Just a quickie as I dont get online as much these days. Hit the Chun Xiu Lu sauna again on the weekend. Went in about 5.30am after Maggies. All very much the same as usual only I managed to stay awake and actually get my moneys worth from the girl. Certainly the most GFE one Ive had from what is now 4 times of asking. The VIP room was occupied so we had to take seperate rooms. Total damage, 2300rmb ( 2 x girls, top tariff + obvious extra charges).

Sammy, from your description, I figure the KTV you are talking about is actually the only KTV Ive been to in Beijing. That was about a year ago. From what I can remember, the girls were 300rmb tip each but noone participated in take out. They did do all the usual naked games and dancing though and was actually quite fun. Just not my scene.

    Sid

PS, anyone noticed the two young russian girls working the den recently. Massive tits!!! However yet to try!

I am not sure what additional details you might need. The KTV scene can be a lot of fun but in my opinion it is better suited for a large group. Think of it more like a strip club environment back in the USA. Sure, you can go by yourself, but it is more fun when you go with a bunch of your friends.

The major downside is you really need to speak some Mandarin, or have a local friend who does, to truly take advantage of just about any KTV in China, including Beijing. Sure, you can get by at Passion's just speaking English, but that place can set you back thousands of US$, literally.

The KTV near the Lido on which I reported is reasonably priced, and it is possible to take girls out. Not every girl is available for take out, and none of the girls speak much English beyond very basic conversation "hello, where are you from, how old are you"

Tips for the girls runs 300 RMB for the whole night (paid at the end). For this the girls will let you touch them all over, and they will get naked and dance for you if you want too. When you are ready to go you will need to negotiate with the individual girl as to how much. A friend had no problem taking his girl out for only 400 RMB, but my girl would not go home with me regardless of the money I offered.

Location (you should take a taxi as it is a little beyond walking distance) - go out the main Lido gate and turn left. Go under the airport express way and through the first and second light. You will see a large Siemens building on your right. Keep going straight and you will see a McDonalds and KFC on your left. Make a "U" turn and get out of the taxi in the complex where the McD and KFC are located. There are actually 2 KTVs in this complex. The one I have been to is the 2nd one, past the KFC. Basically it goes McD, KFC, KTV1, Chinese Medicine store, KTV2.

    Hope this helps

I joined this for a time last year, but never had a chance to try it. There are too many more attractive, less expensive options. This site uses English, so the target audience is the well-heeled foreigner, us. Using this site will cost a premium, although the girls are probably legit. Many of the pictures are the same as http://www.banwan.com or http://www.travelion.com .

    Total cost for two: (220 x 2) + (400 x 2) + 400 = 1640

We thought this was pricey. The experience was average, especially because there were not many girls and we did not get a room (which is rmb 1300 for a small one). Does anyone know if we need to pay mamason the rmb 400 for takeout?
Mama-san Fee : This is reasonably pricey considering you were only in the bar, however i have come across it a few times - especially in the high class KTV's in shanghai - but i have never experienced it in Beijing in a bar. Its common if you take a room, but even then RM400 for the mama-san seems a bit steep - unless you got a great experience and intend to come back again. I normally give the mama-san from RM200-RM300 - but only if i am in a room. But i don't think you were massively ripped off - Passions or Diamond Age girls ask RM500 to just talk - but then there are no mamma-san's in the bar.

I do notice that my friends from Hong Kong, Singapore and taiwan seem to get asked to pay for a lot of extra's - if they are old timers they normally don't pay, if they are new they sometimes pay because they don't know the system. I suspect if you speak pudongwa and are new the locals have a greater latitude to ask for these extra's.

    Normally you pay in KTVs:

    1. The room, depending on size and whats included (drinks, snacks, etc.). A room good for 10-12 (5 or 6 guys plus 5-6 girls should be 600-1000 RMB, depending on room standard and drinks included. drinks included might be 20+ bottles of beer or 2 bottles of Whiskey incl. mixers)
    2. The girls: Tip.. depending on the place, usually 200-300
    3. Mamasan: 100-200
    4. Waiter: 100, sometimes.
    5. Toilet boy: 10, not mandatory

So, your experience in my opinion was a bit pricey if the girls were only "soso", but not outrageous. If the girls would be really nice, pretty and make a good show above standard, I would even say it would be a normal price for that.

Mamasan brought a few girls for us to select. she said because of Chinese New Year there were only 30 girls (normally 100+). The girls we selected were 6, 6.5 in looks. Takeout is available: we were quoted 1500 ST, 2000 LT.

Call 13601190483 and get directions directly form the mamasan. The location is north east second ring, in the building with the huge NEC neon sign on top, which you can see when you drive on the second ring.

Mid room is 800RMB including 24 bottles of beer. 300RMB tip per girl. A plus there is that they also have some English speaking ones. Take out is possible, but as in every KTV you should ask about this when you pick the girls, since not every girl will be available for that (but 80% will).

I would avoid it since I sense there are better options. I also checked out the Tianlun Dynasty KTV, the girls there are hotter I believe with a great selection. I went early at 9:30 and saw the girls strolling in. Take out costs will range about $2000-$2500 if you just view the girls from the bar area.

    Cialis

There is a sex shop on the side street between the HRC and the Lufthansa center. Have several small shops. This store is about the second last one.

