I've stayed in a 5-star hotel in March, which really ensured every single guest was registered. But from April onwards, I stayed in a few other 5-star hotels, which only requires you to show your green health-code. So from personal experience, and from the few messages on NLO, I feel that hotels (in Shanghai at least) these days are more relaxed. The hotels I stayed it, all require a room key for the elevator; so yes in all cases, I had to ride up with them. The hotels I stayed in, are all in Lujiazui area, since that's nearby my office. The girls on NLO who did meet customers at hotels, so far had no problems.

First, sorry about your recent divorce.

Second, given your sad state, you may be tempted to take some risks. But here is the most important advice that I can give you: DO NOT FOLLOW ANYONE OR ACCEPT A GIRL FROM ANYONE THAT APPROACHES YOU! They are called TOUTS and they are scammers. They will either take you to a remote spot, and then a bunch of thugs will appear and ask you to give them hundreds of thousands of dollars. Or, a pretty girl will approach you, and ask you to join her for tea. At the tea house, the tea will arrive, and then the bill will be for hundreds or thousands of dollars (usually, the girl will go to the toilet and then disappear before the bill arrives). You might think Shanghai is Scamhai, but this happens in every major huge city that attracts tourists. I have been scammed all over the world. So, anyway, don't follow anyone that approaches you!!

Third, you are right that what you see online is likely too good to be true. If you order a girl from one of these services, the girl that appears will be uglier than the picture, and she will up-sell you and also rush you. She knows you are a one-off. So why would she give you good service?

Fourth, given that you are only here for a few days, and given that everyone is leery of foreigners due to COVID, it will be hard to find action from a real girl. In fact, Shanghai was becoming stricter in general even before the coronavirus. You can get jerked off from almost any MP, especially if they look like rundown MPs and it they are located somewhat off the beaten path. But if you cannot speak Chinese, then you will probably get ripped off paying a huge tip for a mechanical and rushed handjob.

Fifth, normally, I would suggest that you read the forum for intel, but you are only here for 5 days and so you just don't have time to become an expert. So, I suggest that you just use nightlife online. You can find them in the classified section. In the age of COVID, they probably only have 3 girls working right now. But they are all reliable. Finally I can recommend another good place if you are into roaming. The place has been reported long time ago. You can look for Fahuazhen in previous posts. It is one stop north of Hongqiao Road station on line 3/4. Closest stop is the West Yan'an Road. Place is a little bit hidden. It is on Fahuazhen on the west after the crossroad with Yangzhai road. Entrance is just next to some hairdressers. When you are coming from the crossroad and walking toward the west, look for the shops on your right. 10 m away there is a window with no signs, it is relatively dark inside. When they are opened, from the street you can only see some neons with some wall decoration in the back of the shop. Enter the shop. Price is 400. There is another place I would recommend next to line 10. On Yili Road station, take the Anshun Road on the East of the HongQiao Park.

Walk for 200 m, in the middle of the road on the north side, there is a massage parlor with 4 big yellow characters on the front. I recommend here to have #18.
