I live in PNH and I confirm that you are assigned a hotel for a 14 days quarantine. Don't count on having a hotel on street 136 and sneak out to the bars.

Vaccine is coming. 2nd half of 2021 at the latest visa on arrival will be available for those with proof of vaccination from credible countries. Such says my intel. Situation for the girls who frequented the bars is dire. Everbody has enough to eat, but the easy tickling exciting slow motion night life has gone, and so has the income. Remittals to family in province dries up. Everybody worse off. Yet many to few are using the time productively to collect the trash, remodel, learn English etc. Cambodia is in a funk.

I agree wholeheartedly. Siem Reap is a construction zone now and that was direly needed. Folks are anticipating a reopening, tightening belts and doing what they can. But it isn't a lot of fun.

I sure as hell hope your intel is right. It would work out well for me as I am so far down the priority list in my country there is little chance I can get a jab before that.

"Intel" and unnamed sources never mean much to me. That said, as I'll be 79 this summer, this might be one of the few advantages I have over those lower down on the totem pole. (The others might be disposable income and experience.) So it could be that I'll be giving jabs to the damsels before you. Don't fret, we've all experienced "sloppy seconds". LOL.

OK this differs from what I read on World Nomad, last updated on Dec. 24. They say you self isolate at their own accommodation if you test negative. "Anyone who tests positive upon arrival will be quarantined for 14 days at designated facilities. Travelers who test negative must self-isolate at their own accommodation. ".

Has anyone returned to PP via PHN since the new Immigration rules were put in place? My main questions surround self isolation and the 2 k USD deposit.

I understand that if you test negative you go in to self isolation. If I stayed in a hotel on Street 136 would they know if I snuck out of my room for food or to a bar across the street for 5 minutes to grab a girl or have one of my girls come to my room? How am I being tracked in self isolation?

Anyone hear of any stories where guys have had issues recovering their 2 k when they leave Cambodia?

Many members of the group have shared their experience in navigating this clusterfuck.

I have come to the conclusion this is nothing more than a political ploy to assert more control over the masses. I have known many people who have caught "it" and the only one who died was on death's door step already. "It" is spreading around my area and everyone I have spoken to said it is like a bad cold. All the hype and fear to me is just a new boogie man. Bioterrorism is what I would call it. Use a disease to hold the world hostage, take away freedoms and assert control. I think our saving grace will be greed.

Spot on. BTW, increase in the death toll in the US this year (which some people say is caused by "it") is about the same as the increase in suicides and ODs.

Suicide rate seems to have tripled this year. ODs have doubled.

As this has played out we have seen mass hysteria and information that flies in the face of all known medical history. I have come to the conclusion this is nothing more than a political ploy to assert more control over the masses. Lots of speculation circulating with no firm answers. My money says Cambo and Thailand will be open within the year to tourists including visa on arrival. That is, assuming that the vaccine is widely available and arriving passengers can show proof of vaccination. I've read news reports of having passports issued with confirmation of vaccination included and also documents being issued which would be accepted by the airlines (and the appropriate immigration authorities involved). Lots and lots of administrative protocols will need to be agreed upon by the governments and air carriers. But there is so much money at stake it should be doable in time for a trip sometime in 2021.

I read that IATA the governing body for airlines and manufacturers is working on the protocols for vaccination proof. I work in the aviation industry so I am confident they will work out a process that is fairly full proof. They were established to standardize the airline industry globally. If no one opens up by December I fully plan on lawyering up and getting my money back. I went to Brazil in October and am returning for New Years. While Rio is a lot of fun nothing will beat a room full of Asian spinners, for me anyway.

My itinerary will be Cebu for two weeks to visit friends and family of SO and then 10 days solo in PP or where ever I can get into.

Was supposed to go to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam for a month this spring but Thailand shut down the day I was supposed to arrive. I am planning to go the end of September 2021. My flight voucher expires Dec. 2021. Any thoughts of the possibility of this happening would be appreciated. My itinerary will be Cebu for two weeks to visit friends and family of SO and then 10 days solo in PP or where ever I can get into.