They sell some toys, and have Viagra and Cialis lin the package sealed that look legit. And have the generics, and other stuff. I bought the Cialis there several times, and it appears to work like the real stuff.

They ask 200RMB for one package (4 pills). I buy two packages for 300.

Have not tried the Viagra there, or the generics.

    First timer in BJ

    Howdy!

I'll be passing through BJ (my first time) from March 22nd-April 2nd. I've read a lot about Maggies, Hollywood, Pig etc and am looking to get some (read a lot of) action -- since I've never had mongol, russian or chinese -- I'd like to try each. I'll be staying in the Haidan district and I was wondering if anyone has tips about joints / bars in that area? If not, I guess I'll have to move to prime downtown.

On another note, are FS massages typical even in high-end hotels?

    V & C

Just as an update for those interested in experimenting, Viagra and Cialis are both available in many of the local neighborhood 'adult/ sex shops' (I saw it in three, so not a representative sample but nevertheless).

Hard to say whether they are real. If not, then at least the packaging and leaflets are copied to perfection (I. E. No spelling errors, plastic film covered cardboard box etc.) Sticker-price also suggests they are real, 200. 250 for a Cialis and around 400 for Viagra. Of course, that can all be done to make you believe it's not fake, but my sense is that these shops cater to locals who have more of a sense of what's real and what's not. The owner would therefore sell this stuff decidedly cheaper if it wasn't real. In fact, they do sell a local alternative at least to V, with similar packaging and naming, for much less.

    Sammy / Intransit

You guys around Mar 17 to 21?

Will be in town for 4 nights - want to catch up if we can?

Intransit - Hollywood here we come!

Guys some interesting info from Shanghai over CNY.

Several Russian girls in Tongren Lu asking RMB2,000 to 2,500 ST - up to RMB3,500 LT - un-fucking-believable - just typical Hollywood quality - certainly not 'model' types.

2 Mongolian girls in Manhattan Bar on Tongren Lu on a Sat night stood with VERY LITTLE conversation with 'would-be' punters for 4 hrs before eventually being 'escorted' out the door.

Price offered to BBB 5 minutes after they arrived - RMB1,500 LT - 5 minutes before they left - RMB1,500.

    Quality I hear you ask?

About very much 'MIDDLE OF THE ROAD' for a typical Maggies line-up.

Give me Beijing anytime - however I do just love that 'RED ROPE' at Shanghai Hotel.

    Thank you Sammy

That was a great reply and one that I was hoping to receive.

The cost is rated per day for everything not just the hotel.

It basically is for the flight, hotel, side trips, their help while you are there and help in getting tickets.

What i am paying right now for 10 days s little over $1000 more than what people are now paying for 6 days due to my registration a year ago with 1/3 deposit.

Is the Grand Hyatt girl friendly then?

I love the idea of the apt. but the biggest draw to this agency is them getting you tickets to any event , especially the closing ceremonies.

Now, if you can tell me of a reputable company in China that will be selling tickets at face value for all events, and I can get 2 tickets to any event, then please PM me or list your suggestion here because I may change my itinarary and do my trip piece by piece.

I will be there from 8/16-26 so i hope to see some of you guys there and buy you a drink for all of your direction.

I will even buy you one Lao. I know sometimes people get caught up in things so no worries!

    Thanks again for everyone's insight.

You will not have any problem with any of the facilities at a 4 or 5 star hotel in Beijing, or anywhere else in China for that matter. I would suspect that the 3 stars will probably be OK as well. Don't get me wrong, I have stayed in the no aircon/hot water hotels outside of Beijing, but these are never listed as 4 or 5 star hotels.

Everyone knows that I am a huge fan of the Lido and the Pig, but I think the Grand Hyatt is the best all-around hotel in Beijing. It is located down town within in a major shopping area, and within walking distance of one of the major tourist attractions - the Forbidden city. Even though the Lido is a 4 star hotel, it is getting old and run down. I would almost give them 3.5 stars, and they still charge 5 star prices. I am surprised to hear it is going to cost you $2000 extra (that is $200 extra per day over a 10 day trip) to stay at the 5 star vs the 4 star. I would expect it to be about $100 extra per day, but the rates must be jacked up for the Olympics. I still think that I would choose the comfort of the Hyatt and watch this board for where to find the girls over the Olympic week.

As a trial run for the Olympics Beijing put in to effect many of the measures they have planed during the African Summit that took place here this summer. It is the only time in the last 10 years that I have been going to Maggie's (has it really be 10 years, wow!), that they closed their doors to working girls due to government pressure. They were still open, and had their Chinese bar girls there, but the Mongolian girls were not allowed in. On the other hand, The Pig was packed every single night. Traffic was also well controlled, so if they put the same rules into effect staying down town will not be a huge traffic problem.

While we are on the topic, I agree with Albert Punter that a serviced apartment would be a very good alternative. I understand that this will not suit TheGun's needs, but for other that are considering traveling to Beijing you could probably book a service apartment for the whole month for the same cost of 10 days in a 4 or 5 star hotel. The benefits include all of the amenities of a hotel, plus a kitchen and the ability to (generally) bring back anyone you want, anytime you want.

    Good Luck!

    Sammy
