Spas are virtually non-existent now. If any are operating, then they are doing it NOT in the open. For outcall, try NightLife (see classifieds and last few pages of reports). Otherwise, you could try a random nearby MP. If the cost is around 168 RMB, has ear cleaning on menu, and providers look like Shrek, then probably a legit place. Otherwise, prepare to spend at least 400-500 for a massage from the "SPA" menu and pay another 300-500 tip for a HJ. Finally, there's not enough info in your last paragraph to provide advice. In general, if you're being pointed to a place that's operating in the open with a sign out front, then probably safe. But if you have to meet someone to take you to this place, then I would pass because it could go either way.

I actually got the recommendation from a taxi driver, he didn't seem keen to give away the location of spa though, only his number. He wanted to get my contacts but I just took his number instead so I can get him if needed. How safe would you think this is? It seems 50-50 here.

(B) I book room in 4/5 star hotel and she sneaks into it. (C) We each book a room, but only use hers. So neither one of us is sneaking into hotel, but my room is unused.

I've done all 3, but I'm always a little nervous regardless of which option I use.

In my opinion, it is better you book the 4/5 star hotel, then let they come in because your are entitled to stay there legally. Not the other way aroound.

Agree. Book a room yourself. I book 5 stars with a large lobby. No one would even pay attention when I walk in with a lady. Having said that, I do think (but I do not always think with the right tool) that it is not worth the hustle any more unless the whole thing provides additional thrill to you. Catch me if you can?

I am living in China for more than 15 years, you are taking a lot of risk just for having some sex. The hotels need a special licence to accept foreigners. Booking a room and not sleeping there is at high risk for me. Small advice better you find some girl friends and having fun in a more restricted circle, you never know what can happen.

Traveling in a few weeks. Seems that J and be are back in business. My little hottie from HCMC, who stayed with me in my hotel during the troubles, she is there and waiting. Usually when I get from the airport, she will be at my hotel within the hour and for there will not be much conversation when we meet again. She works at J, but indicated on wechat that business was not good, from her perspective. Probably the places are loaded with Vietnamese ladies and, she is in her 30's, the younger ones get pole position. As a foreigner, I've never been allowed to book a Hanting Hotel. And I don't think foreigners are allowed the hourly access and rates anyway. However, there are plenty of other cheap hotels (such as Ji Hotel, 268 Motel, Ibis Hotel) that go for about 200-300 rmb for overnight stay. Surprisingly, the Highton Hotel next to the Hilton Hotel has an overnight rate of about 330, and it's a pretty good hotel, but the location sux because it's almost in the middle of nowhere. Finally, I wouldn't try asking the girls to book the ST hotel. These days, girls do not want to do it, because they do not want a bunch of ST hotel bookings on "their permanent record" and it's not 100% easy for us to sneak into these hotels because they are very small hotels. One time, when I snuck into one, the front desk called the room and asked me to register. (I guess they had nothing better to do than to watch their security cameras.) I said I did not have ID, and then they asked for a bribe. So, I just took off. Another time, I was simply stopped from entering (the person asked me for my room key, and I didn't have one, and then he asked me which room I was going to and I didn't reply, and so he told me to go away). What I do these days is book a 4 star hotel for several days that goes for around 300-500, and then I meet a couple of girls each day. I never sleep there. I do this maybe about once a month or once every two months. It's a mongering stay-cation, LOL.
