sure not all the girls are forced into it. but apparently, it's fair to say that the majority are. i would much rather go to a country where you don't have to think about whether the girl is ****d, and whether she's forced to do it.

after 2 days in pp i have enough of it and leave as fast as i can back to ihailand. there is no order here. one member said that it is better to rent a motorbike and not to go with the mototaxi drivers. i tried it and after about 200m from my hotel the police stopped me and asked me for 5$ for being a foreigner. and there is about every 500m a policeman waiting for you. so far about that bullshit. martini and sharkey are the only places which are o.k. because most of the girls are not forced or sold into prostitution. most of the other places like the local brothels are horrible. there are many girls at the age of 15 or even younger sold to the brothel and work there for 50$ a month. and nobody cares!

cambodia is not a place for mongering except you are ****. this country makes me sad and i am on holiday to have a good time.

Day One:

Arrive at PPH from Bangkok and am through the SEVEN person assembly line immingration processing without problems. Flight was only 1/4 full (Siem Reap Airline/Bangkok Airways) and when over quickly. Used the third floor passport booth to get my photo, so no problems with immingrations or customs. Meet my taxi driver, Sovan Mee (sovanmee at hotmail.com) there at the Airport. Was plessed about how new and clean the airport was, especially compared to Thailand airports. Sovan took me to the Walkabout hotel, where I stayed only one night. Walkabout has an excellent location, 24 hour bar, and nice, laid back feeling. However, the rooms, althrough clean, were too spartan for my needs, so only staid there for one night.

Sovan squired me around a bit, took me to Sharky first. Sharky was OK, decent selection I thought, if some of the less better looking ones very pushy. After a bit, off to Martinis. Martinis, to be truthful, looks and feels like a dump, and this in in dim lighting. Did not think the girls were as nice looking as Sharky. So, after a bit, went back to Sharky where I took a very slim, pettie Viet/Cambodia girl. She had a nice smile and an ass you could bounce a battleship off of it. She was natually about 100% hairless and was very professional about the business. Had a nice time, paid her $15 plus $5 tip for better than average performance for ST.

Day Two.

Sovan picked me up at Noon and I shifted my gear to the Queen hotel after looking it and the Hawaii. Queen was recommended to me by Sovan. Seem to be the more or less quality wise than Hawaii, but had bathtup which I liked, and some very nice looking hotel staff, whereas I found the Hawaii to be overly business like. There is also a travel agency and Internet on the ground floor, which is also nice. Sovan took me on a city tour, lunch at the Wagon Wheel (I think, decent food) by the riverside, and latter, to a massage palor. Cannot remember the name, but it seemed par for the course. About a dozen girls, I took the one with I thought the best body/face combination. Gave an OK massage ($5 per hour, discout for more than 1 hour) and then paid extra for sex. Again, average sex, no DATY, but boy, did she have fantastic breasts. Full and firm on an small and slim body, ended up cumming all over them, and it was well worth it.

That night, went to Sharky and took one of the pool playing babes. Cambodian, a bit taller, nice breasts, high cheekbones, named Avy. Took her long time, nice girl, good sex, but nothing really special. Body was very nice however, better than your average Thai girl by a lot. Next day, wanted $30, which I refuesed. Ended up paying 25 to get rid of her. Will get price from next Sharky girl.

Day three:

Sovan took me to the Genocide musem (where they tortured 1000's) and later the killing fields. Both very somber places, and everyone should be made to look at the 1000's of photos of the prisioners, many women and young kids. Never should something like this happen again. Prehaps with the information age at hand, such my never again happen, or at least in secercy for so long. Hard to tell, such is the wickeness of man.

Afterwards, went to Walkabout, and hooked up with a tall Dane. Dane had a pretty nice girl (if a bit screwed in the head, INHO) and I spent some time with a cute girl there. Her body was nicely put together, but face had a lot of acme scars, which I did not mind. Looked like she might have had some French blood in her. However, the Dane wanted to go to Shanghi Bar, so I told her I might be back, and left. Shanghi is setup more like a Thai beer bar, in that you can take the staff out after paying a BF. Not much quality, but a lot of girls. Best looking oned was an 18 year girl who was not going out with men. Afterwards, we went to Sparky, where my first girl kept pestering me to take her and her friend. I was tempted, but keept remembering the first girl, so when the Dane when home with his girl, went back to Walkabout. Of course, was gone, so ended up at Heart of Darkness.

The girls were the usual mix, some nice, most average, some dogs. However, once very tall and quite stuning girl was there over by the pool table. Estimated her her age to be 30, even accounting for the "look younger than really are" Asain syndrone. Started chatting her up and we seemed to hit if off quite well. Asked her if she would go back with me to my hotel, and she agreed, but we had to leave seperatly, since she did not go with men!

