Posts: 59[QUOTE=Billpsu]By the way, I will be visiting Cambodia in a few months, and advice on a hotel in PP central to most of mongering opportunities.
Central to mongering - Walkabout hotel is pretty central, well actually ground zero almost. However, it can be a bit busy and noisy. Some rooms were recently refurbished including some with spa.
Just across the road you will find Flamingo's. A much better choise in my opinion. It gets mixed reviews, management sometimes leave a bit to be desired. The advantages is close to WA, quiet, nice roof top resturant, little bar with pool table in lobby makes it a good place for a night cap before retireing with you girl for the night.
From either of these there are a few hostess bars and Walkabout, Heart of Darkness Disco as well as 63rd street within walking distance.
Any of the riverside hotels towards the 102st end will have you centrally placed as well. I have never stayed at DV8 but I have heard good and bad about it.
In essense you are never really far from the action in PP. I often stay at one of the hotels on Monivong road. No real action directly there, but if you hire a little motorcycle (or just use the hotel motodrivers) you are never more than 5 minutes away from the action.
New York Hotel has its own fish bowl on the top floor. A slightly more expensive proposition but nice for a change. The rooms a decent but a bit more expensive than the previous options.
Hotel Big Luck and Asia Hotel are also decent options.
So, for less than $40 per night you will get a decent bed with air con. Rooms are available for less (starting at $5 to $200 or more) depending on your style and budget.
Have a great trip.

Posts: 836I post regularly (when I visit) on the Filipina/Thai boards.
I actually enjoy the "interview" portion of mongering. It can be fun and stimulating, i.e., listening to the gal review her skills, accomplishments, and performance promises. It can also better position you for later disagreeements. You would be surprised how some of them wilt when you restate their own promises. Also, the increased conversation gives you more of a feel as to whether you should "have at it" at all.
By the way, I will be visiting Cambodia in a few months, and advice on a hotel in PP central to most of mongering opportunities.
Thanks.

Posts: 922Shanghai Bar = waste of time
I agree that Shanghai Bar is a waste of time. I went in and sat down. None of the girls bothered to approach me. And no I'm not some hideous old man - I was the youngest customer in the bar. At least in the other "friendly hostesses" bars it's easy to pick a girl you want to "chat up". Shanghai seems to be popular with do-gooder English teacher and charity worker types rather than mongers. If I want to spend my time chatting up Khmer girls there are millions of them outside the "friendly hostesses" bars who are much better company. If I want P4P I'll go somewhere without all the bullshit you get in this bar.

I stayed in the Himawari Hotel-Apartments for three nights in January and enjoyed it very much. It's definitely upscale and overlooks the river. My spaceous studio included a small kitchen, tv., internet at no extra charge, and an outstanding breakfast each day. Two monogramed cotton bathrobes in the closet were appreciated by the ladies. Not sure if I'd want to have breakfast there with my overnight guest however. They attract businessmen and familys. They are very guest friendly..don't ask for any id....no problem. They may ask which room you're registered in when you go up the elevator...which is in a fairly quiet and accessible part of the lobby. They always called the room to make sure everything was fine before letting the girl leave. Very courteous. In room safe, outdoor swimming pool, indoor recreation room. You can easily walk to the Palace grounds from there. Cost was about $128/day, but if that doesn't bother you, go for it. See their web site for pics and details. I would stay there again. Had been booked into the Bougainviller, but cancelled that after reading about the loud ongoing construction noise next door and the owner's lack of friendliness.

Yeah the Shanghai bar is one of the worst. I was there a little over a year ago. It has a nice atmosphere, and the girls are pretty, but I never had any luck at taking them out. I even spent my last night chatting one up, buying her drinks, etc. and when I asked her to come back to the room with me, her response was "I never go with customer."
Stay away.

Hi there,
We've stayed at the Intercontinental very good but quite expensive. A good alternative is the Sunway Hotel very clean and spacious rooms, some with balcony, internet available safe in room and very girl friendly, when we took a girl back which was most nights they didn't ask for any id but when the girl was leaving they would ring to make sure everything was ok before she could leave.
Have also stayed at Phnom Penh Hhotel which was ok again very girl friendly but feel the position of the Sunway is better.

Posts: 59Only had bad experiences with SH girls. Would not worry about it again. Happened more than once that the girl did a runner even before the hotel. They seems to be looking primarialy for boyfriends.
