I guess you can describe them that way if you're not happy with the way I described the area. But "the white building" doesn't appear on any map by that name while Sothearos Street certainly does. Anyway, yes that entire row of massage parlors on the left when traveling south offers HJ. Most of the 10,000 Riel places on the right side further south do too but they are absolutely disgusting inside. As do the massage places north of what Phnom on France street and probably 50 other places in PP.

Riverside is more hit or miss and has been for the last few years. Tourist influxes, NGOs with spy cameras and wanting to clean up the image of the most popular part of the city is the cause.

What is "Souk's Place"? Do you mean Sokun's Place? It was on the riverside for years. HJ was normal but usually not skilled and with a high asking price. Then it moved next to Kiwi Mart on Street 110. It's not there anymore. Did it move again or close?

In case you haven't noticed there are hundreds of huge KTVs all over the country. These are the most popular options for local guys--not only the thousands of local elite who drive Lexus trucks but also regular guys who ride motorbikes. These are places to drink and have fun, usually in a group. Sometimes a girl with go with a guy and sometime they won't. Sometimes they want money and sometimes they don't. Of course tips for the time in the KTV and beergardens are always expected. A few exclusive KTVs would probably blow your mind. Local guys can easily blow $500 in a night just to drink, have fun and retire to a private room with a girl.

For guys who do want to buy sex immediately there are a few options. One is dirty local brothels but they are becoming less common. There are more on the outskirts than in the middle of the city and they are very cheap. The elite never go to these. Mostly guys who make $100-200 a month. Most foreigners never see them or never notice if they do see them. These sometimes double as $2. 50 massage places but not always. Most Khmer guys go to massage places for actual massages. The idea of paying for a handjob is unheard of.

Another option is the fish bowl type of massage. These are usually hidden in hotels. There are a half dozen in Phnom Penh. Guys walk in, point out a girl and go to a room. The rates are equal to or higher than the bars foreigners go to. Many guys that go to these places are sitting on huge amounts of money and aren't cheap. Those Lexus you see everywhere were purchased with cash.

Cambodians don't go out alone very often. It's almost never seen. Guys or girls. They like a warm open party atmosphere with singing and dancing. Even when guys go to a fish bowl type sex massage they often come in a group.

Foreigners are different. They go out alone, slide up to a bar and hunch over a beer. That's why the bars sprung up (during UNITAC, for foreign soldiers and officials). That's why they keep growing too. They almost never have local customers. These are places guys go to drink, play games and have fun. A few are basically brothels doubled as bars but its becoming less common. More common are places with nice girls who want to meet foreigners and have fun. Some go out with customers sometimes. Some never go out. These aren't working girl houses. A lot of girls are looking for a husband or boyfriend at least part time. This started with UNITAC too. Guys on the ground started giving them money to stay with them for months or even years. A "local rent a wife. " This practice still abounds for many guys on business for extended periods.

Foreigners who like the party atmosphere go to clubs like Pontoon and try to find a freelancer.

Foreigners who want to buy sex immediately can go to the few bars where every woman wants nothing more than a bar fine. Or they can go to the fish bowl type places mentioned where they will pay 30-60 for a short session. Or they will go to the bar at Nagaworld Casino where they will pay even more. Or they can go to a local brothel if they want to risk it. Or they can go to a guest house and ask one of the guys out front to call a girl up for them. That usually costs 10-30 dollars.

Lots of guys are happy to spend an extra dollar on a drink to have a nice young lady to sit with them. That's what the bars are organized around for the most part. The girls aren't looking to fuck multiple guys a day and make big money. If they were they would work in a fish bowl.

In witch hotel do you stay in PP Wendella?

Dara Reang Sey is a couple blocks from the river, low rates, acceptable rooms. Nothing great, just good location plus cheap rates for the area. Street 118 at corner of street 13 if I remember correctly. It has an adequate restaurant on the entire ground floor.

I've stayed at other places too. One diagonal from National Museum is good, though not as close to St 130. That one better to get to the restaurants on the river. Called Orchid or something like this. I never liked staying over by Walkabout / Pontoon because eating options were not good over there, but that may have changed in recent years since I was there last.

These Phnom Penh bar girls have freedom to choose customers. They do reject customers for different reasons. This story sounds like the the girl making excuse not to go out with particular customer. I also have been rejected before in 130,136ST bars and also discos. One time I guess my offer was too low, I was not willing to pay more than 50, but obviously the lady thinks she can sell easily 80, and tried to push her friend to me. Another time I bought several lady drinks and about to take out a lady even paid her bar fine, then she suddenly said sorry she could not go because her period just came, so I took another girl instead, later found out that girl was waiting for her Korean big spender so made up the story to refuse me.

When get refused by working girl, just move on to next target, it's all only a business transaction. I think the only places you won't get refused is these fish bowl joints that target tourists.
