Where on the Riverside? I have seen a few freelancers but all looked like drug addicts. Is there a specific time? I don't think I have checked out Riverside after 8 pm or so.

LOL. Riverside freelancers are often poor country bumpkins so they ain't ever going to win beauty contests. In fact some live on the two small boats that seem permanently moored there (I haven't been here for 2 years BTW). Some of these girls are factory workers here to make easy money, others are down on their luck, and some are probably homeless. Afternoon works. I have seen a few hotties early evening but they were the exception. I wouldn't bother after dark as some of these girls have light fingers and others and packing mear if you get my drift. There used to be so SYTs around the local what, walking around looking for customers. Personally I prefer the clubs or secret bar for quick take away (if it still exists). Wechat probably works but be watchful for lady boys.

Well you guys must be very unlucky! I have stayed here three times, always with a high floor room, at the back of the hotel.

I think its a great place to stay! And never spotted ants or any bugs! But I never leave out anything that may attract them.

Very girl friendly, great location, just could do with a pool! Well I will be there again next week-end. Looking forward.

My guess it was due to me being on the 1st floor. They really didn't bother me as much as the fridge not working- having cold water to come back to is a great feeling. Have a great time in PP!

I'm back in PP for a visit. Prices are up from 5 years ago, stands to reason. I haven't found a particular place to hang out. I got a steady a few days ago, so now relaxation time. I have been going to Sharky's just because it's quiet and comfortable.

Yeah in my experience Angry Bird has been a dud, but then I have read other people on here rating it highly, so it all goes back to my original point about the fickle and ever changing nature of these bars.

I know you know the scene well, I'm a twice a year visitor with above average Khmer language skills so things generally turn out fun, just this girl last night was PAINFUL!!

Perhaps should've just stuck to Intoxica next door.

Cyrcee in its new location definately on the menu at some point. Still in my opinion the best bang for buck, know what you are getting bar in Phnom Penh. Girls are there to fuck and they are mostly quiet skilled at what they do!!

At least one of the guys posting about Angry Birds here in the past was the owner of the bar. So no surprise there.

Two guys own most of the bars on that block. And they all suck.

That bar sucks. I would say avoid that street completely. Go to Phnom Penh Hillton, Top Ten, Rose Bar, Cyrcee.

Currently staying at Adore Hotel which is right on corner of Riverside and 136-to try and put it nicely, the place is an absolute shithole, and yes whilst I am staying in a cheap $25 buck room, still with that in mind, I wouldn't recommend this place to a freshly released Indonesian prisoner.

Will give a more detailed report on trip in a couple of weeks when done BUT the bar scene is still very fickle and your experience and enjoyment within the same bar can change dramatically from one day to the next, so I'd strongly question the logic of going to a certain bar because someone posted a good review about that bar here four weeks ago?? Hey it might be awesome, but conversely it might also be very dull! It's definately a lottery.

I may sound somewhat negative, and you can put that down to the awfully depressing drink I just had at Angry Birds bar, the sad sack bar girl was so flat and off putting about her wonderful Belgium sponsor who she doesn't trust and blah blah blah. Felt like pulling teeth to even get her to half smile, and my Khmer is pretty reasonable!

Oh well, scratch it off the list, or who knows, tomorrow same bar, same time could be awesome?

Anyways, more detailed report of adventures to come upon conclusion of trip.

Stayed at the Point Boutique Hotel on 130St. For a week in early January- this hotel is located very close to riverside (believe only 1 or 2 buildings stand between a river view and the hotel). The hotel was so-so; stayed in room 101 and it had a balcony. The Good: room was clean, shower worked great and it was a large room. Girl friendly, they took the ladies ID upon arrival and called after departure. The rooftop bar was beautiful, as you could see the whole skyline. Price was between $32-34 a night. Bad: About a half-inch gap between the balcony door and the ground, this led to noise coming in as well as ants. The noise is not bad, could fall asleep very easily. Had to watch where I left drinks, could not leave them out on the counter opened due to ants. Also, the fridge did not work (most negative thing about the hotel).

Overall rating 3/5. Going to try the Lux next time!

Thanks for this. I was going go try this hotel next time I was in PP, but I think I will pass on it. I usually stay at Lux, but the girls all know where I stay and some have started stalking me there. Will be fun.

As promised, here my report from my recent PP trip:

I spent only 4 days in PP, stayed at the Lux Riverside on 136 Street, which was quite pleasant. As I booked right before the trip the room I wanted was taken, so I chose the King Suite room. It was very spacious but extremely dark, no ceiling lights. I asked to switch but all they had was the VIP suite but I had to pay 30 dollars extra per night. As I was not on an extreme budget constraint I obliged (after verifying that the VIP suite on Agoda indeed costs more than 30 bucks extra). It was an awesome suite, one large bed room and a humongous living room and kitchen. It included balcony facing the bars right opposite side of the street. As the VIP suite is on the 2nd floor I had a great view of the action from the balcony..

I think your a lucky man, and I would do the same! Good luck to you.
