There used to be multiple posts every day. Now I have a friend who is locked up in jail for 15 days because he hired a hooker. No trial, I expect he gets deported after release.

One thing to add to my previous post, it is also strange that there was more than one month period when there was no post in this forum during when it happened. I never seen such a long gap in this Beijing forum. Don't know if there is any connection or just a coincidence.

Worm/PeterBlue I don't doubt your stories, but maybe I doubt his? If they were looking to bust foreigners, Maggie's would be ground zero. They would only need to get the taxi bastards that hang out front in on the gig, give them 25 RMB each, and it would be like pulling in a seine net. Seems like if this were happening, we'd hear a lot more about it, the way I hear about foreigners getting nailed left and right for drugs, either consumption or or possession.

BTW, the penalty for drunk driving, at least by foreigners, is far more serious than 15 days. One can be sentenced to six months, but more likely, an infraction will now ultimately lead to deportation.

I also don't doubt any of the reports, I only think that we only know a part of the full story, there is more.

I too would love to know the true story. I have been visiting Beijing for 20 years and pursuing the fairer sex with vigour each and every trip from all manner of sources. NEVER have I EVER seen any concern from LE* regarding willing mature aged adults getting together for mutual pleasure. It just does not happen if both participants are playing within the established rules of decency and common sense.

* - The infamous raid on Maggies where hoards of visitors from the Steppes were summarily dispatched home. Many never to be permitted to return. But NEVER a male. NEVER.

I thought something similar. But we won't know what actually happened, I suspect the police may have marked him. This is pure speculation, an arrest says nothing of somebody's behaviour, I've seen a fair share of questionable behaviour from foreigners. I'm not saying that dude was like that but often from the authoritys perspective, they may have targeted him? Yeh, it does sound like paranoia tbf.

Or, he could have been an innocent victim of a sweep specifically targeting foreigners.

This is the second time I see such report in this Beijing forum in last few years. Last one I saw may be a year or two ago, very similar report, a guy was arrested just after he came out from a massage parlor. I don't remember if there was any follow up of that news, don't know what happened afterwards.

Now, this brings several questions. First, if they (police) want to stop this business, why they don't shut down the places? Definitely they know about all the locations and identity of every establishment and provider, because if we can know about them, they can also know. Many massage parlors and providers are there from many years now. And if they don't want to shut down the places and providers then why they are arresting their customers? Now if the reason is that they want to stop this business from the customer side, then why they arrest people so less often? How that will make these business to stop? Mainly when such incident of arrests don't even come in the mainstream news, how the foreigners will know about that and stop going there? We see in this case, that the guy is not allowed to mention about which spa he went, why? If he mentions about that spa then people will not go there and the business of that spa will go down. Otherwise the spa will run as usual. So if they don't want to affect the business of that spa, why arresting their customers? For money?

To me, many things don't add up, it seems to me there are a lot more in this scene which we don't know.

He is screwed. He is trying to tell everyone at work that it was drunk driving, but locals know that the punishment for drunk driving is now standardized at 15 days no early release. What he did was to go to a Spa, which the cops were watching, he went in, they came in and busted him, but left the place open for he next unfortunate guy. He won't tell me which SPA. The company is asking the police for the arrest report, which has the details, so he will get fired. Assuming his wife doesn't kill him first.

Sounds like Administrative Detention, can be renewed before review at about 30 days. As for being deported he should be more worried about his wife's reaction not to mention employer.
