WTF with the prices here? I thought Cambodia was supposed to be a budget location. First time in the city last night, tried 5 bars. 1 on 51, 4 on River Front. Continually quoted $50 for LT, even when I inquired late into the night, and all said they'd leave 7-10 am.

$50 is about 1500 baht. I can literally get hundreds and hundreds of girls from beer bars in Pattaya for 1000-1300 baht including barfine. Clearly Pattaya is a more expensive place than Phnom Penh in a general sense. And most of the girls I saw here were devoid of customers. So what exactly is going on?

Yes things are changing there. You are better off staying away from that Rose bar in particular. I don't think I will ever go there again even though there are some really busty hot girls there. Reason? $50 USD for basically one hour and refusal to do LT. REALLY bad attitudes which I was MORE than happy to find out there before I paid any money for the "privilege." With so many bars in that area I think they will eventually go under.

In Jan I posted about bad attitudes at a club there called Pontoon. This was the management and workers there. Not the girls. When I get back there this year some time I will be spending my time between the good and fun bars I visited before and HOD / Walkabout for FLs. No way Ill be wasting my money at the rip off places. As with most hostess bars, the best time to go for the biggest selection of girls and when they are most wide-awake, is from about 7. 30pm. But if you want a more fun atmosphere, still with loads of girls, go to the bars from 10. 30pm onwards.

Rose bar has 25+ girls, Golden Vine and Zapata about 22 each, so I'm sure you'll find someone that you want to take back to your hotel! Expect to pay $30-40 for all night from these bars, plus the $7-10 barfine.

Thinking of making my first trip to Cambodia. What I want to know is whether or not it'll be easy changing Thai Baht into the local currency. I don't want to do an ATM withdraw in Cambodia, and all I have on me now here in Pattaya is Baht. Already got stuck with a shitload of Philippine pesos that no one will exchange here, don't want to get fucked again. Thanks!

You will get a better exchange rate in PP than in Thailand for your baht. On street 136 near the Central Market (just before all the pharmacies) there are money changers. Try a couple of them to compare, the spread is actually quite good.

The Golden Vine bar on Street 108 next to Le Marmite restaurant, just west of Norodom street.

This has about 22 mainly Vietnamese girls, of which about 18 will go with customers. They are very friendly and the Vietnamese lady boss is also very friendly.

Zapata bar next to it is also good for great girls, but they are all Khmers not Vietnamese.

Can also vouch for the Golden Vine. Have been visiting this place every time I have been in PP over the past 5 years, and probably my favourite. Only downside is that a lot of the gals don't speak English, but really not such a big problem.

Don't forget the Airport Dep tax about 28 USD as I remember can be paid in USD, baht or Riel alway carry ectra photo with me whem I travel.

Times have changed. No more mamasans at Martinis. I met alot of mamasans and the action / market has shifted as more money is to be made at the KTV's and Naga with the new crop of rich asians investing here. Also the mamasans have shifted to attractive ones now.

Those old French guys hanging out in Martini must have been the very few Legion Etrangere survivors of WWII. It's funny seeing these old guys hanging out drinking and moving around real slow at *****houses.

My time at Martini bar was a slow, quiet and fading experience, just like in old time French Indochina. I could imagine myself hanging out in that veranda billowing with sweet scents of plumeria blooms, downing a few rounds of cognacs and pumping a few rounds of opium with Catherine DeNeuves.

I tried reading back but I can't find my answer, so would appreciate if anyone could enlighten me with some mongering knowledge. I like to check if there are any hostess bar with a good population of Vietnamese talent for LT take out? I understand there are KTVs with Viet chicks but I not really a fan of KTVs due to the price and discos due to the loud music.

Your going to need $ to pay for your Cambodian visa unless your carrying a passport from an ASEAN member country. And extra cash if you don't bring a photo of yourself. I paid the to photo "fee"in baht last time I forgot a photo but don't remember how much it was.

I'd go for the e-visa. you can upload the photo. Also saves a page in the passport.
