Hello All, I am an American travelling to Shanghai for business in Mid Jan. What are my options for having good time? My Mandarin skills are non existent. Any contacts shared will be highly appreciated.

With non-existent Mandarin skills, then by far the easiest way is Nightlife. See the classified ads. The gals on there a all a bit past their prime, but still good. Rates are kind of high by local standards, but low by USA standards. I am not a shill for them. You can read the forum for other ideas, but you will soon see that other options are not as simple.

Thanks for sharing the experience. I read your previous post as well. From my experience, anything involves prepay is a scam, period! I too have painful experience, although not too much money lost.

I haven't tried TG myself. I have poked around. Girls look too good to be true so I will take it they are all fake pictures. TG is not available without vpn, 99.99% of the WGs don't even know what vpn is so chances are you are talking to an agent. At least you got a real girl, although experience didn't sound too good.

Curious if anyone actually had a good experience from TG.

My only other TG experience last year was better (see post #14322). No agent involved and the gal had Telegram and a vpn herself, but yeah I don't think that's common. Most WG have still probably never heard of TG or a vpn, so most of the time the contact will be with an agent, but there are some exceptions if you have the time and patience to dig them out.

I visited Shanghai after 4 years. As there are no Sauna available, I searched on google (using a vpn).

I got a few sites but main was Massage Republic. Almost all are SP and could not find any Indie.

Almost all photos are fake or heavily modified.

SIM card accounts will be blocked if not used every 90 days, and one must go to the mobile store to show ID again to restore it, regardless of money remaining on the account. Anybody have ideas how to get around this? My plan is to have a friend use it while I'm gone. This is most inconvenient in the first 24 hours upon returning. Hotels ask for a cell number and sometimes when buying a train ticket. Free internet sites require a cell number to get a code.

Read through several pages of recent posts, seems like reviews and field reports are a thing of the past. Are there any independents that you guys are seeing and willing to share? I know there's the Shanghai Nightlife website, but I'm interested in real indy's rather than go through an agency. Please share or PM me if you have any regulars to share.

Not easy to find real indies. Even when you think you found one, it'll turn out that she still has a pimp. But many MP gals are willing to meet before or after their shift, especially if you are close by. I'm pretty sure these gals are indies. I met many of them outside of their shops. VN is Vietnamese, and TG is the Telegram app, which, despite needing a VPN, the Chinese have been using it for mongering (or 'driving' as they call it, lol) for at least a couple of years now. It's useful for finding naughty MPs and freelancers, but you have to put the work in (everything is in Chinese) and know how to detect the fake stuff, scams, etc. It's probably a bit too much to navigate for someone who's only here for a couple of nights.

You're right that Shanghai has changed a lot in the last few years, but there's still plenty of fun to be had, things just work more discretely these days.
