Beijing Police has ordered six entertainment venues to suspend trading for rectification after being found involved with alleged prostitution and gambling.

Media reports say the police operation is the first major raid targeting prostitution in the Chinese capital this year. It is orchestrated by Wang Xiaohong, who was appointed Beijing police chief in March 2015.

Wang is a key figure behind the closure of a large high-end nightclub over prostitution-related crimes in 2013 in Henan province. He was the provincial police chief by that time.

Meanwhile, Beijing police have also carried out a series of special clean-up operations which focus on the implementation of lodging industry's security system, the crackdown of unlicensed sites, and the strict control of crimes connected to prostitution and gambling.
