Just got back from a 7 day visit to Beijing for a conference but had 1 night to get out and here are some observations and recommendations:

1. English is VERY limited here, even at a hotel chain like "Holiday Inn Express".

2. You can't use Google for anything, including searches, and maps.

3. Taking the "Airport Express" subway train from airport is easy from easy terminal (just look for the sign) only 25 RMDs and gets you close into the city to either take another train or catch a metered taxi for a lot lower price.

4. Although I took an unlocked GSM smartphone with me like I normally do when traveling abroad, I couldn't find any place to get a prepaid SIM (but I didn't try very card). So, couldn't try the Wechat approach to meeting girls.

5. The "Gui Jie" area has some very inexpensive restaurants and good Chinese food, but hardly anyone speaks English. However, menus have items written in English and with pictures.

6. IMO, in 7 days that I was Beijing, I didn't see any girls that were what I would consider "attractive". I'm sure that in a city / country of so many, there are some, but I didn't see any in the subways, in shopping malls, in stores / restaurants, or in these two bars:
