I haven't been back to Spring since they took the showers out of the rooms about 8 months back, any insights?

I was at the Spring massage in Xuhui (there's 2 locations, I went to the wanping II location). If you tell them you want an oil massage, this location was 398, it comes standard with an HJ. Reading the Shanghai forum for the past couple months and thought I should start contributing.

Sauna's- The old Dongguan Sauna (Next top Merchant's Bank at Henan Lu and Zhoujin Lu) that got shuttered during the crackdown looks to be in the process of renovation. They look to be going for a bit less shady / more upstanding branding than the previous version (added glass doors and a large sign saying massage spa). I'm not concerned that the place has gone completely legit as a lot of goons I used to see around the Donguan version are back supervising construction. It looks like its getting ready to open any day so I'll report back.

On the down market end of the spectrum I've been noticing an increased number low end oil massage places north of peoples square. On Beijing Lu and the other on Xinchang lu. Standard tug shop experience, feels like you're getting a great deal until they start negotiating tips, and then you feel like an idiot for not going to spring on Maoming lu. If you find yourself in an emergency in that area.

A worker at 851 Shaanxi North Road spa told me it would reopen June 1st. I went by yesterday to check out the outside. The glass doors were intact with the usual bicycle lock. I find Rain and SNG / NLO to be almost identical (for example, price and service are quite similar) with one exception. Rain is a mega psycho (rhymes with a unt).