Turns out, she is a mid-size business owner, and had not been with a man for quite some time! I knew something was a bit of a departure than normal when she followed me in her late model car. Turns out she is in her mid-forties, about six years older than I am. But, the body and the desire were that of a 30 year old, or younger. I have since then stayed with her, with mid-afternoon rendouvous when she can get away from work. Do not mind the age at all, since with that age comes a lean, hard body, soft in all the right places. Very responsive to every touch and feel. Besides the bedsport, she can speak good English (and German/France) so is fun to be with outside of bed. Already have seen a bit of Cambodia off the beaten path, so am enjoying every minute of it.

Am having to be careful with her feelings, for I know that she has been ill used in the past. On the second night I ended up holding her for awhile as she from events in the past. She was married to a jelouse German for a few years, but that did not work out. I thought that prehaps the money for her business came from the German, but no, she had that all before that. She is old enough to have been a teenager during the Khmer Rouge, but when I asked about it, she did not want to talk about it. Do not blame her, and that may be the source of her heartwounds, but really do not know. A lost baby could also be another cause. In any case, found a real special lady, and will do my best to keep her happy these next few days. Am worried about getting too deep, but am being careful. More concerned about her heart than mine, althrough my heart could become captured if not careful. Not sure if that would be a bad thing or a good thing.

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) -- A popular karaoke performer was
hospitalized
after his jealous wife tried, but failed, to cut off his penis while he
slept Wednesday, Phnom Penh police said.

Kan Bun Hou, 26, was asleep when his wife, Ma Len, attacked him with a
razor blade, said Touch Sarin, a Phnom Penh police chief. Police were
looking for the woman, who fled after the attack.

``The injury is not severe. It could have been worse if she had used
scissors,'' he said. ``His wound is treatable.''

The attack apparently stemmed from Kan Bun Hou's popularity as a
karaoke
performer. The couple had fought the day before.

``He's a handsome man and used to party a lot at night,'' Touch Sarin
said.

In August, a man was allegedly killed by his wife after she squeezed
his
testicles until he fainted and then tied his neck to a bed with a
scarf.
The woman, who said her husband used to beat her, turned herself in to
the

Strangely, I can relate to the guy who was there for just three days. If you want to see shit you'll have to pay. And starting out with a B11,000 ticket and a $20 visa doesn't give you the impression you are entering a third world country.
I heard from quite a few experienced travelers that it can be difficult to pay reasonable prices in Cambodia, with the US dollar reigning supreme over local currency. Your minimum price basicly is $1.
Further more, we don't really know what the poor Cambodian can buy for his one dollar bill, perhaps just as little as we can and only the moneychanger is happy.
These things can get pretty complicated.
But honestly, Cambo can't be much more expensive (less cheap) than Thailand. And Thailand of course is very cheap if you look at the quality for cash equation. Places that appear to be cheaper simply don't make it to the Thai quality level. And there are places where you have to hand over a lot more cash and the quality still sucks: Caribean, Baltics to name just a few regions.

I only spent one day in Phnom Penh and I didn't go to the firing range or to the Killing Fields. I started early, hired a motorbike/driver for $10 for the day and visited the Central Market, The Royal Palace, The National Museum, Phnom Penh itself (a small hill with a temple) and the Prison. That was plenty and occupied a full day. In PP I ate at The Riverside Restaurant on Sisowat Quay. Nice French food and they are associated with a neighboring establishment named MatiHari. While eating dinner at the Riverside bar, a nice looking young thing sat down next to me dressed in black. The waitress, dressed in white, explained that all the ladies in black were from MatiHari and were available to take home ($30) and all the ladies in white were not available. Since I preferred the "lady" in white, I passed on the "lady" in black and went to Martini's instead.

The Sisowat Quay in PP is "restaurant row" and is quite close to the hotel I stayed at (Regent Park) and, I was told, Heart of Darkness Bar is nearby and it was recommended by a couple of ex-pats. Since I was only in PP for the one night, I didn't try Heart of Darkness.

That's ok..I can understand sometimes when you don't want to hassle. Any other restaurants that you'd recommend? Sounds like a few days in Cambodia was enough...did you hit the firing range? That's something I still want to do someday! Gotta relive my nam days!

Chikan: I think you are correct regarding the driver--I just didn't want to hassle with finding someone else right then and, like I said, he obviously needed the money. Regarding the hotel, I don't think I overpaid much. Siem Reap is full of all kinds of hotels from the new Sofitel at about $300/nite up all the way down to fleabags. The Sakura Village was middle of the road and it might have been slightly overpriced--but not much.

