Hello friends,

This is my first time traveling to Beijing. Have some experience with Shanghai though. I recollect language is a huge barrier in checking out the local scene. I usually prefer to call someone at the Hotel. I have always found it safe within the 4 walls of my hotel room. Anyone can share a contact who they have some experience with? Someone who can communicate in basic English. I am staying at one of the hotels in Chaoyang District. Can share hotel name etc on PM if you wish to know. Would really appreciate some help and info. Also it would be good to know what should I pay for a couple of hours of company so that I don't get completely compromised being a foreigner.

I was in Shanghai for a week in October. Stopped by Judy's and it was jam packed. On a weekday. I think a Thursday. Had fun with a snappy little spinner back at my hotel. The day before, I was at the elevator, waiting to go down and a sharp independent was leaving, too. She set me up with a girlfriend for later in the evening, who happened to just love DATY. She just kept cumming and cumming, pop; pop; pop, like an automatic weapon! Prices were about the same as usual and the hotel gave no hint of caring one bit. The kid at the door gave me a card for another of their locations but I didn't feel like taking the taxi from Xuhui to Pudong.

I didn't notice as many BBS's as usual, but then again I was mostly working my tail off while there. I did notice some absolute Glamazon stunners walk into the Hyatt on the Bund, on the arm of some gangster-type, and I'm wondering now if there's a good bar or disco there. But that will wait for next trip.

So, in my opinion, in Shangai at least, things are reasonably normal. I'll be in Beijing in May, for a trade show. I'm betting the usual touts will be handing out 'business' cards galore. Can things be as bad in Beijing as you say?
