I'd try to get her down a bit, which I think I'd be able to. $40 seems fair, I might go up to $50. Girls are usually warmer and more amenable the 2nd time around if the experience was good, and this one was.

I'm actually surprised that these hard rules about prices has remained intact this long - that whether you choose some 35 yr old veteran or an 18 yr old beauty queen, that the expected price is going to be $20-25 overnight regardless.

As for Walkabout, it's not my cup of tea. What people have to remember is that all us posters here are of different ages, looks and tastes. Some people are perfectly happy with Walkabout, or Sharky or Martini or whatever, while others won't be able to find what they like there. So a place that to one guy looks like it's packed full of beautiful women, to another guy looks like its a bunch of worn out hags, and not an acceptable one in the bunch. Some guys aren't too hung up on looks and prefer better performance, others are the opposite. Some like to bed as many different girls as possible, others want to just find the one right one and stick with her.

Me, my preference is for Martini cuz I like being able to be on my own as long as I want, and also be able to peruse a big selection. In lots of other places, you walk in the door and immediately are the one selected (Cyrcee is good example, or the 104 St bars) with the girls jumping in right next to you before you even order your drink. The place was rocking ok but still not as it used to be. I quickly committed to a sweet Viet girl, skinny but with a really sweet face. She undresses and hit the shower and after splashing water everywhere returns towel wrapped and I did my ceremony too before returning to unwrap her. Its not so simple to put a negative tag in walkabout, its open 24 hours, many freelancers, yes some look very bad, but i found one or two cuties, as many places its hit and miss, but the fact its an open space and you can simply look from the street who is inside, makes it an interesting option, specially for those staying in Flamingo.

I've been going by walkabout for many years, seems that the quality and quantity of girls is been going down, despite the excelent location.

I've never paid more than $25 in Phnom Penh before. I've been tempted by ones at the discos sometimes who wanted $50, but didn't bite. I'd say with this one, she was pretty certain she wasn't going home alone, and no reason why she shouldn't try to bargain top dollar if she could. I think she kept saying No to other guys knowing she'd either get her price eventually, or else would eventually come down, say, at 1am. Good for her. It was the best experience I had in PP or BKK on that whole trip, so I definitely don't feel like I got ripped off.

I think the best way to deal with this is, as soon as you broach the subject of going to your room say, 'Okay, but I never pay more than $20 LT.' Don't even give her chance to name her price, and be prepared to walk if she balks at this. A few weeks later I returned to Phnom Penh. Early in the evening, I went to Street 63 to see what was up there. On my first visit, as I walked around there I was waved away by all the guys in front of the shops, saying No! No! This time the first shop did that but the next 2 did not. There is one shop on the other side of the street (west side) that has more girls, and in there I finally chose one and told the mama. Now anyone who's read this thread much knows that rip-offs are standard in these places, the old grab-pants-off-the-hook trick, it's automatic. So I had just the money I needed with me. Now the mama tells me Pay Now. When I start to suggest pay half now and half after, she just points to the door for me to get out. I mean, if I paid first, I don't see how I'm going to get satisfactory service in a place like this one. Ah well. If anyone has succeeded in having a good experience in one of these places, I'd be curious to hear how. If they really insist on payment up front, I guess you try to make it clear to the girl that you'll give her a nice tip for good service, that might work.

I visited a bunch of the bars in the 104 area and girls there don't seem like anything special. I prefer venues that give you more selection and the ability to be off on your own at a distance before choosing.

Back at Martini again, I went in hoping to run into the girl I'd gone with before, but she wasn't there this night. I kept waiting and waiting, keeping an eye out for a decent replacement from the ones who were there. She never did end up coming, and the replacements weren't measuring up (as long as I could picture my other girl in my mind, ugh). I left there when it was pretty full to check out other things around 11.30, returned about 12.45 again and the place was emptying out already, less than half as many people as earlier. When I walked around I saw that all the decent girls I'd seen earlier were taken already.

Unless I was there on a strange night, it seems as if you better catch a girl near midnight at Martini or they'll go quick after that.

Later I went to Heart of Darkness and spotted some of the girls who'd been at Martini before were now there. The one girl I made eyes at seemed very not into it -- I guess she had her eye on bigger fish now at HOD, not one of those horrible Martini type guys.

Finally, I also made stops at 2 discos: Manhattan/Holiday disco on the north side of town. Active, but it's SO dark you can't see anyone's faces there, so not an ideal pickup place. At the Casa disco, not far from there, it was the same (dark) only totally empty. I didn't feel like I needed to see more discos after these.
