another way to get a short term place to meet up without having to go through the hassle of registration is to use bath houses.

there is a masseuse i once started seeing quite often and we decided to see each other outside of the massage parlor itself so we can "go the whole way". she is the one that suggested that we meet at a bath house. the one we went to is the "jinlyu bathouse" or something like that. it's on the yan'an service road, on the side of the street heading east from hongqiao airport, about 500m west of hongmei road. it is now under renovation, but i have seen similar bathhouses rep001tered around shanghai.

once done, you go back down, take your showers in your respective locker / shower room areas and then meet at reception. pay the bill and done. no ids needed, and the price is pretty reasonable (i think my total bill comes to about 200 rmb most of the time).
