But neither the hotel or club house staff were helpful claiming the spa is under renovation.

I must not have the secret handshake or password of sorts.

I just got a last minute assignment in Shanghai staying at the Quanji Hotel in the same building as SiYuan hope they are still open for business.

Originally planned to stay at Bodi, but they are apparently fully booked this weekend.

Haven't followed the forum for quite some time, so I guess a lot of my past knowledge is no longer applicable.

For your own sake and safety READ the forum. Right now the heat is on in Shanghai. I would not go to a sauna if it were free. LE is all over the place. Oil massages are risky and others have been arrested for using Wechat to set up a P4 P date. The only safe way to play in Shanghai is contact a regular who YOU know or go to a bar like Judy's and pick up a Viet girl. The latter too is not without risk as she may be required to register at your hotel. One never knows where that information goes. If caught, you could get 15 days of detention.

Before you assume such risks, read the posts from Boag11 on or about 9-13. Shanghai right now is a mongering nightmare so proceed with extreme caution. And NEVER go with a tout.

Great advice. I would just add don't reveal your real name or hotel room over wechat. Meet them out front, or better yet, lobby of nextdoor hotel. I take them in through the garage so no registration. Not perfect, but I'm all about minimizing risk.

I'm coming to Shanghai next week for a business trip & will be staying in Pudong Road area.

I'm looking for saunas or spas where I can get a good erotic massage followed by service like nude body to body or BJ or sex at a reasonable rate. But from the recent reports, it seems that the present sauna mongering climate in Shanghai is not good.

An independent is not going to replicate a sauna experience. But if you do use an independent and you cannot use your hotel room, then just book a short-time hotel, such as a Hotel 168. It'll only set you back 100 rmb.

I rarely post here, but I do read up on this forum once in a while. I was more active back when this site was called wsgforum.

You are confusing this site with another one.

I live in Shanghai now. The Police conduct a major crackdown every year before National Day, October 1. This crackdown is not just prostitution. The police are cracking down on businesses, coming in and inspecting a businesses liscense and visas of any foriegn employee (especially Filipino employees), checking out street vendors, and even cracking down on taxi drivers.

The point is that this is not a good time for mongering in Shanghai. I would wait until after the first week in October. Things will go hack to normal.

You can wait till after the first week of October but its very unlikely things will be back to normal at that time.

Even many veggie massage places are now limited in their operations (either you can't shower or you can only get same sex practicians to massage you or else they're no longer allowed to do oil massage, etc.).

A/ has a real idea of the timing at which things will start somehow getting back to normal end of the October meeting (which starts on the 18th) being the most repeated timeframe. But who knows.

B/ is really sure of how "as before" things will really get back to. Only the veggie places are guaranted of a back to normal situation (just don't know when).

This year, however, the crackdown is a lot worse than before, due to the National Congress of the Communist Party on Oct 18th. It is not guaranteed the situation will return to normal after that. Some have compared what happened in August to the crackdown in Dongguan a few years ago. The only way to know if it is safe or not is if there are more raids after Oct 18th. So to play it safe, I would advise refraining from hobbying until November.
