Nothing is absolute, and everyone has their own preference. I for one prefer BKK, MNL, or DXB for mongering (I must caveat that with the statement that I did not sample much in PNH, so perhaps I missed out). Others like the exotic experience of PNH or Vietnam.
My primary purpose for visiting Cambodia was not for rocket launchers, it was actually more cultural vis a vis the ethnic lifestyle and history, particularly around Siem Reap. Next time I am in the neighborhood I will spend more than four days, and try and sample more while I am there.

For a description of the scene read Amit Gilboan's "Off the Rails in Phnom Penh: Into the Dark Heart of Guns, Girls and Ganja." Should be available in the region.
I bought a copy through Amazon in the U.S. in 1998 for $18. I now see a paperback copy offered for $47 by Amazon. The book is not so great but offers a few insights into the Cambo society.

Damn good shooting-especially if the duck was a moving target.
I've seen tourist shooting AK's and couldnt hit a 5x5 foot board just 20 feet away.
BTW: did they at least offer to cook the duck--

Yup, much cheaper just to join the army and get all the weapons free of charge----IMO

My mate paul asked for the chicken and for $15 they produced the duck and put him down the far end of the range.
A few shots from the AK had the duck dancing and then one beneath him blew him two meters into the air.
All good fun really, except for the duck....

The gun/rocket/grenade thing wears off quickly--especially after they hand you the bill (like I said, firing machine guns on full auto and tossing a few grenades adds up to a huge bill), but fun if you never tried it before.
BTW: still alot of illegal (or legal?) gun dealing in PP. I was on motodop on the other side of the river and going toward the south side of PP when he diverted off to a side street where another man tried to sell me his AK-47 assault rifle and 2 full ammo clips. He also said it was ok for me test fire the weapon (in the middle of the street?). I declined of course. So guns still abound in PP, so be careful out there.

As I said, this is just a general observation as you could come across some that will treat you right and this theory goes out the window.
BTW: there are way more women available for P4P in LOS than in Cambodia. The total number of WL I'd come across all over Cambo that I'd visited dont even come close to 1/4 of the WL just in Pattaya alone.
Cheers.

When I went, a cow wasn't offered for target practice but pretty much everything else was. I guess steak wasn't on the menu that nite--ha ha

The official government line on the cow thing is that they really frown on this activity. Supposedly, they have closed down all of the shooting ranges but they are still in open operation near to the airport (run by the army!!).
I seem to recall that the rocket launcher was $400 and they drive you to some more secluded spot. This was quite a relief, when I heard, as it didn't seem like the sort of activity to be taking place so close to the international airport.
The grenade throwing, at the site near the airport, involved throwing the grenade into a large pond, and so it lost some of its appeal.
Running up a large bill through using gun set to automatic hasn't been an issue when I've been there as they give you a magazine containing the number of rounds you want to purchase. A dozen rounds in an AK47 set to automatic was enough for me to realise that I wasn't cut out to be a soldier and that my ears and shoulder are made of schoolboy-like material.
The AK47 and M16 are things that I do not think I would get to try anywhere else in the world but even the revolver and shotgun are things that I could not achieve easily here in the UK. I'd suggest it as somewhere experience and it is just another of those things to act as an interlude from mongering. (Probably sacrilege suggesting that anyone might want a break from mongering but there you go!!)

Posts: 3074When I went to the range, they told me they´d throw in a skinny cow to blow up with the grenade launcher for another couple of hundred bucks. Supposed to be popular with the Japanese tourists.

PT,
Yeah, I can't really decide on what to do... I've been to Thailand a few times, so thought I'd try Hua Hin in March since it hasn't been overthrown with tourists and the Sheraton's new 5 star property opens a few days before I arrive. I am tempted, though, by the prices and amount of women dancing around PP on any given day. I know I can get decent accomodations for $40-50 a night, and plenty of girls, but I'm still undecided. Have you mongered much in Thailand, and if so, whats your comparison with Cambodia? Do you find the girls are more GFE in Cambodia? I'd really appreciate your thoughts
Thanks
