In my mind, there are two kinds of "guest friendly" policies: that which allows you to bring a guest without charge and that which charges for a guest (even if you've booked a double room). Like you, I avoid those that charge extra. Too many places that don't charge extra. (I don't mind a hotel requiring the guest to leave an ID or show ID upon arrival. The Lux on Str. 136 is in that category. That is, no extra charge, but must leave ID).

Posts: 90Anyone know if the Palace Gate Hotel & Resort is GF? Last time I stayed at Sun&Moon hotel and altho nice and in middle of the RL district they charge you 10 Usd every time you bring someone in. The money isn't so much a issue but the policy is so odd for the kind of place and location so I'm up for a change.

If you do the tuk tuk option, then it doesn't matter where your hotel is.

You can check out some other hotels to get the pool option: http://www.canbypublications.com/phn...otel-price.htm.

Posts: 977Hotel location. Does it matter?
Have done some background research and RTFF. In my previous destinations, Bangkok, Bali, KL, Pattaya, Phuket, Cebu, Manila etc it was safe to walk around esp at night.
It appears due to spread of bars and safety aspect that tuk tuk door to door is better option.
So does it really matter (within reason) where hotel is, seeing there and back should be by tuk tuk.
Looking at either around Central market or Riverside.
LE Grand Palais looks good as close to Crycee but no pool and a little down market.
Am a FL type of guy so disco ala Pontoon and bars are my hangout.
Require decent size room, Western bfast, pool, quiet at night, 60 - 80 US. Any ideas or just point me into general area I should stay.
Okay Boutique has good reports?
Appreciate.

As I often do prior to a trip across the Pacific to Asia, I do a bit of recon. This includes checking boards such as ISG for current info, surveying YouTube videos, and corresponding with guys I know who have boots on the ground or who have made recent visits.
While checking out one of many YouTube videos, one caught my eye. At first blink, it seemed to resemble those "fashion shows" for which Yangon is famous. Check out the link here before reading on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTFQxeL4NRo.
My usual sources were unable to provide me with any help in identifying the venue or confirming that my instincts were correct. After a few weeks, I turned to my Khmer girlfriend's brother for help. (he's single, a part time monger, and knows Phnom Penh.) he advised that he had no firsthand knowledge of the place, but one of his associates, had, indeed been there. His associate reported that he "pulled" a chick for $40 short time. The associate is Khmer, and my source did not know if the girls would be eager to go with a farang that they did not know. The name of the place is New Night World. It is located very, very close to the Chinese embassy.
Within the first couple of nights of my next visit to PP, I was accompanied by two of my girl friend's brothers to New Night World. The interior of the place is basically laid out like a dinner theatre. There is seating for several hundred guests. But this was a Sunday night and there were only about 70-80 (mostly small groups of Asian guys) sitting around tables. Some of the guys had obvious "hostesses" sitting with them. The three of us basically could sit anywhere we wanted. Though food was available, we only ordered beers which were relatively inexpensive. As I recall $1.50-$2. We were asked if we would like any female company, but we declined at the time, wanting to get an idea of what might be available. (The Khmer speaking person who escorted us to a table said that there were a few ladies who spoke a little bit of English.) We had observed a large number of nicely dressed and very attractive damsels sitting near the entrance, but it was at least 30 minutes before any of them made their way to the stage as backups to a couple of singers.
Turned out that the entertainment heavily featured some serious singers, as well as the "comedy" routines enjoyed by Thais in Tawan Daeng venues in BKK. It isn't a mongering destination primarily, as the local Khmers take their families and mixed groups there for parties and normal dinner dates.
I'the just gotten a new mobile phone that day and was anxious to give the video feature a tryout. Here is a very short 15-second video I made. I posted it on YouTube just for this report. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEdZy9y1X6Q.
I might mention that the "star" of the group (in my opinion) was the rather buxom beauty at the front in a red dress. I was considering have her sit with us ("sitting fee" unknown), but she was already committed to another table. The waitress who kept pouring beer into our glasses and keeping ice in them was really cute and friendly (and had a nice body). To say that she was English-challenged would be accurate, but she did try. I got the impression she wasn't on the game and I wasn't either-- that night. My married girlfriend was due to visit my room the next morning and I needed to conserve my "precious bodily fluids".
My overall impression is that the New Night World is primarily a Khmer venue (I was the only farang in the place). I would probably consider it a hybrid of the so-called "fashion shows" in Yangon and the Thai variety shows in Bangkok. IF most of the gals are "on the game" (not at all confirmed), they are collectively quite fuckable in terms of looks. And, if $40 is the price for short time, I saw many I would rent.
New Night World has a Facebook page which describes it as "beer garden adult entertainment service".

We went to another place that was basically a brothel advertised as a hotel, KTV. It was busy with a lot of Asian customers. We got there kind of late, so I'm hoping that the "good" talent had already been kept busy, as the available chicks were certainly less than that needed to get me an erection. Prices for KTV room and drinks were cheaper than Soul, but we chose not to stay after seeing the lineup. I ran across this place while doing a bit of internet research. A review on Trip Advisor made it sound like a great place to book. Ha ha ha http://chea-rithy-heng-hotel-k-t-v-p...hotels.com/en/ https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...hnom_Penh.html.

Also, how was the performance? I've been to places in Phnom Penh and it was often quite a mechanical deadfish performance with lots of "not this" and "not here".

And can anyone recommend a few hostess bars that I should visit? There seem to be so many these days, and I really want to optimize time.
