Very quiet here at the moment,mid september must be the slowest time of year for barang.
The word for vietnamese is yuon,it is derogatory but it is the word that the khmer use-srey youn=vietnamese woman or women.
Sophies is open but the word around town is that sophies,mikado and le cyrcee have had to introduce a BYOB policy.
There is a police crackdown because of NGO pressure and beds have had to be removed from premises,hence bring your own bed.
Hopefully our favourite couch will survive.

Usually what I do for money is go to a full service ANZ bank during business hours and use the ATM. Not sure why but there is no user charge to my account. The ATM will pay out in $20 and $50 dollar bills. Then I take my money to a window and ask to have it changed into mostly $10 dollar bills with some $5. Smaller bills seem to be less hassle in the markets and I don't need to always be breaking larger bills into smaller.

Another thing I do is get $10/$20 changed into 1000 R notes for use on the street and for moto rides. The ANZ on the Riverfront around the corner from ST 148 works well for me.

Will be returning to PP in about two weeks and wondering if Sophie Bar is the same ? I read that they closed, then they didn't operate at the bar the same as before. Anyone been there lately?

I'd advise you to buy $$ in Holland. Cash is king, and you'll need lots of small notes such as $1 and 5. You can easily break the big notes at hotels etc or even at most bars.

When I'm in Cambo (twice a year for about 15 yrs) I use several pockets, one for larger notes (50/100), one for mid range (5/10/20) and one for monopoly money (riel/$1). When you go out at nights take max $50 with you unless you plan a night of boozing & partying away from your hotel.

I was thinking that because of the weak position of the dollar in relationship to the euro getting dollars in the netherlands would be the cheapiest way. The cambodian banks have to pay these dollars i will get from their atm by paying them with their own currency. Or will it be cheap because in fact i am taking money from my own account and the Cambodian bank just works like a kind of agency.

In fact I did not specify to look for only Viets, but the place my driver took me to have only Viets.

I think most people there understand if you say Viet girls or Khmer girls.

Don't change Euro to Dollars in Europe. If you get money (US$) via ATM-Card you get a much better exchange rate. Maybe depending on your Bank conditions. Don't even think about bringing cash Euro. You will lose about 10 cents per Euro due to horribly rates.

There's a fair old range of ways of getting money in PP.

Quite a few of the moneychanger types/banks will do cash advances on Visa/Mastercard paid out in $.

Basically treat it as a normal trip overseas and try and have a range of options available to you.

One thing that is unusual in Cambodia generally is that US$ are completely interchangeable with Riel. You even go to the supermarket with dollars or riel or a combination of both and get change back in dollars or riel or a combination of both (at random depending on what is in the till).

All shops, hotels, girls, fruit vendors in the market, taxis. Anyone in the country really, will treat $1 as 4000 riel and vice versa. The only exception to this is more formal places (bank, places with an electronic till that handle 2 currencies) where the exchange rate will be (I think) 3950 to 1.

For all intents and purposes, having a pocket full of Riel is a more voluminous way of having a pocket full of dollars.

To Frits,

Bring US currency or thai baht and carry small bill one dollar us or 20 baht for moto bike , there are a few bank in town will cash euro or traveler check but you will have a hard time .

As I started this trip, I have the intention to try out new venues other than Martini or Sophie which I went last time; so the first night I got the driver took me to one of the lady house with all Vietnamese girls as in my earlier report.

The following night I didn't want to go too far from the hotel thus decided to try Shanghai bar just next to Flamingo. I got some suggestion earlier that girls there are not bad at all so wanna check it out.

Inside the bar there are small and large TV screens showing scoccer match, but since it's dark and I want to see girls clearer so I chose to sit in couches outside. Was escorted by a small and rather fair skin Khmer girl - Heng to the seat.

Ordered my beer - Angkor draft which is reasonably priced at 1.5 USD and started some chat with the girls as there were 2 who came to sit at my table.
One acted as translator as the other almost speak no English except for just a few words.

Small talk and sipping beer to while away time. I asked the girl who can speak English how much does the other one want if I want to take her back to my place. She purposedly say "Me?" and I said "No, the other one" and pointing to the one I am interested. So, she translated and exchanged a few words.

Then the girl asked her friend how to respond to my question in English "Up to you", so I took her words and soon after asked for the bill. Once the bill came and also another girl who speaks English to explain me that there is 5 USD bar fine to take out the girl, but the bar management usually not agree to bar fine giel if the bill is so little as mine (1 beer @ 1.5 USD), they are looking for more spending from customer before taking out thier girl. So, she advised me to take more beer or order ladt drink for the girl.

