According to NLO, they were raided last night (13th) and many girls were arrested.

I have been there when the POPO check the girls passports. If they don't have the right paperwork, they get taken away.

Not sure if that's what he meant. No way to arrest a girl in a bar if she's not doing anything. Sex is not illegal in China. Paid sex is. If you and her don't say anything, not much happens. If you admit to paying for it (even if they tell you they just want her) they will arrest you. Don't believe when they say they don't want you.

If you want to pick up girls the old fashioned way, then you can go to any ex-pat hangout, such as Xintiandi, Laowai Street, or any high-end bar / club and meet girls hoping to meet rich dudes. If you're a foreigner, they will automatically think you're rich. But if you're looking for P4 P action, then why not just collect WeChat contacts of MP girls? Many of them are willing to meet you before or after their shift for FS. Some of them will let you go to their apartments. These contacts are especially useful during crackdowns or windy weather. My MO is after I have a good session with an MP girl, I get their WeChat. Then, later that night, before they forget who I am, I exchange friendly chats with them and eventually ask if we can boink. About 1/3 of the time they will be aghast and say no, about 1/3 of the time they will be coy, but about 1/3 of the time they will ask "how much will you give me?" Haha.

Hah it actually works in clubs here? I'm not a stranger to going anywhere alone but it can sometimes be hard to make contact.

Regarding WeChat, I assume you do have to be a bit vague with terminology or not? Assuming your conversations might be monitored in some way. Also leaving hard evidence behind which you wouldn't have when negotiating in J's.

Anyway, I might give all of these methods a try and see how it goes. Any special cues for the MP places to look out for?

M / J about as safe as it gets in Shanghai. While Chinese authorities could jail you (in a country without due process), it would likely be too much work for them in a private transaction between 2 foreigners. Many patrons just go there to drink and flirt anyway. So M / J, while not 100%, safer than massage parlors, saunas, touts or agencies.

I do have some stable and reliable contacts I got from where I had ever been to. Sh-sauna (previously Lotus sauna, Japanese stuff), Sauna in WuGong Hotel. Can expect 7/10 GFE experience from their girls.

While things are meant to cool down a bit by the end of the week from BJ visitors, don't forget:

* October 1st will be the 70 years anniversary of the party.
* China International Import Expo (CIIE) goes live again in Shanghai from Nov 5th to 10th.

Both events which should activate local LE to be more agressive regardless of BJ visitors coming back.
Therefore the typhoon season will be extended quite late this year.
