It continues to amuse me (well, actually makes me cringe) when people here refer to weather in Shanghai as being "stormy" or "windy" or "a sustained low pressure system.

Yes it's been 'windy' for at a least couple of weeks now. A lot of places still closed, especially Minhang. There has even been talk of freelancers being arrested in their apartments.

The general word is that things won't calm down until after the big "two sessions" in early March. Right now there are a few shops operating discretely but for me it's not worth the risk. Probably best to abstain for a couple more weeks and see how things are then.

I have a friend in Beijing I met in 2011 and used her services regularly. She is no longer is in the business but meets me every time I travel through Beijing. Another girl worked for me as an interpreter and we eventually ended up in bed together. We keep in touch and get together whenever I am in China. Finally there is my friend in Dalian. I used the services of a friend of hers in Shanghai. Her friend left the business but introduced me to my friend in Dalian. The Dalian lady was not in the business but just a good looking divorced woman. The problem is that after three years of lockdown they are all wanting to meet me somewhere in Asia. Meanwhile, I have a Thai lady in Hua HIn who is also begging for my return. Problems, problems, problems.

Sure. I kept in touch with many WGs after they retired. Many of them will still meet me after all these years, even though they are no longer in the biz. Some of them are even married now. There's two that will even travel a long distance to meet me, as long as I cover their travel and accomodations.

My two top spa gals had a falling out long ago, so no hope of 3 some. #18 is still in the game. Business visa renewals are only good for 60-90 days with the same paperwork as the previous 10 year multi entry visa. I'll wait.

I had to leave Shanghai after my biz trip and I sincerely regret not spending more time with both of them. In Jing'an district near Hangzhong road station you can fire up Dianping and look up for anmo places, check on the map view, and very quickly you will find very interesting options within walking distance. Had FS for 800 with a very talented one. I did not save numbers or addresses because I still have my old local number and I don't want to taint it.

Have a look at Youtube: China Street. The vlogger has recently done a series on Chongqing (a huge city, located within Sichuan Province). Many alleyways reveal providers. I am guessing but the going rate might be 100 RMB, or for some providers, 150 RMB. Determined by supply and demand, of course.

His footage is a delightful reminder of my days in China. Every district, almost, in the second and third tier city had their delightful alleyways, and neglected corners where it was easy to indulge the hobby. Of course, a knowledge of the language was helpful!

These alleyways are usually immune from regular policing.

The good news is that Manhattan has re-opened on Dec 15 albeit at a new location at 56 Maoming Lu. Now as I cannot yet get to China I have no idea of this exact location but so interesting that it has now relocated back to Maoming Lu where it once was over 20 years ago. Amazing.

Hopefully, we can get back on those planes and head to China with ZERO quarantine on arrival in 1st qtr 2023 - time will tell.

This is awesome news as I am relocating to Shanghai for work in September! I hope the Covid situation will have settled down by then.

It has been ages. Over 8 years! - since I have been back to China. I remember some really stunning VN girls were there back in the day. Though the price was a bit high. I would make it an occasional treat for myself (once every few weeks) after I relocate. I hope this is not just a pipe dream.

No reinstatement of 10 year tourist visas. There is no COVID situation here in Shanghai. It's only when you leave China that other countries don't want us.

Found this under Visa applications on the Chinese Embassy website. So it appears that our 10 year visas are still not valid.

As of January 8, 2023, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates-General in the US will adopt the following new requirements for Chinese visa application.

(Please note: At the current stage, multi-year multiple-entry visas issued before March 26,2020 are still suspended of use. If such visa holders need to go to China at this stage, they can apply for a new visa according to the requirements of this notice. Visa applications for tourism and medical treatment in China are temporarily not accepted.).