I thought for a moment and agreed as suggested, later to find out that lady drink (soft drink like cola, etc.) is more expensive than my drink @ 2 USD each.

Anyway, I felt OK with this as the girls did not impse or ask for lady drink even though sitting with me for an hour or so.

Finally we went back to the hotel and hugging and not much word spoken as we have language barrier. This is the girl who welcomed and escorted me to sit when I first got into the bar and the chemistry seems to be matching and lead to finally having her in my room, my sixth sense was not wrong for this; except for the breast which look like reasonable size was by the aide of some stuffing or so.

She showed me her ID card which indicates that she's 27 instead of 25 as she told me at the bar; I asked here about this and she smiled. As the chemisty was right, I think we both enjoyed and it was quite GFE.

Early morning my little brother stood up again so I went for the second session; but this is time it took quote long time (for me) more than 45 minutes of pumping from different angle by both her and me but I could not finish it. My first time ever that got so tired and called it quit without coming.

But we hugged again and I have to prepare myself to fly back, so gave her 100,000 Riels (around 25 USD) and kissed her goodbye.

Overall, my weekend trip to PP was very satisfactory on mongering aspect and I got on plane with my tired body but filled up feeling.

Hopped on Air Asia for a weekend trip to Phnom Penh, stayed at Flamingo Hotel as usual at 20 USD / night.

Spending most of the day wandering around town for work related activities, but couldn't wait for the night to come down for more interesting activities.

Rented car with driver and went for dinner on the other side of Tonle Pasak river wehre there are tens of restaurants lying on both side of the road going out of town to Siemreap. My driver took me to one call "Tata" where they have stage with live band and singer, dancers entertaining the guest.

Food was OK with 3 dishes ordered to be shared by 2 costing almost 20 USD.

Upon heading back to town, requested for a stopover to pick up some night time companion. The driver stopped at a shophouse around 144th or 154th street not far from Flamingo.

There is pink neon light coming out from the house to give you some sort of hint that lady is provided inside. All girls are Vietnamese and they quickly lined up in chairs to let me scrutinize. Asked through the driver for price and was quoted 10 USD ST on the spot including A/C room upstairs and 50 USD LT.

I said there must be some misunderstanding as I never paid that much, finally settled for 30 USD LT but mamasan did not go lower as the night was still young (sometime after 9pm) so there is some opportunity cost in the price. Driver said it's posisble to come down to 20-25 USD if it is later in the night.

My companion of the night was not smiling much but has egg shaped face with hair partly highlighted to be light brown or like blonde. With my limited Vietnamese skill, I only manage to know that her name is Loen, 18 yearsold from Chau Doc. She seemed to be quite happy that I speak some Vietnamese, but that all I can speak and the rest of the night it was mostly action and sign language plus simple words like "Good!", "No Good!"

She happened to be more GF like than I thought; French kissing and that seemed to turn her on. It was good fun that we both enjoyed in various positions; the only drawback was when I asked for BJ and she said NO and YOU, NO GOOD!

I did not want to ruin the good atmosphere thus not pushing to go for BJ but still able to enjoy in other different ways. After the deed is done, she curled herself like a small kitten into my arm and used one of my arm as pillow while having my body wrapped around her. I felt just like lying with my girlfriend and she behaved like needing warmth from a man; it made me feel so good and we just slept like that.

Occasionally changing the pose but still hugging her in some way, sometimes I careless her and she responded to move closer to me. At one point, feeling that my little brother got aroused once again and she noticed that and we started kissing again and go for it.

Another good session and I checked my watch which said it's just before 5 am; I felt good that she did not refused or show any dissatisfaction for an early morning session like that. Probably she had the same feeling and enjoyed it too so that's why.

Sending her off in the morning and soon receive call from hotel clerk as usual

"Sir, your lady go home OK?"

"OK, no problem"

Went back to bed to get some more rest as I know that I have to spare energy for more actions when the night falls. To be reported in Part II to come.

Thanks Saint Jack - those posts have helpful info for visitors to PP. Do you know if the kamagra and zeagra are standardly available without Rx in Cambodia, or is that an under the table deal?

No prescription needed. I saw some of these drugs even at Orange supermarket, including Apcalis (a generic of Cialis). I would stay away from the latter as it may be a fake or has probably lost its activity in storage. Cialis should be stored at temperatures below 26°.

The flamingo only provide transport one way free,from the airport.the standard fee is $7 from the airport with a cab from there and the is the same price as the hotel charges.
Phnom penh now has a fleet of twenty metred,air con cabs.I think that it is a vietnamese company and it should be a big improvement for us here.
