appreciative to hear about his life in Cambodia.
Walt was in his 60's, ex-Marine (USA), had been a translator in Japan. He wasn't so outgoing, and he kept his cards close to his chest, but if got to know him you'd remember him. He was a good guy, with soft heart, but tough exterior.
Send me pm if you met him.

In Angeles, old bills are more acceptable. You might be able to change it there.
Use it in the US.

Posts: 6305I have a $50 US bill that no one will accept since it is too wrinkled and has writing on the back. What can I do with it? I guess I can give it to a Cambodian girl but I don't really want to do that to a girl who worked hard for her money.

Posts: 6305I prefer modern style hotels so the 3 places I am interested in are De Art Hotel on Street 106, Sun and Moon Urban hotel on Street 136 and Harmony Phnom Penh Hotel on Street 148. I will go ask this week.

Almost all hotels in Phnom Penh are girl friendly. In fact, the reception at the hotel where I stayed asked me whether I wanted a massage. When I agreed, within 10 minutes they sent a massage girl to my room. $6. 00 for the massage and $30.00 for FS.
You just have to know in which area you want to stay. Make a list of hotels according to your budget and requirements (breakfast, swimming pool, fitness center etc). Write to the hotels directly and see the replies.

Posts: 6305Like Lonely566, I'm also interested in checking out some long term leases in PP. I found some sites like Rooftop, Cambodian Angkor Real Estate, Realestate.com.kh , etc. Are these the best ones are is there better?
One surprising thing about PP is the lack of girl friendly hotels. Maybe I am missing a good site. Which is the site you guys use?

If I'm there for a few months, I would consider the Cadillac Bar and Grill. http://cadillaccambodia.com/.
That American leases or owns the bar and the apartments on top of it.
The apartments has a riverside view. The apartments on the second and top floor are more expensive. It's fully furnished.
It seems safe. It has a good location. It's located on the riverside near the corner of Street 136. There is no security, but IMO, it's very safe. You enter the units from the back located on Street 136. The stairs are somewhat dark, but Street 136 is crowded, and it should be safe.
I can't remember if it has a full kitchen. You get discounts if you sign a 6 month or year lease. He also rents it out on a shorter time frame for a higher cost.

I'm going to be in Phnom Phen for a few months. What's a good neighborhood? And a good rental with security and a kitchen.
I've heard Riverside is a nice area.
And if you know a good rental agency to.
Call let me know.
Thanks.

Posts: 139BJ Bar near the river
I remember reading once about a BJ / HJ Bar a block or two away from the river from the Blue Pumpkin cafe. I have read back on the forums here and have not found anything. I have a friend who will be traveling to PP for business next week and wanted to give him a heads up on the place. Am I just getting old or is there a place of this sort near the river?
Thanks
