Long time lurker here, but have a forthcoming trip to BJ in one months time which (along with this KTV discussion) inspired me to sign up, now that I'm on here I'll have to knock out a few reports.

I'll be in BJ alone, and had been casing up the idea of a KTV visit even in the knowledge it would be a solo venture. As others have mentioned here, I rather like the idea of spending some fun time with a girl to break the ice before the actual 'business transaction' occurs, and a few drinks for both parties tends to work well in my experience, so BBS is not for me, escort outcall is fine but can be a lottery on the hotel room threshold.

My main plan is actually to go down the maggies / chocolate route, and am staying at the millenium which seems pretty close by for that purpose. Based on this review, I went looking for this place. It actually shows up on the Iphone map. It is located at 422 Wuyi Lu. The place has black glass doors, so it does look closed. Its a very local type of sauna with acceptable facilities.

I also chose the two girl option for 800RMB. The one girl option is already 700RMB, so why not try a threesome.

Finally got around to trying this place out. Bit dissapointed with the service overall.

Well I have never been to a KTV. The search here returns nothing for KTV and the internet is mostly Chinese.

Any recommendations for a KTV? What about one that has a place for single individuals?

I thought I would share a cautionary tale about picking up hotel lobby girls, if only to alert fellow newbies.

I tend to stay in the Jin Jiang Hotel in the French Concession where, late in the evening, the lobby often has a foxy-looking girl hanging around. Previously, when returning with friends, I noticed that such girls often just happen to get into the lift with you, especially if you go up to your room alone. You don't have to be the sharpest knife in the drawer to work out what's going on.

On my last trip to the Jin Jiang, I went to the lift area unaccompanied, and sure enough, I was soon joined by an fantastic looking lobby girl. Curves (by Chinese standards) in all the right places. As soon as the lift doors closed she produced a card giving details of various massage services, which she offered on immediate terms. Suffice to say, negotiations were concluded by the time we got to the fifth floor, which with the benefit of hindsight was a mistake. Lesson One: always take you time when negotiating so that you have a clear idea of what's on offer for the price. In my case, the card she gave me offered a 'Heavenly massage' for RMB 400. I asked her if this included as a HE and she said 'yes'. I reckoned that, while this was rather pricey, it could be viewed as a late night outcall to a five-star hotel and in any case I was as horny as hell.

In the hotel room things started off well. I gave her RMB 200 up front and, on asking, the girl said her name was 'Hooting'. She asked me to undress but didn't bother to take off more than a jacket herself. After a perfunctory massage with a bit of teasing, she said that she could give a HE for an additional RMB 200. I explained that we had already negotiated a price previously but she wouldn't budge. She kept saying 'no money, no honey'. Remembering that I had only given her half of the negotiated fee, I turned the tables and said 'well, in that case, no honey, no more money'. Hooting didn't like this at all and threatened to call the police. I called her bluff (high risk, I know) and told her to go ahead. I absolutely agree! Although you can go alone (which was the advice I was trying give him) , even my first trip was with a business group. If he can get a wingman or two, rather than flying alone it would be a great idea. The party atmosphere in the room is really the group and the girls chosen. Sometimes, not always, the girls just a little down on the food scale are the ones who will let loose and really be willing to have some fun. If the group you are with is a bunch of deadheads, drink too much and get obnoxious and pushy and rude with the girls, the evening fun will quickly deteriorate into a less than good experience. The girls, in the less commercial venues, like to have fun also, and if you or your group can go with the flow and enjoy the evening, it can and has been a blast!

As far as the POV of our friend, I also would like to, just once, get down and dirty in a wild KTV. Don't think it would be my regular thing, but might be fun once. After many, many KTV experiences, it is yet to happen, but I still have hopes! I have been to some rather lame KTV's (in CP) and didn't get into the dice game thing with no real point. I could see it if was some sort of real penalty for the loser, but a sip of a weak drink was pointless.

BTW, I will be in China (CP) from the 21st until the 24th of August, and may be staying at the Walter where I had a good KTV experience (alone) , my best in CP. My call is to go (if ever possible) to a KTV or two, with friends and enjoy the buddy atmosphere. This will give the ropes to venture out alone next time. Lots of unwritten rules, somehow. You pointed out quite some "rules or behaviours" and that is fine indeed as well as extremely helpful.
