It really feels like it's time to give up

OK fellas, I know, this is only my 2nd ever post on ISG, and that I have been a lurker on here for a couple of years, but I hope I can bring something to the discussion.

I have lived in Shanghai for 6 years, and I agree with the posters below that this is by far the worst time to monger in Shanghai, and I'm now thinking of giving up for good. Now compared to some regular posters here, my mongering over the years has been very light. I have no experience of the saunas whatsoever, I have done takeout at Ms only once. Back in 2014 (I can't take anyone home these days for reasons you can probably guess), and my activity has mainly consisted of MPs (Spring etc.) with the usual extras thrown in.

Up to a couple of years ago it was nice, simple, and discrete. But now, given how LE and local govt has cracked down so heavily on the scene, I'm just not in the mood for it anymore. Here are my main reasons:

    - However low the risk is, a quick HJ in an MP now just doesn't seem worth it. I run a business here that's going great, and I have an awful lot to lose if ever I was the slightest bit involved in a raid.

    - The constant feeling of being watched. Whenever I feel like visiting a MP, more often than not, there'll be some shady looking guy sitting on a scooter in the street near the entrance surveying the situation. Of course I understand he may be there to raise the alarm in case the LE come knocking, but it just puts me on edge, and more often than not, just makes walk away and go home.

    - The huge increases in price. When things go from 188 to 600 (or more depending on the tips they ask for) for the same service in just 3 or 4 years, it sure doesn't make you feel like going so often.

    - The fact that you can no longer take a shower in the room. The last HJ I had was in July (Ronghua E road in case anyone is desperate for an underwhelming HJ, 298 +200 tip by a slightly plump 6 wearing trousers, plus I'm not even sure it's still open), and I was just wiped down with some hot towels afterwards. Not cool.

So there we go, I think I'm done, unless things to go back to how they were, but I highly doubt it.

    Hotel Spa action

I've said this many times, but I'll say it again. I've always been surprised by the lack of reports on ordering room service from the hotel spa. Is it because we don't want the hotel to get into trouble? Anyway, at most Western hotels (e. G. Marriott, etc), an expensive mechanical HJ is usually available. At Chinese hotels (any hotel with a Chinese name), FS is almost always available, but the girl is usually a 3 and the tip is crazy expensive, like 2000. But, I sometimes still order room service because it's super convenient. The girl is at your room within minutes of you calling. When you call them, they will often ask if you're alone, to make sure you're not with your wife and asking for a legit massage. One time when I was in Beijing, I ordered room service at Crowne Plaza Hotel. Got FS, and the next day I saw that girl working at the hotel gift shop, LOL.

You saw the recent excellent reports on M and J from HookLineSinker and Tiger21. So, if that's your thing, then those are options. However, reliable intel from other members suggest that those joints might soon close temporarily with the 70th anniversary of CCP around the corner. The outcall agencies are unreliable IMHO, with the exception of Nightlife. The strange thing about Shanghai is that they don't have discreet MPs with FS on the menu that SPECIALLY cater to Westerners like they do in Beijing (but these types of establishments suck anyway because the girls are usually old 3's, so no big loss). And now there are no BBSs or saunas, at least none that are easily accessible. This leaves MPs, but standard tip is 300 for mechanical HJ. Hope this helps with your decision.

As someone who has lived in Shanghai for the last 10 years, I would say right now is by far the worst time to monger and things will not get better any time soon. All the amazing saunas are long gone, and the remaining options are super expensive with average service. For the price of a girl at Manhattans / Judy's, you would be better off saving that money for places like Thailand, Philippines, or Indonesia where you will get much more "bang" for your buck and better service. Sure, you might stumble upon an occasional gem at M & J, but you will be competing with tons of Chinese punters who are top of the food chain at those establishments. On top of this, the weather in Shanghai has been very risky this year, and with the upcoming National Week (70th anniversary of founding of PRC, quite a big deal for the country), there is an elevated risk of LE activity. M & J have been raided before. There are online options like Nightlife Online and Massage Republic, but the quality is not great. I would say, if you have time, fly to SH but add on a side trip to TH / PH / ID and save your money for those places. Safe travels.

If this is your first trip to China you can go to Manhattan or Judy's and pick up a 6 and she will look like a 9 to you. It takes awhile in Asia before you get used to Asian beauty standards. If you don't want to do that then for another $300 you can buy a round trip ticket to Bangkok. Asia is a wonderful place to visit. Go while you can.

I'll leave it to more experienced locals to advise you. But I've spotted USD $200 return flights from Shanghai to Manila. It's about a 3 hour journey. Why not spend a few days in Shanghai, as there is lots of tourist stuff to do and you can still test the local establishments that work for you. Then play more in Manila. The extra USD200 for the unplanned flights will actually save you cash overall. Accommodation and enjoyment are way cheaper in Manila.

Why would anyone bother telling you anything when you haven't contributed to a single field report.
Besides this kind of activity even when saunas were still massivly around has been removed following some incidents several years ago. Hence why the post you answered to is written using the past tense.

    M and J update

I second that. I was also in M on Sunday too. Last time I was there was probably a year ago.

And what a difference. Lot less ladies and more Asian men. I also noticed the hotties where only interested in Asian men, as not many ladies so they could take their pick of the crop. I soon bolted and went to J's.

J's was a similar story however some of the girls in there looked very young, I was wondering if one or two of them were [CodeWord903].

The hotties were cold. So I settled for an older lady. Warmed up to her inside and we had a great time in the bar and in the room. I had 2 rounds and asked her to leave as I had work the next day. Damage 2 k as I gave her a 500 tip, hoping the word gets around to her younger friends. Will pop in again tomorrow to see if that worked. However it could go south if she latches on.

