i'm afraid that "that arsehole" has shown his true colours and is indeed an arsehole.his lack of knowledge of the true situation in cambodia is obvious.i have spent quite some time in cambodia and i know that this report on gang [CodeWord123] and abuses by the police,gangsters and the sons of influential people is all true.
that arsehole has always disturbed me by his lack of compassion and feelings for the cambodian people,they are not just there for our gratification but they are in fact human beings.
i have met several men in cambodia who believe that the cambodian people should never be lifted out of poverty and ignorance because that will lessen our opportunites for sexual abuse at bargain basement prices.
call me a bluff old traditionalist but i am firstly a human being and i resent people like that arsehole who have no humanity.

* Sightseeing: Hopefully everyone who goes to Phnom Penh will take the time to see Tuol Sleng and the killing fields. I'the recommend paying the $5 for the guide at the killing fields since there isn't a lot of signage and you'll get more out of it. Think of it as two fewer drinks and supporting a good cause. Some of the other sites were nice to see, but nothing else is a must see.

I've visited PP a dozen times and have never been to S21 or the k-fields.

So it's strange to read here that you are 'hoping' all tourists see both of these 'sights'. I never will.

On a side note, someone reported a few weeks ago how Martini's still has the same run of girls working there with very few fresh faces appearing. This remains true.
Kind of unfortunate as you witness the degeneration of these girls' faces and bodies over time.

If you stay away from Sharkey's long enough, it can be fun to go back there and see who is new. I occassionally get lucky and find a young cutie.
Some of the girls are great pool players but as always, most of them said goodbye to their youth many years ago.

not true, that asshole. if that [CodeWord123] report was written by 'feminists' (and by that, i assume you mean the anti-sex work radical feminists), then it would not use the words 'sex worker' or sex work' - they use the term 'prostituted women'. they also would not subscribe to a 'rights based' approach - feminazis believe the only rights sex workers have is the 'right' to be forcibly removed from the sex industry and rehabilitated.

this report was written by ngos, including a prostitutes collective. (i also know one of the reviewers listed, personally). if they were paid any money for it, it would have been a nominal amount in the form of a grant. and usaid is not a 'feminist charitable organisation' - it is a united states government department that distributes us aid funding. it's also the american president's master plan to force countries around the world to criminalise and/or abolish prostitution (hence the 'we don't support prostitution' disclaimer at the start of a report written, in part, by prostitutes). but that's a whole other rant.

the chances of these people getting any money - donations or otherwise - are slim to none. people do not give money to groups who want to help hookers work in the industry safely. usaid sure as hell won't - it's against us policy. people will only donate money to organisations who want to 'rescue' sex workers and 'retrain' them to be 'useful' members of society. they are the groups that women support in droves, because they think they're doing a good thing, saving the poor prostitutes from exploitation. (the other article mentioned below is a perfect example of feminazi propaganda with a primary aim of soliciting donations).

the people who wrote the [CodeWord123] report, however, have no reason to lie or embellish. they just want the story out there in the open, in the hope that someone will take it seriously and eventually, policy will change.

If you have been shocked then that article has served it's purpose well. But do you always believe everything you read and hear?

1./Do you believe that the Twin Towers were blown up by "terrorists"?

2./ Do you believe that AIDS is actually an "illness"?

Did you notice the name of the author? It is some "Carol" , - a woman. Did you notice who it was commissioned for? For USAID, a well known feminist "charitable" (charitable??) organisation. This organisation is run by people who in fact derive their income from the "charitable work" they do. The greater the shock, the greater the donations they receive (mostly from women). Especially if the story mentions "sex, abuse, evil men, etc".

These are the same people riding around Phnom Penh in Landcruisers and Lexus 4WD trucks. They receive 5 figure salaries, in dollars. Have a look at St. 240 and around in PP.

Please, be realistic. Couldn't we write a report to prove anything we want to prove? Even the total opposite as they did? Of course it could be done. If someone would pay me as much as they did get paid for it, I promise I will make a report just as long, just as convincing and full of "facts" that I gather - stating the exact opposite of it all.

Please be men and don't act like children. If you believe all that crap than legally you shouldn't be able to view this, because it's only for over 18's.

I stayed 4 days in Phnom Penh. One good thing is the cheap and good street restaurants. Second good thing is you can be there quick by airplane.

For the rest Phnom Penh was nothing for me. Hard to find nice hookers. Most are Vietnamese who think they are better then Cambodian hookers (we do blowjob Cambodian not, we have whiter skin) and a cute asks 40$ long time.

Cambodian hookers go to sleep at 10 PM. Vietnamese at 4 am! A lot of Phnom Penh hookers go work out of the city so the family does not know what they do. So best follow these nice friendly ladies to Sihanoukville (where also the temperature is much better, hotels much cheaper and finaly a lot of fierndly mamasan hookers ask only 15$).

Maybe if you are younger (max 37) and can speak local language (Khmer) then you can find a local jewel.

Along the river swetting you pay 2$ for a beer, siting at the beach in Sihanoukville you have a pint of beer for 50 dollarcents in a nice breaze.

in response to a pm about my post, some clarification:

it was a reaction to the description of the use of condoms specifically designed to inflict vaginal damage on the victim. see page 20 for descript of "tiger fur" condoms coated with sand.

in the worst case, the resulting injuries can lead to serious medical complications due to infections not to mention the accompanying pain and suffering. in the not so worse case, such an attack can prevent the sw victim from working. medical complications can result in death. not working can result in death.

the article describes a culture of [CodeWord123] and abuse of sws, which i expected to be disturbing enough. but i guess that i was taken aback by the crossing of the line from [CodeWord123] to attempted murder.

i can personalize this when i think about the contact that i have with sws. and then i think about the contact and interaction i have with the police, pimps, brothel owners, and gangsters who may be the perpetrators.

it is not news to say that the world can be a rough place. but it is still sometimes difficult for me to absorb information like this and to reconcile the depravity of it especially with my proximity to it. but i guess my problems are not so dire.

it is also not my intention to create a thread for "humans doing bad things". i won’t shy away but i won’t wallow in it.

Ed, the owner of HOOTERS: Phnom Penh, shut the place down earlier this year; too many problems getting and keeping good staff. He thought about re-opening it under a different format but ended up selling it and returning to the USA for an indefinite stay.
There was never any connection with the real HOOTERS chain.
