Gents, especially those with extensive local knowledge:

What's the best way to get from Siem Reap to PP? Bus? Train? Plane? And how much money / time would it cost?

Also, reading the ISG, seems like US dollars is used extensively in Cambodia. So for a foreigner coming into Cambodia on holidays, is it best to carry a heap of US dollar in small bills? Or are the local shops happy to give you change in US dollars too? I won't do anything silly like using a $100 bill to pay for a Coke and then expect to get change from the street vendor, but do they give you US dollars in change in most places?

There's also a boat option. The road is rough. I took a cab with a bud and it was ok. He bussed it on the way back. There is a lot of construction going on near PP so it get hairy. The bus has wifi.

The problem if it has anything to do with virgins was that there were none to be found, because I just got back from Thailand, BKK.

no train and 'plane expensive. go by bus from centre of town. any hotel will help you get a ticket the day before. journey time, inc, [CodeWord134] stop, five. seven hours, cost about us$10.

bring us$50s and $100s for hotel bills and a pile of small s1 and $5. depending where you are you will get change in us$ and local currency mixed most of the time.

I am australian goober and I do know about moto gangs. Most are very successful business people indeed, drugs, prostitution, extortion and every other crime are their specialties. They are now established in Asia and it is a worry. The bar opposite walkabout and I think the one in snooky are run by a gang who were in the news in Pattaya a couple of years ago.

It involved abduction and torture of one of their own members who transgressed. Google it.

Why these guys who have their own bar want to drink in the walkabout who knows, but they make me feel uneasy wearing their patches. Are these guys so insecure that they need a tatty uniform?

I think they probably go to drink over the road because the girls don't frequent the club house. I love motorbikes as well but I don't feel the need to hang out with other blokes because of it.

Good news for you Phil last I heard their Charters in Pattaya and Phnom Penh were taken away, not sure about why or if Phnom Penh, but in Pattaya most of them are in jail.

When your a member of a MC you shouldn't shag the President's O'lady. The guy was a member too, but most clubs' by-laws say to not touch members O'ladies, anyway long story short they almost beat the guy to death.

The club's from Germany anyway. They're not a big club too. Sorry couldn't be bothered to Google it. So I don't know all the facts, but the crimes you talked about was that in reference to the police or the MC? You talk about those crimes in SEA and I think of the police, army or the government right away, not a MC.

Could be why MC are having such a hard time getting a strong foot hold here, difficult to compete in the same industries that the governments are running.

So any way Phil I don't think you have anything to fear from any Motorcycle Clubs, you might actually enjoy your self going to one of their parties or open houses; that's a night where they open the clubhouse to the public.

That's not one of the mainstream hostess bars. In fact it's a guesthouse with a few girls (who may actually be freelancers, I'll go and check). So it may not have a strong manager who keeps the girls in line. You could try Oasis or 69 bars in St 136, or Rose bar and Zanzibar in Street 104, or Golden Vine and Zapata bars in Street 108. Or Island bar in Street 118 just opposite the Kompong Oz place.

And yes she was playing you as a sucker. I've never been asked for more money on LT for more boom boom. Quite often in the better bars the girls just say 'up to you' when you ask how much. Then I usually give them $30 for an ok performance, $40 for a nice time, and very occasionally $50 if she was really good and also stayed till midday or even afternoon.

Yes the mobile calls can be a hassle. Sometimes it's just their buddy calling them to make sure they are ok. But again, the better girls will switch off their phones and give you their full attention.

YES! I 2nd the suggestion to try Bar 69 or Oasis on St 136 : both have a decent selection of VERY co-operative wl's : I took the same 2-fer for 3 consecutive nites for dinner, drinks& then boom-boom & got as many shots as I could handle !!

I'm kinda young looking for my 45 age but was she playing me for a young sucker?

No that's not normal. Usually the minimum is two shots, one at night and one in the morning. But all the girls I've taken LT have happily boom-boomed as many times as I wanted. Sometimes twice in the evening, one around 2am and one in the morning. Some stay till midday and so you can get two in the morning.

Most of the girls accept that LT means they are with you all night and so you can boom boom as much as you like.

If you are in any doubt, ask them in a friendly fashion before you take them.

It partly depends on how much time you've put into getting to know them. If you've bought them two or three drinks and have shown them you're a nice guy, they are more likely to give you more. If you've gone into the bar, bought them one drink and then said 'let's go' they may be less generous.

But all the girls are different. Often it's luck of the draw. Which bar did your girl come from? Some bars have a poor attitude to customers, some are much better. But often you get a 'feel' for the girl as you chat to her, and can tell if she's going to be good or not. Or ask the cashier (buy her a drink?) which girls 'boom boom good'.

Yeah Rose is nice. There is / was another nice lady working there too. Decor little spartan but I guess we don't expect Philippe Starck in such places. The little restaurant over the road from Gladiator had a fabulous breakfast for the princely sum of US$ 4. 50 with great wifi.

Most girls figure Cambodiana hotel is way way way out of the way.

I spent a couple of nights here, and must say, had a grand old time! After a morning of ak47s and rpgs, then a depressing afternoon at those killing fields, I lasted 10 minutes, then went out and drunk alot of beer and played chess, which convinietly they had change the rules, with the tuktuk drivers while waiting for my buddy. Needless to say, I neded some ladys that evening, Phnom Penh has some really nice girls, our tuktuk man dropped us just off that road where the river is, told him to clear out, went to one pub, got a lovely little minx for short time, cost me 20, then 8 for a ST room, dropped them off at their pub, then on to the next, ended up at a pub called 'gladiator" found the most delicous girl!