Also, I neglected to talk about the nightlife in SR. Frankly, I and most tourists were really exhaused after a full day at the temples, but I did check out the Martini's in SR--it is now strictly a disco. Not my style, begins late and loud music. I spent no time there. Apparently there used to be an outdoor "bar" associated with it, but no more. I did visit Zanzibar (Zanzy Bar) on each of my two nites for "before dinner drinks" and it is a nice little place. Run by a French speaking Belgium fellow and there are lots of pretty Kymer ladies available. On the second nite I took up one girls offer of a $15 massage at her place. Her room was quite close to Zanzibar (about a 5 min. walk) but it was down a dark dirt road and, frankly, about half-way there I began to get concerned about the neighborhood. It turned out OK but I don't know if I'd do it again.

Her attitude was nice and she was about a 7 in looks. Really, don't go to SR for the mongering.

BTW, I ate each night at The Red Door, a very nice little place in the middle of town that served French food. Good service, prices and ambiance.

Maybe the other more seasoned vet's can concurr, but that seemed to be a lot of US cash that you spent! $50 for a hotel? $120 US for 3 days to have some guy drive you around.....Again, maybe I'm way off base, and I'm not attacking you personally; just seems expensive! Just returned from a 3 day trip to Cambodia. Bought the air ticket in BKK at Excursion Travel on Soi 5 for about 11,000 baht. BKK to Siem Reap for two nites, then flite to Phnom Penh for one nite and then back to BKK. I had some passport photos taken on Soi 5 before I left BKK for the Cambodian Visa. The visa processing at the Phnom Penh airport is quite efficient and costs $20. BTW, I flew on President Airlines, a Cambodian carrier. Probable only have one airplane, but the service and equipment was OK, especially for a 1hr 10 min flite.

After obtaining the visa, I had to make my way to the Domestic terminal for the continuation of the flite to Siem Reap. If you ask, people will direct you but no information was originally volunteered, so I was a bit confused about where to go. The domestic terminal is very close, so it's no problem to walk.

Arriving in Sie Reap, there is a taxi desk directly outside the terminal doors. You pay $5 (Yes, everything is in $US) to the desk and they assign you to a taxi for the trip into town. On the drive in the driver made it clear that he'd like to be my guide for the next couple of days and show me the temples and whatever else I need. He was fine, though the 1985 Toyota Camry was kinda ragged. Originally, the driver told me it would be $20 per day. I didn't have any hotel reservation so the driver suggested he knew a small hotel near the Old Market for $50 a day. I said fine and he took me to the Sakura Lodge. Pretty good location, very clean, lots of beautiful wood furnishing and internet access in the lobby. All in all, it was fine. By the time I got settled into the hotel it was about 3PM and the driver said he'd be back to pick me up at 5PM because it was important to view the sunset from the top of a small hill near Angkor Wat. It was the right thing to do I suppose, because the hill was covered with people and it is quite a site to see.

Next morning a 7:30 AM, driver was back for a full day of temple viewing--including some that are 30 to 40 kilometers out of town. On the way to the first temple, the driver informed me that because we were going to the "far away" temples, the price per day would be higher. By then, of course, I was sitting in his Toyota at 7:45 Am and half way to a temple. It was really no big deal but I ended up agreeing to $120 for the three days of service--trust me the guy needed the money and he was very helpful and always at my disposal. He even ended up taking me to his home the last day, clibed up a tree, dropped a couple of coconuts, hacked them open and shared a drink with me. It was quite an experience--most of the people have no running water and no electricity or phone. I didn't feel bad about giving him $120, but you should be aware of the issue and probable hash out the total agreement up front.

In order to view the temples (which my driver said were al sold to a Viet Namese syndicate!) you need to buy a ticket. The ticket is $20 for one day, or $40 for a three day pass. The 3 day pass requires a photo which they will take for free at ticket booth.

No ticket is required after 5PM, so you can view the sunset for free and a a one day ticket for the next day. Really I think that's enough.

The flite to Phnom Penh leave Siem Reap late in the day and the a domestic arrival is pretty easy. Walk out the domestic terminal and lots of taxis will be available for $7. I stayed at the Regent Park for $45 and I think the location was fine. Quite close to the National Museum, the Palace and the waterfront area with many restaurants. It was, however, a long ways from Martini's Disco, but really only a $3 taxi ride. Martini's is really quite a nice place (OK, not NICE) but OK. It has a food court area, a separate disco, and a large semi-outdoor bar area. It has all the "ladies" you'd want to meet. Mostly VM, I think. I met lots of friendly Ex-Pats there and had a very nice time, though I didn't indulge. I was assured the $20 price was for all nite.

Although I didn't visit the Killing Fields, I did take a tour of the prison and it's a very moving experience.

There are no ATMs in Cambodia, but you can change US travelers checks into dollars for a 2% fee. Carry lots of $1 bills and also obtain lots of 1,000 real local currency notes to give to the many, many deserving beggars.
