Pretty much the same thing happened to me when I sent messages to Soulman's Blackberry (with an account in the US). English messages were going through fine, both ways. But when I sent him messages in Chinese (directions he can show the taxi drivers), he never received them.

I am back to the States now, but I don't want to lose the contacts with girls that I met in my last trip to china. I bought an iPhone through AT&T. I set languge to Chinese, and able to send a text message in chinese to the girls in china. But when the girls reply my message in chinese, I can't get it, I mean I receive nothing! But if they reply my message in English, I can get it.

Anyone has experience on this issue? Thanks in advance!

Direct PRC-Taiwan Links started this week and it spells trouble for us on a couple fronts:

1. Direct bus transport between points in Guangdong (SZ, DGG etc) from Hong Kong, including the airport will see a drastic drop off in patronage; which in turn means that lots of these direct bus routes are gonna be cut. Trouble for us Hong Kongers as well as foreigners coming via HKG.
2. More Taiwanese will nowadays go home more often = less business for the various establishments around China. Will this mean more for us or will it jus result in places closing down?
3. More Taiwanese Wives are gonna commute to the PRC - same question as 2
4. More Taiwanese who didn't use to monger in PRC is nowadays gonna be able to take week-end sex trips to China. OHMIGAWD!!
5. More of our lovely young ladies are gonna end up doing their thing in Taiwan.

Someone told me an English teacher at an University in Shanghai was sleeping with his students a few years ago. I don’t know the entire store but I think word got around and because he was bragging about it on the internet. He was keeping a log of his conquests. Many professors and people were trying to find the guy to kick him out of China.

For freebies and university students, the possibilities are very high especially if you are at least average looking and Caucasian. The negative side, you will surely lose your job if caught sleeping with your students. If you are on an one year teaching contract, most schools with pay for your plane ticket. Well forget about the ticket going home. For freebies outside of work, in my opinion should NOT be an issue with the school but be very discreet.

Do a search, this subject teacher and student relationship has been discussed many times before. Just last week someone asked the same question.

Thank you everyone for the replies. It is interesting to hear all of your perspectives. I have wanted to travel to china just for an adventure, but I have been talking to a girl online and she seems worth meeting, for one she doesn't care about money or getting a greencard.

Everyone of those girls will tell you that all they are looking for is true love. They do not want money nor care about greencard.

The reality of it is that, they do care about money and greencard. She tell her that you are a real nice guy that is currently unemploy, not a red cent in the bank account and hope that one day you will be the next bill gates. I'm sure that you will never hear from them again.

No girl is her right mind will tell you that she wants to marry a rich guy and want to get the heck out of China. You may think she cares a lot about you after chatting with you a few times. But you need to get real, she is probably sending the email you got to ten other guys hoping to bring in a big fish.

Bottom line. Get real and don't get sucker in. read between the line. Just remember, once you marry them, things begin to change. After a few years they become totally westernize. You will be back to china and seeking fun that is no longer available at home.

In a western environment, the scenario is much different from China. First of all, the society is more tolerant, especially in the metropolitan areas of western countries. In China, a Chinese girl with a foreigner may be looked down upon, especially by middle aged men.

You are probably correct in all this, but I know for a fact that in a modern city like Shenzhen (even GZ and SH), in the modern areas of town where the younger educated gals 20-30 hangout, it's very easy to get a gf, hell even one-night stands are not uncommon here.

Like Sukhimviter and I were discussing Western restaurants; You never see a middle aged Chinese man or a Chinese family in these restaurants, but it is not uncommon to see 20-30 year old girls in them, either on a date with a foreigner or with other female friends.

In the USA/England/Canada/Australia there is a large percentage of Asian or Chinese girls going/marrying Caucasian guys. The percentage is far far greater than Asian guys going/marrying white girls. In fact, many will never go out with an Asian male if there are ever asked. Then many Asian girls don't even like being their own race. Non whites, minorities feel like there are second class citizens.

In my opinion it mainly do to height advantage of Caucasians. Next, seeing plenty of Western movies with Caucasian stars like BLT doesn't help. Then you add a few negatives on Asian males due to their background and culture. As a result, there is a large percentage of Asian girls that are interested in Caucasian males in the USA/England/Canada/Australia.

Second, Asian women in western countries have been "westernized" to a certain extent, can speak English and have become accustomed to the local culture. Some of them were even born and grew up in the country as second or even third generation.

You cannot compare these Asian women with those that were born and raised in China and never been out of the country for longer than a holiday at best.

Yes, the movies have an affect on a few (my scenario for example) to look for the "romanticism" they see, but IMHO, most would prefer security in the comfort of their homeland given the opportunity from a local guy.

Have been to China six times now, north and south. I am a professional white male, late 40's, average height, thinning hair, not over weight, but no Brad Pitt for sure. I met so many beauties I lost count, many freebies and a few that were almost free. The gals all loved my size (dick) even if it scared them at first. One of the hottest was a MILF in Beijing late 30's? And a great body. She was employed by a big cell phone company. I believed the question was about getting Chinese women in China. As bnlee quoted; it is about face, that is everything to them. That is something that non-Chinese person will ever understand. But you are correct in some of your quotes, Chinese women in other countries are not into their face or would they ever care or understand what that means, so it is much easier to find them out of China. Another thing about China Chinese women, they do not consider looks as their priority is choosing a mate. If fact, they do not want to marry someone in the BLT category.

Flame me for generalizing, but IMHO, all things being equal, the vast majority of Chinese girls will go for a local man over a western man every time. The key is "all things being equal" in terms of looks, money, age, etc. It is much easier for them because of the language and culture. Chinese women are very practical.

There are exceptions, but the percentage is small. Just look around. You see many more Thai & Filipina girls with western men than you see Chinese.