Have not visited Shanghai in about a decade, so I've zero reference point to comment on it's trajectory. But the place was about 70% full, so not bad for a Sunday.

The most interesting change was that the best talent only wanted to go with Japanese, Korean and North Asian men generally. The extent of this surprised me. In hindsight, it probably should not have. It went down like this.

Walked through the door. Usual set up. Women around the fringes. Best towards the front, worst towards the back where lighting is darkest.

Surprise No. 1: Most of the tables accommodated 2-3 men, drinking and shooting shit. Out of about 20 tables of men, maybe only 3 or 4 of them had attracted women to sit or stand with them..

Surprise No. 1: Most of the tables accommodated 2-3 men, drinking and shooting shit. Out of about 20 tables of men, maybe only 3 or 4 of them had attracted women to sit or stand with them. I began to wonder why.

Surprise No. 2: Immediately grabbed a drink at the bar and began a walk around the edges, assessing prospects. Standard was good enough. Lots of 6-7's and a surprisingly good number of 7-8's. Thought I even caught a glimpse of a few 8-9's. Of course these ratings might go down a notch if viewing at the beach, but in the dim light of M, they were better than I anticipated. We all have different classifications, but if you dial-up or down my scores by 1, you'll be about right. I began to think tonight would be a success.

Surprise No. 3: Approached Viet hottie by the side wall. Solid 8, about 20 yo who responded with a smile. Began to chat, but approach went cold. Like, ice old. Moved on within a couple of minutes to Viet hottie number 2, similar age and rating. Same shit show. Smile, introduce, then cold. Checked myself to see if I had two heads, vomit on my shirt or some sort of new growth on my face, but immediately realized that I had the usual form that gets me laid at bars in my home town. Began to think WTF but reminded myself that M is like shooting in a barrel and got over it in a millisecond.

Surprise No. 4: Grabbed a table near the front. Hot Russian pole dancers disrobed within reach, reminding me of wives and girlfriends. Then bar manager brings two Korean or Japanese dudes to the table next to me. I immediately sense movement by the back wall. Like some sort of seismic event. Within a blink of an eye, two of the youngest 9's in the place appear, floating within a foot or two of the new Jap-orean dudes. The guys order 12 Corona's and then another three 8-9's arrive. Holy fuck, these are the same women who blanked me. So I'm now catching on to the fact that seemingly all the best, youngest tottie were hunting a particular type of man.

Meanwhile, Viet hottie number 3 swings by for a chat with me, seemingly following the swarm of chicks around the table next to me. She looked like a low-light 9 but no doubt a solid mid-20's 7-8. My MO for the evening was to smash and grab, so I probed for potential. Positive responses to all the tough questions. Promised all the tricks, super friendly, good enough english, 1. 5 K for a fling and 2. 5 K until tomorrow. Explained that I don't need sleep, that I want to repeat all night lomg and the deal was done within 20 minutes of arrival. Out the door and into the street.

Seasoned observers will see the mistake that I made. For the rest of you, here it is.

Back in the room, she's super friendly. Great body. Pretty face. Natural looking fake tits. Good all round 8 in the well lot hotel room. DFK, BBBJ with lots of spit. So far so good.

Asks for cash up front. Fuck. Are you kidding. Conversation ensues. I don't bend my rule of cash after. Never will. But I do show her the cash in the safe so she knows its there and we get back to business.

Get fucking and this chick is great. Really into it. I've put the awkward cash demand behind me and am back in the moment.

I hear her tell me something anls I am doing her from behind. I thought she said 'again'. We'd been fucking for about 5 mins, so I'm taking this as a good sign. So I keep going at it for another 5 mins. The fucking was great, but gentle enough by my book. We were just warming up. The missus gets fucked way rougher / harder / longer / deeper than this.

I go to change from position No1, to try a second position, and said hooker tells me she has 'pain'. I'm thinking, FTF? This is your occupation, we've been at it for about 10 mins in low to moderate intensity. I'm average size at best, probably less than. She can't be serious.

So she goes for a blow job for a few minutes befire I enquire on the well being of her pussy.

She tells me it's to painful. Again, WTF? That I'm too big, WTF?

Long story short, she wants to sleep and presumably hide her pussy from me until morning and take the full freight cash payment. I tell her it's time for her to go, that she's hit, the fuck was good for the few minutes it lasted and that here is the 1.5 k she earned in the hour or so that she had been in the room. That's a shitload of cash by the way, in any middle-class setting. I was being generous because I realized that I had let myself be screwed and that it was my fault for not seeing the signs.

A few minutes of debate and I kick her out quietly with 2 K.

Moral of the story. 1) The hotties at M are hunting north Asian dudes, seeking quick, light fuck for full price; 2) when the ***** demanded cash up front, I should have given her 200 K and said goodbye immediately; 3) I was played and should have seen the signs right back at the bar when I was approached, as she was obviously too keen and I was pussy whipped by the situation playing out.

    Lesson learned.

Interestingly, both hotel rooms on either side of mine (4 star hotel) played out some high emotion hooker crying. 'You pay me', 'I am very angry' kind of shit. I reckon they are playing the game at M.

Yes, when The Spot was moved, a few months ago, next / above J: the WGs were obliged to enter the Spot first and have a drink to spice things up. Seems that the 2 places had the same management. BTW, The Spot should not have moved, it was perfect with the outdoor seating, I don't know the new place on The Nanjing road corner, but will try it next time.
