Is Equatorial luxury? Are the rooms with large space and up to date renovated? I think it's a 4*hotel.

I would not say it is luxury but it is quite nice. They do have several renovated floors with updated rooms and nice views. I always stay executive level. King bed and good space. Cheap room = smaller, older room.

Still using VPNs on mobile phones?

When I am in China I now just use a HK SIM card (China Mobile. HK) which basically gives me uncapped (and unrestricted / uncensored) mobile internet for less than 4 USD per day.

Nice thing is that unlike Hilton you do not need a card to come up to the room so you can have here head on up ahead of you and meet her at the room.

Thank you all for information and recommendations. I will not use a hotel in Pudong. I am thinking about Paramount Gallery Hotel, Jin Jiang Tower or Equatorial, all seem to be in walking distance. Does anyone have already experiences with these hotels, especially with side entrances which offer an easy access?

Yes- most of the he massage places are closed with tape over the doors. Not sure about Saunas, but I would imagine they are also closed.

There are maybe 6-7 top tier hotels within walking distance of those clubs. It's also an excellent pedestrian-friendly area of town to be in. That's got to beat any hotel in Pudong. By walking back with the girl, and not arriving by taxi, it is easier to find a way in that eludes security.

That's a very long way away 30-45 minutes depending on where you are and time of day. Sometimes I worked in pudong but would spend the weekend at the hilton for my play activities. I would then transfer to a pudong hotel Sunday. If I found a girl over the weekend that I liked, I got her number and had her taxi to my pudong hotel at 7 or 8 pm. I could get a couple hours with her and send her back to work at judy's and get a good nights sleep. She saw it as a win because she had a customer before judy's / manhattans even opened. If the girl figured this out, I usually got a small break on the rate, but then paid it back to her for the taxi ride. Either way it was a win. Careful how much you hand out your number these days however.

Pudong has always been more strict on sauna activities so be careful going to a Sauna or an he place.

I agree with the assessment of the Hilton. I also never had an issue returning at all hours of the night with my "Friend". Since the hotel has now changed names I'm not sure where I will stay while in Shanghai but I'm sure I will find somewhere nice.

I have never had a problem with the Hilton in the 8 years i have been going.. If you walk in seperate from your date, they leave you alone. They don't want to accuse a viet girl and find out she is a guest. Of course if you take a girl that is not dressed appropriately, she will stand out and you get what you get. I did walk in once holding her hand. I am over 50 and she was 25. They immediately came over and had her sign in. It was no problem then but there is no way in today's situation I would want to sign in. Also good to ask I the girl had been to the hotel that night with another customer. They told me once (when I was at the lobby with the girl) that she had already been there. They were required to contact the POPO if I demanded they sign her in.

HIlton is changing names (already changed) so I don't know what the management is like now as I have not been back in a while.

The ritz carlton (which can be pricey) is the street infront of Manhattans. As you go around the building there is a side door that takes you in the back right to the elevator. It makes the trip about 1 block walk. No need to even get a taxi.

Stay safe over there. I will be over next year so I am paying attention.

Since I'm currently staying there, I'm not in a position to post the name of my hotel. However, most hotels are girl friendly, so that's not a problem. I always look for a way to enter that does not take me through the lobby. Probably unnecessary, but an extra precaution.
